There was a hot tub at our one too I just didn't use It as it was February. But you never know the heatwave might last!

We stayed here earlier in the year, they have a self catering chalet in the grounds. http://www.pennylands.co.uk/ It is one of those flat pack, self builds but was so cosy and comfy. It is 2 bedrooms as is all on one level so perfect for your toddler. We made a cheeky offer of about ?250 I think which she accepted as it was a very last minute booking. Even if that place isn't available Broadway is a great place to go, only a couple of hours drive away. It is a gorgeous Cotswolds village but had lots of nice pubs, restarts etc and a really good big playground. Also Cheltenham is only about 15 mins drive away which is lovely. So much so that when we returned my husband enquirer about transferring there with his work, no joy :( We also stayed in Charltom House and it is gorgeous but it was when I was pregnant so wasn't looking at it through parents eyes but I imagine as hotels go it would be good with kids. Enjoy your break.

Roaring baby sleeping toddler....
MrsLL2b replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Could be the 26 week wonder week? My daughter got much worse for a few weeks, just after she had started doing better like yours. But then she came out the other side and out of nowhere started sleeping 7-7. I always find that if it seems like a regression it's usually developmental rather than hunger. -
I had a baby last December and did alot of walking with her in the cold weather. I just used to have her in whatever she was wearing and then a snowsuit. I'd put her 'in the pram and put a nice cosy blanket over her,I'd sometimes use two if it was very cold. I had a pram which I think helps keep a winter baby more snug than a buggy. Prob wouldn't need that mothercare thing but it is super cute. You would be better off buying a sheepskin liner to put under the baby to keep them cosy, you can also use them in a bgggy and they keep them cool in summer too. So you would get years of use from it. Good luck with your baby x

We had the same,it passed really quickly and she now sleeps on her side or tummy and sleeps much better. If I recall correctly there were only a few nights where it caused her to wake and be confused etc

Thread of merged messages about incidents outside ED
MrsLL2b replied to Administrator's topic in The Lounge
Thinking of escaping to family in Kent for a few days til this dies down-but I'm in Camberwell and unsure if the roads are open through Peckham, Lewisham etc which would be the usual route I would take? If any one knows I'd be grateful if you respond. Thanks. -
Cervical sweeps; do they actually work???
MrsLL2b replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I too tried everything, had 5 sweeps, induction and eventually CS. Would not be induced again in a million years but I would def recommend sweeps for knowing if you are imminent or not. I think it does depend who does the sweep but I mostly found them embarrassing and uncomfortable rather than terrible. First one was the worst as didn't know what to expect, pretty much like am aggressive smear test. I now firmly believe a baby comes when it's ready (or by section!) and that there is not much point in curry etc -
Pre-baby splurge on a fab hair do
MrsLL2b replied to ladyruskin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I use GMs now and think they are fine for standard cut/colour but there are def way better places you can go to for a splurge. Haris in south ken or the kings road is unbelievable. But v pricey-a blow-dry is ?60! But it will make you feel like you're a celeb. Plus the added bonus of lots of shopping and lunching in the vicinity! Also I did dye my hair whilst pregnant with full on permanent colour-as one friend put it 'her husband would prob leave her if she let her roots grow that much and it was better to take the risk with the colour than risk becoming a single parent family!'. (that is Tongue in cheek btw!) -
Another nappy thread...too much wee!
MrsLL2b replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ps if you do change her do it before the feed as then the feed makes them sleepy again. -
Another nappy thread...too much wee!
MrsLL2b replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Maybe try a couple if different brands. I found huggies terrible for leaks but didn't really like pampers either. Of the ones I've tried I found sainsburys little ones Eco to be really absorbent, soft and slim. Also seem more generously sized than the pampers. My baby is about 17lbs now and still in the sainsburys size 3 whereas 'the pampers size 3 are too small. Also as the night feeds cut down she should wee less at night. -
3 month old waking frequently at night
MrsLL2b replied to MrsLL2b's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's one thing after another isn't it! I know as soon as this is resolved we will be into teething, the next growth spurt etc! Good luck with your little ones, hope we all get a few hours of decent sleep soon x -
3 month old waking frequently at night
MrsLL2b replied to MrsLL2b's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Fuschia Thanks for replying. That sounds like it could be the problem. I have the wonder weeks book but didn't think she was at the 19week stage yet but if they start preparing for it in advance then that could also be a contributing factor. Yes she is breastfed and we do differentiate between night and day. Though we only give her a bath every second night as I was worried about drying out her skin (she likes to spend ages playing in the bath!) I'll read up on helping them settle through the sleep cycles. Thanks again. -
My little girl is 13 weeks old and has been waking every 1-2 hours throughout the night for the past 8 nights. Until then she has always been very good, usually waking twice at night for a feed. At first I just put it down to being the 3 month growth spurt but I've noticed that she doesn't seem to always be hungry when she wakes and she isn't feeding any more often during the day. At first I was feeding her every time she woke but often she would just fall back to sleep on me straight away. She seems quite happy to just be held. Sometimes once settled she will go back down and fall asleep for another hour or so, and sometimes she squeals as if she is in discomfort when I put her down. One thing that has changed is her bowel movement pattern (this has changed every few weeks since birth). She is currently just doing a poo once a day and it is during the middle of the night at the moment, usually between 3 and 6am. It occurred to my sleep deprived brain today that she might be waking as she is in discomfort having not done a poo all day. She does seem to settle and sleep well for three hours or so once she has done the poo. I just wondered if anyone else has anyexperience of this and how it was resolved? I could just wait and hope the pattern changes again soon, but I wondered if there was any way of me encouraging her to poo during the day or in the evening before she goes to bed. Thanks for any advice

Some reassurance that i'm not doing a bad job!!!
MrsLL2b replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I don't really have any advice or anything to say that hasn't been said but just wanted to also pass on my support. Sounds like you are a really lovely mummy already and I think your little girl is very lucky to have you regardless of how she is fed. I would say roughly half of the mums I've met have struggled with breastfeeding and have gone onto formula or are putting themselves under so much pressure to express as much as they can. There is so much pressure from the health visitors so just ignore them! The first couple of weeks are such a scary, emotional roller coaster as it is without putting more pressure on yourself. As was said above, your baby will be better off on formula with a happy mummy than being breastfed but you being stressed out and upset. It is also scary when your other half returns to work but I found that once I was forced to start having a semblance of routine again things became much better. So don't worry about that. My baby is 13 weeks old now and I promise you it will get easier soon and all your hormones will calm down. Enjoy your baby and good luck with it all x -
Baby books - any recommendations?
MrsLL2b replied to ladyruskin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The baby whisperer by Tracey Hogg and The Perfect Start by Christine Hill which is a bit of a lighter read than alot of baby books. Good luck! -
Things I have learnt (the hard way) about breastfeeding...
MrsLL2b replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this to benefit the rest of us. My baby is due in the next week and I am hoping to breastfeed but I am worried about the problems that can be encountered. I will be bookmarking this thread as a go to guide in the event that I do suffer any of the above. Thanks again and well done for persisting through all occur above. I hope your problems clear up once and for all soon. -
Advice about weight of birth pool please
MrsLL2b replied to MrsLL2b's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for the comments, feel more reassured. I too had heard the corner of the room is better, access for midwives allowing and that the weight is equal to about 10average sized adults which we have had in our flat many times. Hopefully if I do plummet through the floors I will survive to have a funny birth story! -
I am hoping to have a home birth and have my 'birth pool in a box' ready but I have become very paranoid about the weight of it once filled with water. We live in a top floor flat of a converted Victorian house and although it seems in good condition, I am concerned about the joists etc being able to take the weight of the pool. We contacted the surveyor we used when purchasing our flat who thinks it should be ok but he would charge us ?140 to actually come out and have a look which is alot. I just wondered if anyone lives in a similar type of property and used a pool, or has anyone actually ever heard of someone plummeting mid labour down into their neighbours below! Thanks

Autumn babies club - due dates
MrsLL2b replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wow he is beautiful, congratulations supergolden x -
I burnt my hand quite badly recently and my neighbour who is a doctor recommended a gel called 'burnshield'. It was amazing and it is suitable for kids too. She said that this would be the sort of thing they would have put on me had I gone to a&e. It has some sort of local anaesthetic in it and things like tea tree oil and moisturisers. It made the pain go away instantly and is also antiseptic. My blisters were huge but healed really well and quickly. I have since bought some for myself,I could only find it online but it is def worth having in the medicine cabinet. Hope your little one is ok now.

I think food,we often send a selection of meals for 2 from Cook- just check they have freezer space.but the ocado idea is brilliant and probably more flexible. Also voucher for a mobile therapist who can come to her house to give her a massage.or if you are feeling flush a ngut nanny,or the cleaner idea is good. Wish I had friends like you!
