John Lewis, Marks & Spencer - 2 companies who will never see my 'dollars' again - what a load of pretentious, 'touchy-feely' shite..... The admen must be laughing their fancy socks off....
-
I think you've just answered your own question there Twoddle - "surely they're always in season if you can get them from all over the world" - hence the price increase.... If they're being imported from Poland I'm guessing it's cheaper than importing them from South Africa.... They're out of season in the UK, but in season in SA and Chile, hence the higher cost perhaps? I'm not preaching by any means, but we are always being told to cut our carbon footprint and there are plenty of fruits in season in the UK at the moment... I agree with you, though, the price of them is ridiculous (frozen for muffins or smoothies, dried for snacks are good)...

Tibbs - that's really horrible for you, as you say they really are "nasty scumbags".... Don't suppose you got a look at any of them, or were they all wearing 'scream' masks? Luckily this year we've only had lovely children knock at the door, although last year some kids grabbed handfuls of sweets then squirted shaving foam in my face... Then again there were the DC and A boys who said "errrrr, we're not allowed sweets and we're allergic to nuts... godeneee cash?"

The foxes in my garden are quite well-behaved - they don't dig, they just play and sunbathe - I must be lucky! I've attached a separate squirrel feeder to a tree, they ignore the suet balls - although they do like to swing on my washing line and sometimes pee on the laundry.... I shouted at them and they pelted me with cherry stones and gravel... But I don't mind! -

Sexist to offer a pregnant woman a seat - Lib Dem MP Jo Swinson
LadyNorwood replied to Bic Basher's topic in The Lounge
I was sitting down on a bus and gave my seat to a pregnant woman - nothing special in itself, except that no-one else offered. Oh did I mention that I was also in a neck brace and on crutches....? -
Looking at my garden I see five foxes sunbathing (soon to be more if the rotundeness of Mother Fox is anything to go by), four blue tits, three squirrels, two magpies and one woodpecker... I feel very lucky to live here....

Twoddle - as the OP wasn't 'parked' but stuck behind another car, why should they receive and pay a 'parking' fine?

It was called Goodbye by Morwenna Banks - Olivia Colman and Natascha McElhone were outstanding, Darren Boyd also brilliant.....

Apparently wiping down window frames (and any other points of entry) with Olbas oil (or similar) helps - they hate menthol.... Brings back nightmares from the summer of 76.....

Six? We have scores and scores of them everyday in the dining room - the back of the house looks like a dot-to-dot picture... Vacuum them up - as soon as it gets colder they'll disappear....

Have a look at this (not sure if it helps much) - http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1992/23/contents Just saying he has planning permission, doesn't necessarily mean he has got it - I would ask to see the plans and also the council's approval before agreeing to anything.... -

Cycling on the pavement is dealt with by a FPN which cannot be issued to anyone under the age of 16... I don't FEEL that I've 'experienced abuse and intimidation', I HAVE experienced it.... I do like your bicycle-related puns though... Perhaps we should have pavements reclassified as 'sidewalks'... And to LadyDelilah, I'm not a troll, either in real life or virtually - if cyclists are traffic (as you point out) then they should be accountable, just like any other road user...
-
I've had enough - cycling on the pavement is illegal, whether the cyclist is being 'considerate', is 'too frightened to ride on a public road' and all the other blah blah blah hand-wringing excuses..... It's illegal and that's that.... I will no longer (ON A DAILY BASIS) be complacent and be intimidated by, sworn at, spat at, threatened with violence by pavement cyclists - I will take your photograph and give it to the police, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH....

LadyNorwood replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've got a camera on my front door which is linked to my TV so I can see who is at the door..... Also, if I'm not expecting anyone I won't answer the door after dark.... -
I've been knocked down by a cyclist who was going the wrong way down a one way street - I was thrown into the path of oncoming traffic but luckily was rescued by three very kind gentlemen.... Every morning I take my life in my hands stepping onto the pavement outside my house - I've been sworn at, spat at and threatened with violence all by charming cyclists. "It's too dangerous to cycle on the road" - my reply "It's dangerous to drive around Hyde Park Corner but I don't drive on the pavement; if you aren't competent enough to cycle on the roads, then you shouldn't be cycling".... Don't get me started on cyclists at night, on the pavement, no lights, dressed all in black, riding at the speed of sound.... Seems to me that since the Olympics everyone with a bike thinks they're Pendleton or Wiggins......

Strange bottles full of orange liquid
LadyNorwood replied to tarafitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just encountered one of these bottles on South Croxted Road - either the perpetrator has increased his reach or we have a WD copycat!! -
14th April is good for me too - my wedding anniversary so saves me the bother of organising anything!!

re drops of hope - there seems to be a whole new thread on this - not locked tho!!
-
Sean - the thread is locked, ergo I am unable to post an apology......
-
I posted a thread about Drops of Hope which was then locked (I'm actually in West Dulwich so didn't know there had already been a thread about this) - I then posted an apology explaining my confusion but this wasn't posted, so people are going to think I'm a fool - maybe I am, was just trying to be helpful...
-
I'm in West Dulwich and didn't realise there was already a thread on thi, so my apologies.....
-
You may have had a plastic collection bag from The Drops Of Help Ltd - just checked on the Charity Commission website and this organisation is not listed with them so may be a scam......
