... just noticed mini estate. Might be a bit lengthy?

Got a KAMEI 450, symmetrical from www.roofbox.co.uk a couple of weeks ago. They do a package deal with roof bars. Came to about 330 quid with Thule roof bars. It's quite a big one but will still fit through the loft hatch. Not cheap but like anything else worth paying a bit more for a bit more quality/longevity/peace of mind. Did a camping run down to Dorset last week. Little bit of extra noise. About 2mpg less on a Volvo. After 5 minutes you won't even notice it (except I put it on slightly skew and it gave the car a very slight pull to one side). Absolutely recommend it.

Ferk it. I'll start... Thar I blow. I might be a humpbacked nineties dance electronica musician and my name might be Richard.

We have a pond in the garden which I intend to fill and turf over for (human) safety reasons. In doing so I would be responsible for depriving some frogs, and probably a few other species, of their habitat. I have been to the London Wildlife Garden in Marsden Road to seek their advice and the good people there told me that this is the worst time of year to do it. The frogs can't just be transferred to another pond because the likelyhood is a risk of transference of disease. The options I'm left with are to wait until winter or to give the frogs a new home in a new pond. Bit of a long shot, I know; Has anyone recently installed a pond or intend to do so? Anyone (know) a professional gardener/landscaper who might have a suitable project on the go? Any help gratefully appreciated.

Kestrel in East Dulwich
Albert Fegg replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A pair of kestrels nested and reared their young in one of the towers of St John's at the top of Goose Green three years ago. They haven't been back unfortunately. -

VW Campervan Stolen on friday night
Albert Fegg replied to Mary McGeown's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ouch. Sorry to hear about this Mary. I hope it gets returned to you one way or another. I was advised to always park with the front wheels turned so they are tightly in contact with the kerb. This makes it difficult to get apparatus under the wheels to lift the vehicle on to a flatbed. -

petition to get the olympic torch to come through ED.
Albert Fegg replied to Gavain's topic in The Lounge
According to this it's not coming through Southwark at all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17358291 Something to do with there not being an M&S to feed the torchbearers. -
E.D.Station controlled parking zone
Albert Fegg replied to joobjoob's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I plan to park in the next road to where I live. That way, I'll be saving money, giving myself more opportunity to get to know my neighbours by parking outside their house, and getting a little bit more well needed exercise by walking between my house and my car. Also, I'll be doing my bit for the community by freeing up the space directly outside my house for whoever wants it. I also think a 'shed swap' scheme would be good, where I use my neighbours shed, and they use mine. That way I'll be able to use their lawnmower while mine is still broken. -
Lead stolen from roof on Ondine Road
Albert Fegg replied to Albert Fegg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for the info everyone. I won't tell you what we're doing incase 'they' are watching (assuming 'they' can read). -
Over the weekend some thieving toerag scum got into the back garden (which is gated and locked), climbed the scaffolding and stole all the lead flashing from the new part of our roof which is in the process of being replaced. I haven't spoken to the neighbours yet and won't be able to until Wednesday. Have reported to the police. Anyone see anything? Anyone experienced similar?
