  1. I've not had any problem with my Virgin broadband until yesterday when I couldn't get online all day and evening. The TV is playing up at the moment too.

  3. That's awful....the cheek of it. Really glad you weren't hurt and yes, don't go mad with the cricket bat! Not worth it.
  4. There used to be one in Peckam Rye car park but I've no idea whether it is still there or not, and I think there is one in Langton Rise.
  5. So sorry to hear of your loss. It's heartbreaking. I'm lucky in my road as it is no longer the rat run it was in the past. I hope they manage to sort your road out.
  6. I have lived in many parts of London and been in ED for 18 years. For me, I wouldn't live anywhere else in London.
  7. Me too....years ago in Rotherhithe. We had small round pellet holes in the window which strangely didn't shatter. We thought it must be an air rifle. Horrid and unnerving.

Very well said. I have dogs myself which would be more likely to lick you to death than attack you, but I wholely recognise that my love of animals isn't shared by all and do my very best to train them and keep them on the lead when they may be a nuisance to others....and walk elsewhere like the woods when it's busy. People do have the right to run round the park without dogs tearing after them which as someone said is usually the excitement of a young dog rather than aggression....but it doesn't matter....it shouldn't happen. But I do agree that this care of each other has to be reciprocated by all groups....on many occasions either I or my dogs have narrowly missed injury from cyclists who speed round the park without any due care for pedestrians. Or the summer inevitable spate of mopeds no doubt stolen being driven round by kids with no helmets. Oh dear, maybe I should start a rant thread!

I thought it was the best fete we have had and I know how much effort Boosboss and the others put into it....hours of their own time. The suggestions are really helpful but I'm sure that more volunteers are needed in order to take them forward for next year. I think I'm right in saying (may well be wrong) that a lot of the current volunteers have dogs hence the doggy nature of the day. I thought the idea suggested for parents who are getting involved in craft projects having stalls and maybe organising more child-centred activities would be good and who better to do it. I loved the dog show although have to try desperately hard not to be upset when my Elsie doesn't win!!!! Although we did get 4th in dog and owner lookalike....not sure whether to be pleased or not! I believe that the judge is qualified (whatever that entails) as she judges at my dog club for the kennel club. I like the idea of the audience voting too...maybe we could try that one year. Also, could we bring back 'best rescue story'? > > >

I couldn't agree more :). I would like to thank the organisers for working so incredibly hard to make the fete a success every year - so much of their own time goes into it. I think the reason it has such a strong doggie element to it is that often the dog walkers are very active in organising it. The idea of having a late summer produce show is brilliant - are there any allotment holders/jam makers etc who would like to take this forward for the next one in 2008? We truly will have our own 'village fete' then! Thanks again to the organisers for doing something so nice for our community :))
