  1. Yes you are right.. I Googled Water Charges for an average bath and somewhere in the mix came up with Gas Charges.. to heat the water... I Think ? I have noticed though that with a Water Meter there is also a Standing charge on top of what you actually use.. No idea what that might be.. ? Foxy

Yes you can use Skype if you have set up an account and paid credits. Skype is only free if you are calling some one else that has Skype set up.. You also need a microphone and speakers set up or a Skype phone.. What a pain all that is.. DulwichFox

  4. It is estimated that it costs between 30p and 90p to take an 150 liter bath, depending on the efficiency of your boiler. If you are taking a bath twice a day, you would use an average of 300 liters of water each day, at a daily cost of ?1.20 and an annual cost of ?438. I take a deep bath every evening and top up for a longer soak.. so bathing alone for me works out at approx. ?220.P/A My latest bill was ?376. so after bathing all my water usage for the year costs ?156. (43p per day) Thats drinking water, washing during the day, washing up.. washing machine... cleaning Thats pretty cheap considering the price of bottled water. Cannot see a water meter being cheaper.. Foxy

I checked 0800 from E.E. and it would seem calls are now indeed Free.. Changes to numbers starting with 084, 087, 09 and 118 As well as the Freephone changes, there are some changes to the way EE charge for 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers: 08 numbers are typically used for banks, utility companies, customer helplines, government departments and voting in TV shows 09 numbers are typically used for premium rate services 118 numbers are used for Directory Enquiries services Charges for these service numbers will be split into two parts: the Access Charge ? this is how much EE will charge you per minute for making the call the Service Charge ? this is the charge that is set by the company who is providing the service There you go.. Clear as mud.. Foxy

Here's a bit of real East Dulwich Heritage.. .. Nico Ladenis is a self-taught chef, and did not attend any culinary schools. .. Whilst working at his restaurant Chez Nico in Dulwich, London in 1976 or 1977 he met fellow chef Michel Roux at a party, who arranged for him to work for a week at the three Michelin star Moulin de Mougins under Roger Verg? That was 40 years ago.. Oh there was also a Walworths and a REAL Cinema.. Foxy

  13. With constant 'Rent Hikes' in East Dulwich soon the place will be killed off.. Only estate angents, M&S and some over priced eateries will remain... ...Peckham is being developed and if rent prices there are kept sensible East Dulwich will relocate there.. ...People will start eating and drinking in Peckham and E.D. will fall into decline.. ...The Bubble is about to Burst. 14. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It seems odd to me anyway that we have gas and > electricity meters as a matter of course but not > water meters. Problem with Water Meters is where to instal them.. If you have a supply to say a block of flats.. it is easier to have a standing charge for each flat.. Same if a house is divided into several units with a single supply into the house. Meters for Gas and electicity can easily be installed locally.. Foxy
  15. Like Penguine68 said.. One simple way of checking out the problem is to connect up via ethernet. If the problem persists it may well be a network issue, if it doesn't it's most likely a hub:router wireless problem. Where practical to do so, Connecting via Ethernet cable will give you a faster internet speed.. DulwichFox

The cause of the problem needs to be established and rectified.. Would seem to me to be a possible case of penetrating damp... Could be caused by damaged guttering which is spilling over and soaking the wall.. Pointing needs to be checked too. Just covering up the proplem will not resolve it.. like papering over the cracks... DulwichFox
  17. I don't make many calls but the ones I do are often long calls where you go 'Option Hunting.. ' The ones where you get.. 'Your call is in a Queue.....' , ' You are number 7 in the Queue.' Some of these calls are Free or Local rate from a land line but not from a mobile.. Also... You lose your phone.. or it gets stolen.. You get home and need to report it.. ?? You have lost your signal need to make an urgent call.. ??? I would never be without my landline.. Foxy.
  18. There is a single camera on Brownhill Road, Catford with road markings on both sides of the road. The camera is higher up and small and does not flash.. I assume it covers both directions. DulwichFox
  19. The main cause of erratic broadband.. Losing connectivity occurs with Routers operating at 2.4Ghz. The 2.4GHz frequency range is much more prone to interference, as it is commonly used by other wireless networks in the area, as well as cordless phones, garage door openers and other home appliances and consumer products. Routers using 5.0GHz .. The 5GHz band is less likely to be congested. Disadvantages of 5GHz: In general, the higher the frequency of a wireless signal, the shorter its range. Thus, 2.4GHz networks cover a substantially larger range than 5GHz wireless networks. In particular, the higher frequency wireless signals of 5GHz networks do not penetrate solid objects nearly as well as 2.4GHz signals, limiting their reach inside buildings with solid walls and floors. 20. From the picture, it would seem that all the cars parked there would have to reverse into the area covered by the zig-zags. It is still not clear that one should not park there. DulwichFox
  21. I live alone.. 20+ years a go 1990 at a time I was also living alone, They wanted ?2,000 to instal a water meter.. I suspect if you are married with 3 kids, Thames Water will fit one for FREE.. DulwichFox
