  1. We have used him for some time and have always found him excellent.
  2. Can anyone recommend a good local removals company?
  3. Another vote for Daniel. He's fixed my back brilliantly.
  4. Our heating broke down today in the middle of the snowy weather. Peter came after work having been asked at 10am this morning and fixed it and charged the basic rate and wouldn't take anything extra for after hours. He has just left at 8.15pm. We will never have anyone else to fix our heating. He is fantastic and highly recommended. Phone: 07788-412880 or 020-8299-1385.
  5. I've lived for 20 years on Friern on the other side of Underhill so I can't comment about the church. It was a terrible ratrun when we first moved in but now with the various traffic managing measures, it's incredibly quiet and also, I have always found it very friendly.
  6. Thanks for posting this AM. Take no notice of the tedious reply. It's always so saddening to hear these stories about animal welfare. Let's hope they don't make it to ED.
  7. Since watching those programmes I've hardly slept a wink.....curious and very annoying!
  8. This is just heartbreaking. I hope he has no lasting damage to his nerves. A blessing he didn't wake up. Absolutely no shame at all.
  9. Well done Pugwash....I'm sure she was really grateful. Good idea Salsaboy. The other thing I have since learned from the police and will never forget is to personalise it and give instruction eg., you, the man in the blue coat, go and dial 999. Apparently people are less likely to ignore it if they are made to feel responsible in some way.
  10. Pebbles, I was really badly attacked in public once and everyone just walked right on by and the only way I managed to escape, after a good half hour of struggling on the ground, was by holding onto a man's ankle walking past and begging for help. Afterwards people said they thought we were mucking about but I was screaming as loud as I could for help and on the ground, so I can't imagine why they would think that. I would have done anything to have someone help like you did so brilliant, well done. I would always try and do the same myself, even if it was to just call the police.
  11. I'm sorry to hear this. I had stupidly thought the days when it was worth pinching car radios had gone. I wonder if others have been unlucky recently.
  12. I have always knitted and this year have learned to crochet in Sydenham. The details of these are on yo crochet website or same on Facebook....I really recommend them plus there's an improvers group at the Golden Lion in Sydenham on a Wednesday night or if you want to can just go and chat and crochet.
  13. Really interesting to hear how much ED has changed since the 50's and 60's. I only came here in 1993 having been in Camberwell for sme years prior to this and have seen so many changes - some good and some bad - since then.

  15. Sadly not e-dealer. Just typical of all the other dog walkers in the park. I can't really win either way. If I behave by the rules then I am just met with snide comments. Shame.
  16. Agree with all First Mate and Bonnie Bird have said! The fact of peeing footballers is well known amongst regular users of the park. And yes, just to confirm, I have one large dog and one tiny dog. I keep them on the lead where I am told to including the garden at the entrance and only let them off for a run on the field. I pick up their poo. I stop them from making any noise in the garden. I do not let them run up to people and I don't let the big one off the lead when the park is full of toddlers in case she intimidates them. I make sure they don't chase runners. And most of all, I NEVER walk them off the lead on the street - a new trend which I loathe. As has been said many times before, most of my fellow dog walkers are the same and it's a very small minority who flout the rules. Please don't penalise us because of the small minority who let the rest of us down.
  17. The bakery stall and the olive stalls are very good and I walk down there especially for a weekend treat most Saturdays. I enjoy pottering round the market myself and would be sorry to see it go.
  18. Thomas, I absolutely agree. It's a disgusting practice. I feel often feel like I belong to another race from people that can abide this sort of cruelty. It's nothing about getting a life. It's about having some integrity and moral standing.
  19. I'd say more than 15 years....I've been here for 18 and I'm sure the shop was in that condition when we arrived.

  21. Hotpants....me too! Red crimplene with brass buttons!
  22. The GLC and 'can't pay won't pay' on the buses Derry and Toms
  23. I have dogs and I have cats who live happily together, but as FM says that's no guarantee that they won't go for other unfamiliar cats on the street. I have lost a beloved cat like this myself and it's horrific. There seems to be a plague of people walking their dogs on the street without leads. It's pure exhibitionism...look at the power I have over my dog who stays by my side (not). I would no more walk my dogs without a lead than go out without my clothes. Poor little cat. Please report this man. It's not the dogs fault. They are just being terriers.
