A small plea from a local corona sufferer
prit replied to Sophia Sophia's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In addition to poorly people, no one seems to consider that a lot of Kings staff (who may have just finished gruelling night shifts) live in the area. Everyone's happy to clap for 5 mins but not everyone seems able to consider these amazing, selfless, hard working neighbours when they're pissing it up in their garden!! -
If you can keep your head... (update 1)
prit replied to Administrator's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps you could temporarily have a section for coronavirus related threads? Might keep those offers of help easier to find than mixed into the news/gossip section with the dog poo and burst water main threads? -

ED - ?100 for a kids birthday cake? REALLY?
prit replied to Angelina's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
sorry to go a bit Louisa but I don't think FreyaM is that far off the mark. Being able to pay for a cake to be made and parties to be catered for is a whole level of luxury many cannot afford. -

I used Premier Orthodontics in Bromley and would highly recommend them. I had ceramic train tracks, I can't remember their real name but they are tooth-coloured. Before you go for any consultations, think carefully about what you want to achieve and whether it's worth it - it is painful as Blah says and you should carry on wearing your night time retainers for life (they only mentioned the 'for life' bit at the end!) and you will have 'permanent retainers', ie wires permanently cemented onto the back of your front teeth top and bottom to keep your teeth still which means extra cleaning. Consider the shape of your individual teeth - I hadn't realised that if I have a tooth that's more curved than those in photos of 'perfect smiles' you may be left with a small triangular gap at the gum line where the teeth don't meet at that point iykwim. Some orthodontists will 'shave' a mm or 2 off the side of your tooth to improve this but I didn't want to do that. I stopped wearing my nighttime retainers a year or so after my braces came off and I have permanent wires, my teeth have moved a little, but I couldn't wear retainers every night for the rest of my life! I am on balance glad that I did it but only just!

What the actual hell? Trolling someone who's undergone this awful ordeal?! Shame on you, alice. Patricia, I wish you all the best with your recovery and the police response and ignore any numbskulls on here. Thank you for taking the time to bring this to the community's attention.

Youngest in school year? Heber/Goodrich school
prit replied to theboycj's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It is certainly possible if you feel that your child needs it and has been done at these schools. I knew two July birthdays in my youngest son's cohort and one did another year in the school nursery as their parents could tell they were just not ready, and the other went on to be youngest in the year above. Both parents made the right decision and the children are flourishing in their respective year groups. Although we all worry when it is time for reception, some children do need and benefit from this. If it's right for your child do not be put off by anyone who says you are being over protective. -

Just go to Crete and get a taxi to Knossos for the day. The taxi driver will come back and pick you up at a time you specify.

I'd like to add this in case it's of help, although not at King's - I had traumatic EMCS with my first and wanted a VBAC with my 2nd. (and may have already posted on the other thread so apologies if repeating!). I felt that a VBAC was the only option and would 'fix' the first experience iyswim. My obstetrician agreed to a VBAC converting to a section at the first glimmer of 'not normal'. But around the 32-4wk mark she decided we'd have to book an ELCS as my baby wouldn't stop wriggling, she called it 'unstable lie'. I was heartbroken and at term was indeed 'hopping up onto the table'. However, what followed was so calm and controlled (and quick!), so unlike my first birth, that I realised that all I'd needed was to have a calm, controlled 2nd birth, and the method didn't really matter. With hindsight it was probably for me than going through labour naturally and worrying the whole time about the possibility of things going wrong. My point is, good luck with & go for your VBAC, but if things unravel, don't lose heart, you can still have a positive experience.

Looking for 1 to 1 swim lesson reccomendations
prit replied to anna79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
All of the teachers at jags are good, I've spent a long time sitting on the side and had time to observe! Call the reception and ask for numbers/if anyone has a vacancy. There used to be a page on the jags website with teachers' numbers on, not sure if it's still there. Also their summer courses are brilliant as the kids do half an hour daily for five days. You don't have to be a member. No affiliation with jags, just always been happy with their swimming teaching. My child went from to scared to get in the pool at 4 to swimming a variety of strokes better than us by 7 thanks to jags group and 1-1 classes. -
I chatted with someone in a similar situation who said she had experienced the same and the police told her they would not go to the address where her phone was tracked to 'unless they were known to the police'. Surely this is the point when they become known?! What's all that guff about building up intelligence?

If you are the woman in the turquoise dress with a small blonde boy who just got threatened on LL, I just wanted to let you know I reported this to the police as I've seen the woman who did this do similar before. Hope you two can enjoy the rest of the day.
