  1. Wow, thanks everyone! Lots of ideas there and I'll definitely be trying the oatmeal thing first to see if that helps. My son is almost 10 months old and he also suffers from wheezing (which Kings are treating as asthma, although they can't diagnose it as that due to his age). I've been told by the asthma clinic at Kings that eczema can come along as part of the "asthma" package. Do people have experience of this too?
  2. Hi all My son has patches of eczema on his chest. We've been prescribed epaderm which doesn't seem to make any difference, and have also tried sudocrem and the Avent magic cream which also don't seem to help. Has anyone used anything that works when other things haven't? Any recommendations very welcome. Thanks Hollie
  3. Purse lost! Posted by: HollieES Today, 03:21PM Hi all I've just lost my purse somewhere between Dulwich Library and the junction of Goodrich Road/Barry Road. It is a black leather zip up purse. My name is Hollie Stroud. Please let me know if any of you good people find it. Thanks so much.

  5. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey My Friend Leonard (follows the above) by James Frey Freedom by Jonathan Franzen Best books I've read in a long time.
  6. Thanks. That's good to know. They have lane swimming every day 12-1.30pm Fuschia...go for it! x
  7. Just wondered if anyone has used the creche at Dulwich Leisure Centre and what you think of it? I'm thinking of putting my 7 month old in there whilst I swim for half an hour, so just putting the feelers out.
  8. Yes, the lavender oil is great. You'll be able to get it in H&B, or in the health matters shop on LL I'd imagine. The heat on the PN ward was unbearable. When I suggested opening a window the midwife gasped and said it needed to be that hot and proceeded to wrap my baby up in another 20 layers. Vaseline for the lips too. And a hairbrush.
  9. I found these bits handy.. Lavender oil and a flannel (I found that inhaling this during labour helped keep me really nice and relaxed) Shampoo and shower gel A lovely nightie Dressing gown & slippers A good moisturiser (heavy duty...the heat in the ward made me feel like a lizard) A little bottle of olive oil - to put on baby's bum as soon as he/she is born - it means that when they pass that first tar-like monstrosity, you can wipe it off easily! Camera
  10. Thanks everyone - I'll give those things a shot.
  11. Hi folks My son is 11 weeks old and has developed cradle cap over the last couple of weeks. I've tried olive oil - rubbing it into his scalp and leaving overnight - but all it seems to do is make him smell like wotsits and not help the cradle cap at all. Any advice?
  12. Hi all Does anyone know how to go about obtaining a copy of your birth notes/maternity records back from Kings? Thanks Hollie
  13. Thanks everyone. Worry not...I'm in no rush to overdo it, but I know how quickly classes and courses fill up in East Dulwich so just wanted to put the feelers out there really and register my interest well in advance. The post c-sec pilates and the powerpramming both sound great, so thanks for pointing me in the direction of these. 14. I think the Italian deli/food store in Dulwich Village does x
  15. Hi all My son was born by Caesarian section 11 days ago. Although still very much recovering, I am feeling better by the day and am keen to start incorporating some exercise into my routine again. I'm starting with walking as that seems to be enough for now, but I'd be interested in joining a yoga or pilates group in the near future. Does anyone have any experience of doing these after a Caesarian, and if so, how long did you wait before starting? Are there any specialist classes locally? Any feedback, thoughts or advice much appreciated. Hollie x
  16. Our amazing little boy, Oscar de Cruz, arrived on Friday 3 December at 7.06pm, weighing 7lb 14oz. Love to all the other mums and babies x
  17. I had a similar problem and couldn't get onto a standard weekly course in the East Dulwich area, so ended up booking onto an intensive one which was run by Tessa in East Dulwich. It was run over two Tuesdays (10am-4pm) with a breastfeeding workshop on one Thursday morning (10am-12.30pm). I am SO glad we ended up doing this course, and thought it worked really well over the two days. There were seven couples all together, we all live within about 5 minutes of each other and are already meeting up in the pub on a weekly basis (Tess gets you to set dates in the diary to meet up with each other when the course finishes, then a reunion when the babes arrive). You are entitled to take time off work to go to the classes, and I'd say it's better to get on an intensive course locally rather than a standard one further away.
  18. I got this (see attached) from my HypnoBirthing course - it seems very comprehensive and I certainly plan on using it. Hope it helps x
  19. Hi all Can anyone recommend a good baby changing bag? I ideally want one that I can hang across the handle bar of the pram. Thanks Hollie
  20. Congrats Penny - fabulous news! Just a reminder to everyone that there's a first-time mums meet up tonight at Green & Blue on Lordship Lane, from 7pm onwards - would be lovely to see some new faces. No need to confirm, just rock up with your bump! x
  21. This is all really helpful - thanks guys. I look forward to the nappy trials! x
  22. Expecting first baby in November and want to start stocking up on nappies and the like. We've just bought some Pampers newborn nappies as we had a money-off voucher for them, but going forward, which brands have people found good? Everyone's trolley always seems full of Pampers, but a friend has said Sainsbury's own brand were fine (and they're obviously quite a bit cheaper) so I just wondered if you lovely lot can offer any feedback on brands you've used? Thanks in advance x
  23. Thanks guys...seems like the BT 150 is a popular choice! Onto the gift list it goes... :)
  24. Can anyone advise me on the best baby monitor to buy? I'm lost as to whether to buy a sound one, a sensor one, a breathing one...an all singing all dancing one - there seem to be so many to choose from...help! Expecting baby number one in November. Thanks in advance Hollie
  25. Congratulations on all the little beauties being born - it's lovely to see some of the photos on Facebook. Just a reminder that we have a Facebook group that you can join - just search for Dulwich Autumn 2010 mummies, request to join, and either Kerry, Lucy or myself will let you in. xxx
