    Driving

It's not all junctions on the A13, usually the left lane splits (local traffic), so the middle lane becomes the left lane for a bit. Meh, I don't drive when it's busy anyway, plenty of room to overtake me in the right lane. And I'm usually at 70 or more anyway. Driving

I'm a relatively new driver, and there are some right idiots on the road. Some guy thought it would be funny the other night to completely blind me so I couldn't drive. On Melbourne Grove, just driving down it, I was half way down a bit or road with cars either side, and another car comes from the other direction and turns his fog lights on so I have to stop and let him pass faster. That is awful driving and scared the hell out of me as I didn't know what was going on. On the motorway/3 lane dual(?) carriageway, I understand that if you are not overtaking you should be in the left, but even I stay in the middle at 70 sometimes when my tom tom tells me to keep right. Like on the A13, I stay in the middle :-\
  3. I hope it's just the top of Melbourne Grove and not the bottom. But then, if people can't park at the top, they'll just move down and it doesn't solve the problem at all.
  4. Is there going to be resident parking on Melbourne Grove? I can't afford that if there is! Hell we pay enough as it is. I've never had a problem parking in Melbourne Grove, there are always about 3-4 spaces around my flat. I guess maybe up by the station, but at the other end it's fine.
  5. My suggestion is to drive to Lakeside (i know it's a bit far), and visit Best Buy. They will be able to recommend a laptop suitable to your niece's needs. All the computing guys there know what they're talking about, and should make the best recommendations. I have a 13" Acer which is really light, but it has no optical drive. The drive will add a fair bit of weight unfortunately. But you could always buy a cheap external drive, depends what she will use it for (eg just for watching DVDs at home, back up, or using it out and about where an inbuilt one is more practical).
  6. They seem to have gotten even worse this morning! Between when I left at 9am, and came back at 11am, they've added another works with 4 way temporary traffic lights. I don't really know the area that well, and never driven around here - I've only just bought a car. I need to get onto Crystal Palace Parade from Melbourne Grove, is there another quieter route apart from College Road toll? I haven't driven in 3 years, so I'm weary of traffic, think I need quieter roads for the time being :P
  7. I always find big meals easy and cheap. Like beef casserole, lasagne, stews, currys - all things you can cook in bulk and freeze/fridge and reheat later. I created a Word document with lots of budget recipes in, if you want I can email it to you.

    Sherlock

Definitely flabbergasated at the end of the episode. Apparently I was holding my breath waiting. I loved the first and third, second was a bit random really. Just a filler, but it could have been a better filler. And after London cabbies, I wasn't expecting some Chinese themed episode.
  9. Don't feel bad about slamming the door in peoples face, it feels strangely empowering :-P But as others have said, use the chain on the door, or just don't answer the door if your not expecting someone/delivery.
  10. Hey Scarlett! Welcome to ED. I only moved in a couple of months ago too and don't know anyone yet either. I'm 23 :-P

Anyone want to buy me a helicopter? :-P I think this is going to be a long commute. TFL comes up with ED to Tulse Hill to Mitcham Junction to Waddon Marsh. It'd probably be quicker to buy a car! If I miss one train I'm screwed! Sunday is easy though, trains to East Croydon make it faster. Thanks for everyone's advice.
  12. I am utterly confused by the trains. I just got a job by Waddon Marsh tram link, near the Ikea, etc. But I've no idea how to get in to work. I'd be on shifts, so some mornings and some afternoons, any day of the week. All the trains seem to be different. Sundays I can go to East Croydon, mornings Wimbledon. I don't really understand. Does anyone know a simple quick route to get there all times of the week? Also, can I get just a normal zone 3-5 travelcard? Or do I have to get something special?
  13. Ah foxes are driving me mad. There are a few that just hang around outside at night, and then start yapping like crazy at in the early hours of the morning waking us all up. The other night they woke the kid next door up who then cried for ages. So sleepy, need a water pistol to get rid of them at night!

Not even with everything locked up and seat taken away? Oh dear, maybe its not the best idea then.
