  1. Avon skin so soft is the answer. Proven to repel mossies and midges. They sell it in mountaineering shops in the highlands.

SCSB79 - its the top end near Donkey Alley. Kind of agree with your last point - i wont say anything again - just call the police. simples. My friend in Glasgow once saw some people sitting in a car outside his house throwing rubbish onto the street. He walked over picked it up and threw it back into their car. hilarious. not sure that would work here though....

Eh? Assume you are taking the p*ss right? You weren't in the Goodrich road area on Sunday afternoon wearing a purple t-shirt and a Yankees hat were you? - of course you werent - from your post you appear to be literate. Anyway - not exactly constructive telling people to move to a gated community to avoid seeing the hoi polloi. If you had some dodgy looking people anywhere outside your house you would want them to move on - whether you had the balls to go and say anything or not. The point is that people have a right to stand in their front rooms and not feel threatened. Also - if people were drinking outside in the street thats an offence is it not (i await correction)? certainly is whre I hail from! PS - we got broken into about 6 months ago and a lot of damage done to our property - so I feel I have a wee bit of a right to be over protective of my home.

What time was that at? just after 3.30? Probably the same set of ***** that I had the misfortune to meet. Really sorry to hear they shouted at you as well - did you report it? If not you should. I think they were waiting for someone who lives further up my street (hence there being 3 when you saw them) - I'd recognise them and will call the police if I see them again. We should not have to put up with this sh*t in our own neighbourhood.

Hi - I didnt find it "offensive" as such - but my front fence is about 4 feet away from my living room window and having two dodgy looking pr**ks hanging about outside did not make me feel particulary great to be honest. Also - the point is that its my fecking fence and if I dont want someone sitting on it I should have the right to politely ask them if they would not mind leaning on it and not be faced with a completely unacceptable barage of abuse.

lol - if it had been anywhere north of the border I would have said yes probably.... Have reported to Safer Neighbourhood team. Finger crossed they will say the same sort of thing to the wrong person one day soon and get a proper hiding for it. scum.

Goodrich road - just generally verbally abused and told to "f**k off back into my house" and who the f**k did i think I was" - they then leaned over the fence and threw our recycling bin all over the place. Extremely agressive - and absolutely no need for it. All i said was would you mind not leaning on my fence...

Just confronted two "youths" who were leaning on my front fence only to be verbally abused and threatened. Am absolutely seething....call the police and report it or not...?
  11. Who's doing the repairs...? Last time they were in my area they reversed into my girlfriends car and wrote it off! to be fair - they left a note, but still.....
  12. James - apparently the council have told Val's shop (top of LL) to get rid of their fruit and veg display - see separate thread for details http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,397438- given them 20mins notice. Any reason why that you can think of? Or is it just the new sainsbury's dont want the competition... Cheers
  13. I think they do offer the DNA kits - give victim support a call.
  14. Has Cost Cutter been asked to do the same thing? - I usually buy my veg at vals - Im not going to start going to Sainsbury's. What a crock.
  15. we got done in September - nightmare - Sorry it happened to you. Victim support and the police were really good and gave us window alarms, spy holes for the door and a "london bar" for nothing. Also some DNA kits to mark our property when the insurance coughed up. Worthwhile calling them.
  16. What a grade A waste of time! The whole point of PAYG surely is so you dont have to queue up to buy tickets! Why do they need to make things so fecking complicated. How hard can it be to work out where you clocked in and out, where your card covers you for and debit the difference. Fools!
  17. yeah - it sucked - not much fun trying to grab all the photo ablums etc and get them in the car! The linked fire alrams sound like a good idea actually. I'll look into them.
  18. Hi folks - It was the flat above me that caught fire. Everyone is OK - just some water and smoke damage. Not sure why 4 fire engines turned up! but better to be safe than sorry. Would advise everyone to get smoke alarms etc fitted - although we were downstairs at the time and didnt smell any smoke and only realised when our neighbours hammered on our door. Would not like to think what would have happened if they had not been in....could have been very bad. Now we have some lovely insurance crap to deal with...although am now slightly worried about the earlier post about inadequate insurance.... they joys... I'll pass on everyones kind words to our neighbours. Thanks
  19. Thanks for all the tips folks - and if anyone did see someone with a Blue holdall please let me know - cheers! A few trips to the DIY stores coming up methinks
  20. thanks everyone. Can I ask a question - whats a "london bar"?
  21. thanks James - the safer neighbourhoods team have been round already and gave me the DNA kit (for whats left of my valuables....) Interestingly the police last night told us there was LESS chance that we would be burgled again.....
  22. yeah I guess so. Absolutely seething about losing my camera - had not had a chance to download the photos from two recent holidays. At least no one was hurt.
  23. Just had the "safer neighbourhood" team round from the police - apparently there have been several other break-ins following the same sort of method of entry in the areas in the past week or so.
