Urgent buggy in plane hold question!
Trish replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You can generally choose to check in buggy either with your bags or drop off at the gate to go on the hols but best to double check directly with your airline. -
Primary school place allocation chaos has started!

Congratulations Toast - you've worked tirelessly to remedy this problem. You do deserve it. prdarling and Tor - keeping everything crossed for you. -
Second pregnancy: how does it compare?
Trish replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Fuschia - sounds like we might bump into each other on the baby circuit later on this year! I take my hat off to you - twins and two others! I too am a twin - my mum found it very hard (she literally had a nervous breakdown) but my brother and I are so close now. It's a very special relationship. -
Second pregnancy: how does it compare?
Trish replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm so glad you started this thread! I'm 16 weeks today and have been showing very obviously from 7 weeks. Work colleagues now assume I am about 6 months pregnant so it's humiliating to confess my actual due date. I started to feel flutters in Week 14. My four year old has very kindly confirmed that mummy's bottom is growing at the same rate as her tummy - which she thinks is hilarious! Each day when I pick her up from nursery, she kisses my bump. All her friends rush out to ask how the baby is (as well as how did it get there and how is it getting out?!!!). Whenever I'm eating, she asks if the baby likes it - which of course I say yes to! nymum and supergolden88 sounds like we're all within days of one another - I'm due 12th November. Would love to meet some other mums in the area due the same time as me. I work full time so it's hard to make any connections before maternity leave starts! How old are your other children? My little girl is 4 and starts at Goodrich in September. So glad I'm not the only HUGE pregnant lady out there! -
East Dulwich to Uxbridge - advice please
Trish replied to KidKruger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Assuming you are going by public transport - East Dulwich to London Bridge, Jubilee line to Baker Street. Metropolitan line to Uxbridge. Or same route as above but when you get to Baker Street, walk the 5mins to Marylebone and take the overland to Uxbridge (which will be quicker than the Met line). -
I just telephoned Goodrich and they said letters will be sent out early July to advise of the settling in period but last year the children didn't start 'full time' until the middle of September. So my assumption is that we could expect 2 weeks of random attendance.

My daughter is due to start Goodrich school in September and I'm trying to work out how I might juggle my working hours around school hours, but more specifically the settling in period. I've got an afterschool club sorted out but does anyone know if Goodrich do a breakfast club? And my other question is whether anyone knows what the settling in schedule is like at Goodrich? My colleagues at work (with children in other London schools) have had to pick their children up at lunchtime for the first week for example, whereas others have had a month of two of their children attending school for only the morning or afternoon each day. If this is the case then I need to work out how on earth I manage this. It would also be great to know if there are any other full time working parents out there who have similar concerns? I wonder if we can help each other?!

How to describe the shock of the first 3 months...

Fuschia - congratulations! Maybe we'll bump into each other along the way. I'm due mid November - my second, so not quite the pro you are at this mothering malarky! -

I don't remember much at all! Which says it all really. -

prdarling/Tor/Toast etc. - good luck with the waiting lists. I hope you're in a good position that offers you some comfort and hope that a place might become avaailable. -
Saila, I'm so glad you raise this question. I thought it was just me!! I have seriously been considering going to the police station to ask them exactly what I do if a dog does attack my daughter. I genuinely don't know but good tips on here! I'm very pleased to hear I'm not the only one preoccupied with this. My little one doesn't need a buggy now but is terrified of dogs so kind of clings to me if one comes anywhere near her. I only tend to get nervous if it is a dog off the lead with an owner who looks totally incapable of controlling it. Jalapeno - what did your mum do to rescue your daughter?

To balance this thread out (but not wanting to gloat) we have secured a place at goodrich and we're obviously delighted. Good luck to everyone who is about to appeal - I hope you get a positive outcome. -
Madly orange munching pregnant mums!?????
Trish replied to littleEDfamily's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oranges make the morning sickness worse for me. It was sausages at the beginning, now I'm averse to most meat. But cheese, in particular cauliflower cheese, but anything cheesy is what's grabbing me right now. And lots of carbs - toast, cereal. But generally, simply cannot believe how much I'm eating! Will be the size of a house by the time I hit 4 months!
