  1. Yes Any cake crumbled plus fudge topping like the Betty Crocker tubs ...for some reason shop bouught is best Lollipop sticks and as above Hundreds and thousands or similar stick to melted chic You need a florists sponge to let them dry They are fiddly but fun... And a bit of a faff. I did fifty of them last year ."took a few hours but looked good
  2. Depends what you like to do Cinema - could recommend Mirror, Mirror Lovely Walk - could recommend Shoreham in Kent (train from Peckham Rye) Painting Crockery / Build a bear / something creative with my 7 year old we like to cook together - and go for coffee / milk cake in a lovely cafe just the two of us - or about 1/2 hour shopping
  3. You could express yourself in your cellar or garden shed with the all the other mid-life crises blokes ? just sayin' personally I think that this http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/nov/24/middle-class-dub-reggie-sly kind of answers your question as to why you're not wanted to play "middle class dub" (shudders)
  4. you know I think these are one of those child things that can go in the 'not really needed' pile you can put a spare mattress or a duvet on the floor if you want (I seem to recall we did this) but they learn very quickly how not to fall out - it's amazing
  5. I exclusively breastfed to 6 months - and beyond mainly because I had no issues, pain (beyond first few days) or need to return immediately to work and it was easier than faffing with bottles and sterilising. If any of these factors had affected me I would have had no qualms (or minimal ones) swapping to formula. There can be no judgement in how you choose to feed your children - the people I judge are those who don't bother with their children not those who agonise over every decision. I think, in the main, if you love your children and want to do your best for them - then that's good enough!
  6. Can highly recommend the East Dulwich Youth Theatre - Thursday evenings at the Constitution Club on East Dulwich Grove Helen does amazing work with the children - it's very collaborative, like drama workshops and there's always an end of term production that is guided drama (eg no learning lines, prompted and slightly casual) She chooses brilliant storylines to work with - last time it was Tristan and Isolde and a journey into the Greek underworld - with the children sharing characters as the story progressed
  7. Not that I'm cynical or anything, and tbh I don't particularly care, but how come you've gone from quoting websites to having seen the actual postcodes? LOL
  8. LOL I'm frequently satisfied but not by spurious statistics

Yes you are right I would be extremely surprised to hear this judging by the huge number of coaches - where do you get this information from?
  10. May I cordially suggest that you contact your daughter's school and discuss this with the head of year / headteacher if it concerns you. A child's education is a partnership between school and home and I'm sure if you have concerns your child's school will be happy to talk to you about it.
  11. I would bet that many of those students are not of the 'leafy suburb' - the catchment for these private schools is wide hence the numerous 50 seater coaches outside all the schools before and after school.
  12. 93% of the population don't go to private schools in our leafy suburb it seems to be a fact that is often overlooked
  13. What kind of 'project discussion' and who for and what is the eventual aim of this 'project'?
  14. Also read any of the myriad 'Steiner survivor support forums'; read up on Anthroposophy and decide for yourself whether this is what you want - but please look beyond the initial liberal and extremely appealing 'ideals' that do fit well with ED bunting-cupcakery and truly investigate this approach to education.
  15. Has anyone found out what a "maternity nurse" is yet?
  16. Many of us do not want Steiner philosophy anywhere near our children so actually I think it would cause far more problems for the area!
  17. oh what a shame, I quite like the idea of being a freelance parent when I feel like it
  18. oh and I forgot this salient point - parents don't like being bombarded with marketing messages
  19. 1. safeguarding children is paramount 2. parents don't like being bombarded with marketing messages from sales people / worthy causes 3. using the word 'charity' does not make you above reproach and the information would have to be investigated by any conscientious school down to charity registration and no impropriety with the funds. 4. parents don't like being bombarded with marketing messages

  21. Whilst I'm delighted for those families to the North who have no doubt secured places at Charter I have to say that I am not aware of any child in my area receiving an offer from Charter - despite the fact that every preceeding year has seen Charter offered to these roads as first allocation - this has had a huge impact on a number of families and I am still unclear why the information provided before we made choices, back in October, did not include the slightest hint of an appeal / issue with 'safest walking distance' I do wonder how those to the South (true leafy Dulwich) fared - but I know that we to the East in East Dulwich have been detrimentally affected by this.
