  1. Yes they are I'm sorry to say. But ask for an appointment and discuss it calmly with them unfortunately even though you were upset that doesn't mean that the Head had time to speak to you - they should have offered you an appointment though
  2. I object to Steiner education wholeheartedly and encourage everyone to read the debates that proliferate the web about this contraversial 'education'. the concept of hiding a religion in education, the science vs pseudo-science debate, the foundations of anthropophosy, of the cultish nature anyhow read up for yourselves google it or as a starting point http://www.stelling.nl/simpos/anthroposophy.htm

Well the Townley Road ones weren't there in the run-up to christmas when Alleyns had broken up as far as I saw - and I didn't see them the first week of January - nice if I'm wrong on this one

Is that it Curmudgeon? Oh now Michael surely you know the benefit of private sector is far shorter terms!
  5. What annoys me about them is that they are only there when the private schools are open! what is that about
  6. you are totally barking if you think East dulwich is a run-down area
  7. By the time they start full-time school, so rising 5 - by this stage they should be competent at taking coat on and off, toileting themselves and getting changed for PE or swimming (however you might end up with back-to-front clothes at the start) including shoes (but not laces necessarily) A nursery saying they should do it is IMHO being slightly on the lazy side

  9. Sounds wonderful I agree on the 5 to 8 - you might want to consider children's parties too (if you're up and running by february I'd book it)
  10. How many people were at Dawson Heights please PeckhamRose - we really want to go one year - do you have to get there early or is it just pitch up just before midnight? Thanks

I'm not sure I understand You went to the doctor - he said you have a virus, fluids and rest needed which all seems appropriate - I don't understand the problem. He left the room with a "so-called sorry" but didn't say goodbye ... huh? Is that he wasn't sympathetic to your symptoms? I wonder how many non-specific viral cases he'd seen that day alone. My 6 year old has had a 39 to 40 fever since boxing day, we went to DMC on New Year's Eve (given appointment 20 mins after calling) saw a doctor who gave the same advice and an advance prescription for antibiotics in case fever doesn't break by day 7 for antibiotics. I said thank you, I made 6 year old say Thank you and wished her a Happy New Year. She smiled in response. No complaints.
  12. Pay it Forward
  13. I like the independents on LL and Iceland, not overly fond of Co-Op but we have Tesco or Sainsbury's (x 2) and I can Ocado when I like as it's free delivery if you do it late mid-week. So I vote No Thanks - I believe they will be detrimental to the character of the area.
  14. I particularly liked this bit on that apocalyptic site Breaking News: Monday December 20th, 2010 "Last Friday's update will be the final LATOC Breaking News update. LATOC will remain as an archived resource here on the web but will no longer be updated. I'm moving on to focus on my astrological and related practices. Those of you who have asked about consultations, my standard rate is $200 for a full anaylsis of your chart in MS Word format. More infomation at my astrology site: MattSavinar.net" Best of luck,

  16. oh FGS - good for you following the case from the beginning and making your little judgements because you feel they must be guilty of something it's great to be a Daily Mail reader isn't it? [huge, flashing sarcasm sign just in case of any doubt]

  18. God but you must be in dire straits to be stealing milk at 3.30 in the morning

  20. bravo on all those ED shops holding out until at least December I detest any mention of Christmas before December
  21. "As we all are aware" ... err no actually I don't even know what arethusa means Why don't you talk to the school about it? Is this not a bizarre place to be complaining about a school trip? Surely the school / pta / parental community would be an appropriate place and not an open community forum.
  22. I think you'll find it's involved parents that make a difference and not the class of parents
  23. I would be asking your school what they are doing to support your child to be honest - what are their plans? Are they planning to provide 'more help with phonics and spelling'? Surely any good school would offer more one to one with her (or small group work) and directing you how to support at home. I think tutoring a 5 year old at home who goes to school full time may not be the best use of a small child's time I apologise that I haven't answered your question, as I don't know any tutors, but I would be extremely concerned if your child's school is not addressing this issue and advising you to seek external help - your child is very very young and should be playing and having fun and downtime when out of school
  24. If your friend gets a private consulation I would suggest 1) charting for at least 3 months before seeing them - write down when period starts, when you have sex, when you ovulate (ovulation predictor kits or charting) and take this along 2) getting GP to do initial sperm and blood tests - say you will fund any treatment required but that GP should do initial tests If consultant then recommends clomid get them to write to GP and get GP to write prescription - it's a bloody cheap pill as it's been around for so long
