  1. We have probs with Royal Mail all the time. We live in a converted house with a number of flats...there are days when none of us get any post. We try as much as possible to have things delivered to my work address which seem to make it there ok. We have complained before to Royal Mail but each complaint has to be logged separately which means its difficult for them to see a pattern forming at specific areas/addresses.
  2. Apologies for being thick but where is upper east side?! Overhill Road was out all morning. All back to normal now :)
  3. We had no post for 4days last week. We live in a converted house with 5 other flats and everyone else go theirs...ours arrived altogether on Saturday. Very odd. We've had probs in the past with parcels going missing. A couple of years ago all of my birthday parcels went missing. The cards that did turn up were opened at the sides to see if money was inside. I did ring Royal Mail a few times in the early days - when all my pressies went walkabout. You can't have more than one complaint. I had to log each one individually which meant that they couldn't easily see that one address was having a few problems. Things have improved tho - we have the same cheery lady as Asset now so maybe it was worth the hassle... MW74 - did you have any luck/have you got your post?!
  4. christopher...i was ill the last 2 times so i did give them another chance. nutty - there are loads of places i like. i've written positive reviews about some of them here but i wouldn't want to repeat myself cos apparently that gets annoying!
  5. We used to love the Thai Corner Cafe, went all the time and were never disappointed. Until the time before last when I felt a bit dodgy during the night. My other half was fine so I didn't think any more about it. After a bit of a break from the place we went back last Sunday. Being a bank holiday weekend they were really busy. Unusually we had to wait 40mins to get our starter!! Normally you'd have been finishing your entire meal by then! We ordered the mixed started but they didn't have one of the regular items so offered us fish cakes. I can't eat those so asked for an alternative. Then 15mins later another waiter came and asked if fish cakes were ok. I said no, could we have an alternative. Fish cakes arrive!! So we sent it back and they changed it. But everything was cold. And the peanut sauce looked like it'd been served to someone else before us. My main course was lovely but the other main was a stir fry. Usually it comes with peppars and onions etc. This was just chicken with a few limp green leaves. It looked disgusting. And had no flavour. SO disappointing. To top it all...we were both ill that night. So..we'll not be going back. Anyone else had problems or were we just unlucky? (apologies for the ranting on!)
  6. I was in Au Ciel last Sat. The staff are painfully slow. The girl who served us looked very stressed and grumpy. There was a bit of bickering going on between her and one of the other members of staff so that maybe explains the grumpiness. I waited so long to be served I asked for a glass of wine without looking at the wine list...huge mistake. She kindly brought me the most expensive one on the list! ?6 for a glass....a tad steep. Tho after the day I'd had. I'd have probably paid ?10! Wasn't going to go back but having read that they do nice cakes I may give them one more chance ;-)
  7. would be nice to see a cafe open. i work nearby and there's nowhere really close to go for a nice lunch. any place to give me a reason to not go to badger bakery and be called 'darlin' by someone 10yrs younger than me!
  8. Thats awful. Everyone involved must've been so distressed. I can't believe the dog is still around. I agree with Pickle that the dog will attack again. If its attacked that many children it should be destroyed. I'm a big dog fan but I don't trust the bull terriers, tho I know they're not all like that. I wonder will the police press charges....
  9. Hi, My other half and I were having a drink in the Herne tavern around 3pm today when a disturbance occured next door. The owner/manager and one of the bar staff were running in and out calling the police. The manager looked really shaken as did a few of those drinking. The police and ambulance arrived really quickly, tho I'm not sure the ambulance was needed as it left quite quickly. Does anyone know what happened?
  10. have to agree with alot of the other posts...i have given the plough more than 4 attempts at serving up a decent meal but have been disappointed. great place to go for a drink, staff are friendly. just don't go hungry!
  11. apparently the accountants next door to the podiatry place was done over a week or so later. they caught the guy. not sure if its the same person. can't imagine there'd be alot of petty cash there either. he was caught with sainsburys bags on his feet to prevent leaving footprints...bet he looked a right sight!
  12. No I didn't have a pumpkin out. I live in a house converted into flats, I think I was the only one with my living room light on so they knew I was ignoring them!
