  1. I would recommend the Dulwich Park Runners. They meet every Tuesdays and Thursdays and are a very friendly bunch. They also run a beginners course. The autumn course has already begun, but I'm sure there will be another one soon. More Info here: http://www.dulwichparkrunners.co.uk/site/?page_id=8
  2. Yep, that is where the noise is coming from. It looks like someone has opened up an all night bakery, and the sound is made (i'm guessing) when they hammer the base of the baking tins in order to remove the bread. I'm going to pop round tonight and suggest they may consider using rubber hammers or something similar before they upset too many of the local residents.
  3. I heard the same thing last night. I would describe it as sounding like the amplified sound of two empty coconut shells being banged together. Two very loud bangs, a pause, then the same again. Never heard anything like it, and I couldn't figure out what it could be. It went on for at least an hour (or until I fell asleep) from about 1.30. My rear window looks over the rear gardens at the Peckham Rye end of Barry Road. Very strange. If it happens again tonight I will try to find the source.
  4. Same here, but obviously not as bad. Had some minor electrical problems to sort out. Apparently the new Kier/Grainger team don't deal with electrical issues, so it was sub-contracted out. The sub-contractors phoned me the following day and the earliest they could deal was after the weekend and could only give an AM/PM- up till 5.00pm appointment time. So much for men in smart new Kier/Grainger uniforms with ID cards and appointment times to suit, including evenings and weekends. Looks like Kier promised the earth to get the contract, but cant deliver. I counted six new Grainger/Kier maintenance vans parked in the square the other day, which must be quite galling for Rach1983. Hope you get your problems sorted soon.
  5. I heard it was Dullrich Village....
  6. I think the people who are disagreeing with Emily have not seen the school at night now that those hideous neon lights that run down the front of the building have been switched on. Totally out of character with the area and ruin what is otherwise a fairly functional modern school building. How on earth did that get planning permission? Honestly, if you haven't seen it at night yet, it is well worth a look!
  7. Im in the process of buying a leasehold flat with a share of the freehold. This will be shared with the owners of the flat above us. I have been advised by my solicitor that we will need joint buildings insurance for the whole house. has anybody had experience of this? Is it an easy thing to arrange? I've read that Dulwich is one of the most expensive areas in the county for building insurance....
