  1. Well today when I passed by there were only 2 coaches Both parked outside the coach bays (which were empty) on the yellow lines and directly opposite each other law to themselves

I'm sorry I thought you knew the width of Turney Road - can you imagine a full-size coach doing a 3 point turn on it? Genuinely? I would prefer Parking enforcement to be fair across the borough and that a blind eye not be turned because it's a private school. I have no issue with coaches driving down the road in any direction - I have an issue with them parking outside the designated coach bays, on both sides of the roads, on yellow lines and causing obstructions for the rest of us.... drivers, pedestrians and cycles. I also have an issue with them leaving their engines running. Equity in all things
  3. Ongoing idiocy from the coaches outside Alleyn's yet again. one of them managed to try to do a 3 point turn yesterday while the Alleyn's security guard watched, doing nothing. They are STILL running their engines There are still far too many and they park outside the coach spaces And yet it's still justifiable is it? Taxes - Public Road - Parking Regulations JamesBarber I'm ashamed of Southwark for doing nothing about this
  4. First off I know people will say 'get fit by walking to your car' - not the point from next week they are blocking off the parking outside - available to staff and disabled only members will have to park in the main school grounds and walk round and across the road so if you have a strenuous work-out and want to flop into your car and get home you'll have another walk afterwards or take the family swimming and its pouring down that's not ideal I'm slightly miffed - how do you feel about it (the first person to make the 'getting fit' walk to the car, or 'I walk to my gym' comment wins a kipper)
  5. Not heard of any break-ins on Rodwell Road tbh
  6. thanks for great suggestions - looking forward to taking pup out re dog poo -- I've lived here a long time, I'm fully aware that dogs poo and I have a duty to ensure that any antisocial behaviour from our dog is sorted by us, why you feel you have to make the point about it is beyond me, the warning post is kind of patronising. Still I suppose it gives something to say eh ;)
  7. Ignoring the obvious Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye Park, woods I was wondering if there are other places that are good to go to also which pubs, shops are OK for dogs to go inside (that also allow children) for example I know the Gowlett does good pizza and lets children and dogs in and I also know that White Stuff allows dogs on leads inside Thank you
  8. Occupied but not by the police who come out to ED - I think they come from Peckham station I think it used to be a CID office (not sure about that one) - they used to house police horses there but sadly they were moved about a number of years ago the railings and netting are because bits of the building fell off there is a working police station at the front that you can walk into to report stuff I believe
  9. maybe their staff can't get in and home safely
  10. We used ecoballs for a year or so - until we realised that it was all a con and they didn't really work but washing at temperature and the agitation gets a certain amount of dirt out anyway
  11. go to Govt Schools Finder and enter your postcode then ring round there is no way they are all full year 8
  12. They don't publish 'catchment areas' as far as I know it tends to be SEN, siblings then proximity hope that helps - lots of good schools for primary aged around here so I wouldn't panic unduly
  13. I find that over-sentimentalised and bizarre blog entry Monkeys and humans are of course different species, in fact I do believe macaque monkeys go swimming with their babies attached to them paying them no attention, they also kill their young. Monkeys throw poo as warnings. Slings, back-facing and forward facing buggies are appropriate to the developmental stage of a child. Communication is always appropriate
  14. aha I looked for dog and for vet which will explain it - thanks
  15. I've had no returns from searches on all boards, all year for a few weeks now - is there a problem and are you aware of it? Or am I suddenly doing something wrong?
  16. take a place in the indoor market if anywhere - rents in ED are ridiculous I don't think you'd make it work here tbh - but hell what do I know?
  17. Great route which I would use if buses were up to 10 minutes apart - unfortunately you need to allow at least a 30 - 40 minute wait just in case on a daily journey for the 37 to actually turn up - so I drive / cycle instead
  18. I'm sorry to be late coming back to this but one, and only one thought has jumped into my brain as I've read on and it is ... WTF people. Surely, it doesn't matter. :))
  19. With apologies Alan I bow to your greater knowledge of all threads on East Dulwich Forum and am impressed by the time you have put in to the forum in order to catalogue every single thread. Or not.
  20. With apologies for DM link - did you know we were 'exotic'? shot mostly in exotic Dulwich and Herne Hill, South London

It certainly > doesn't sound like you have much knowledge of > 'life with children' from your post. Well that's a rather rude reply to a perfectly decent post which merely asked for some more information. If it's any of your business yes I have children and yes I've taken them many places thank you - I also work in a school so have quite a lot of experience, quite possibly more than you do although that would be an irrelevant comment too Would you like to know anything else about me before I'm allowed to ask questions abou an open post in a public forum? I am concerned that people feel it appropriate to glare at a 7 year old and feel proud about it - I wonder if it is only parents of pre-schoolers who do not appreciate quite how young a 7 year old is. I totally applaud speaking to the child if the parents are not dealing with it and I strongly believe in community parenting but that implies caring about the other child too
  22. I would wonder why you would stand close enough to a squirting water gun to get your baby drenched to be honest Glaring at a 7 year old is hardly appropriate but telling them what they did was unkind is totally fine dependent on how you spoke to her of course. Would be interested in what the father said to you tbh
  23. You don't have to refer to a nice glass of Merlot as juice
  24. Ibuprofen works quicker and for longer than paracetomal and is anti-inflammatory so would be more effective on teething pain I don't think calpol is a better alternative than ibuprofen so don't understand why you'd prefer to give it - in fact I have always given ibuprofen first and calpol for an extra boost and in answer to your question up to a week but you probably won't have to for more than a couple of days
  25. The Steiner schools are really impressive from the outside - and it's only when you look fully into it that it becomes concerning Please look fully into Steiner philosophy - there are huge arguments and many 'victim' sites Look at anthroposophy and racism http://www.waldorfcritics.org/index.html http://www.social-ecology.org/2009/01/anthroposophy-and-ecofascism-2/
