I did not say That The Cherry Tree will fail. The argument was its location. .. But the place will not thrive because it is near Sainbury's. (People in cars) .. and as most trade is after 21.00 (especially at weekends) there will be little trade from the station. .. and Dulwich Hamlet only play at home once a fortnight during the Football Season so that ain't going to make it pay. It will only be successful on its own merits. So not Negative.. Just realistic. DulwichFox

Everyone slags off the Foresters... Well the biggest problem in the Foresters and cause of most of the trouble was the Pool Table. Most of the scraps were around the Pool Table. Same for ANY boozer that ever had one. DulwichFox

Funny.. A friend of mine and myself just spent a pleasant afternoon drinking on lordship lane. The aircraft caused no problems. The traffic however with constant Ambulances, Police sirens and a fire engine were MUCH more of a disturbance. Not to mention the 176 buses.. Aircraft just do not fit into the equation. DulwichFox

Not everyone coming out of the station is heading for the pub and those that do will have their own favourite watering hole where they meet their mates. Many/most people shopping at Sainsbury's will be in their car so wont be drinking and those on foot will probably want to get their food home and get it in the fridge/freezer. Dulwich Hamlet FC has a good cheap bar that satisfies most football drinkers... A few DHFC drinkers use the EDF and for most ED residents they would have to pass 2-3 other pubs to get there.. So not the best location at all. DulwichFox

Rats at East Dulwich train station
DulwichFox replied to usagi's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think rats are common on railway lines and property.. They can regularly be seen on the London Underground. DulwichFox -

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How so? People are happy to go on holiday and fly around the World but don't want Planes flying overhead. The problem in East Dulwich is much less of a problem than say in Staines and closer still to the Airport.. It's like people who drive and then complain about the traffic.. Ridiculous argument. Not quite 100 years.. ..but Amazon: Nearly 20 Years In Business And It Still Doesn't Make Money, But Investors Don't Seem To Care.. and the owners of the Cherry Tree certainly did not care either.. DulwichFox

I fail to see that a 'Posh' Pizza Place, a Japanese Restaurant a few Stik paintings and Doggy Popcorn warrants the term 'Gentrification' DulwichFox

Anyone who has ever travelled in a jet airliner to go on holiday has no right to complain about aircraft noise You would of flown over other people houses both at home and abroad.. DulwichFox

Perhaps I should of mentioned in the 'Where has summer gone ' thread that I'm off to Turkey next week where Summer is... ... but whilst on the subject of 'Wrist action' Heyhem. it may be worth mentioning that anyone travelling to Turkey should not buy T-shirts with '31' on them. Otuz bir is 31 in Turkish and Otuz birci is a thirty-oner. and a 31er is a W****r. Otuz bir ?ekiyor he pulls 31 times. They tell you 31 is a lucky number in Turkey... They think its a right hoot..
