Is the 484 the worst bus service in London ?
berryberry replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think you are being pointlessly noisy and condescending. I'm sure I know the correct and proper bus routes and how to go about my journey. I added to the discussion as I have an experience of the buses being rubbish. I didn't need someone to go "well you should do it this way". No, they bus company should run a more efficient service. Possibly just simply as efficient as it is supposed to be would be a good start. Thanks though SeanMacGabhann for your perspective. -
Boris didn't deliver it though. He was just the plonker with the title when it arrived.

Is the 484 the worst bus service in London ?
berryberry replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
no you can ask but I'm hardly going to divulge my private information. P13 frequents east dulwich and I need to use it and its a poor service. -
You know it was Ken Livingstone who got the bike docking stations and it just took so long to organize that Boris is taking the credit.

Is the 484 the worst bus service in London ?
berryberry replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I rely on the P4 and P13 and they are awful bus services. Three an hour and sometimes they don't come at all or are full up. I don't drive and I don't want to add to the congestion problem in london but I work in the city and go to the west end and the bus service are much better and they have tubes etc to cope with. I'm not comparing the problem to ten years ago, that is a lost and pointless place to draw comparisons, I'm just comparing to other parts of london. I had to get a bus home from camberwell the other week which is not far, even late at night with no traffic it took me over an hour to get home because I waited 45 mins for the P13. That is a bad service. -
Professional pics of baby - any recommendations?
berryberry replied to MrsC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
MrsC the best time to have your baby pics down is asap. The younger they are the easier they are to photograph but personally the best time is at about 6 months when they've had time for any bruising and swelling to recover from being in bump and when the fat cheeks and giggles are plentiful. the magic hours Matt Farrow is dulwich based. berryberry replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The bus services in this part of london are exceptionally awful. I sometimes wonder if its due to a lack of tourists and density of commuters but people if they can afford it just use their car instead with just adds to the traffic congestion and slowness. It doesn't work if the answer is "that's public". Low income people depend on the bus and the general lack of tube and distance from trains stations means there is more reason for it to be good. You have to complain to bus companies or your local mp. -

rats are brazen and attack. I honestly had a run in with one once. It came at me snarling and ready to bite me and I gave it a good whack with a broom. I'm glad all that rounders came in useful at last. They are fierce and can attack even without provocation. They are vermin, spend all kind of nasty. Once seen, it is usually a sign of the population getting out of hand and they need exterminating. Rats thrive on waste left by humans and in a city that is not a natural keeping with the eco system useful thriving, its a rats in your home nibbling on the toes of your children. Kill the rats.

Do you ask for seat on train/bus?
berryberry replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Ladies, you need to learn to speak up and if not for yourselves then do it for your babies. Bus drivers are nutters, you must sit down. All through my pregnancy I asked people politely if I could sit down. My bump was small and people didn't notice I was pregnant. They were mostly really sorry and stood up. To be honest I think it made them feel good about themselves, having done a decent thing. More so, My little point of naughty was that my c-section meant I carried on asking after I was pregnant because my c-section split. Ask, it is a little nerve racking but you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by the kindness you get back. -
peckham terminator "Alison moyet shut your beeping mouth" and "wait til my mum gets here" are highlights. I hope it creates some useful discussion on bus rage.

what makes teenagers get up ???
berryberry replied to womanofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Its actually a developmental thing. Teenage boys need lots of extra sleep like babys do when having a growth spurt. Its puberty, be nice. -
I decided to search dulwich on youtube. My personal favorite is "dulwich gangs". His mum doesn't need to worry about her son at all.

yes please, I'm in. Are dads allowed?

Solidarity instead of smugness please
berryberry replied to Fi from West Dulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
yeah, I think motherhood is hard on everyone. My son sleeps through most of the time but I'm still tired and have a woefully messy house. I think the more insecure the mummy the more they seek to rouse the green monster of envy of the tired and overworked. Its just sad and rude. West dulwich is odd. I can't help feel in the playgrounds, streets, forum and general blah there is the overwhelming air of "what people think of me" as opposed to any connective spirit. I get the looks of disapproval and the judging and its tiring. -
Yet another question re: Bugaboo Bee
berryberry replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had an original bee, the seat was quite small and uncomfortable for bubs before he was 11 months, we found it was only any good with the maxi cosi carseat. I've found all other pushchair/prams to be a chore with the dragging and pushing so back to bugaboo, now have a bee plus. The seat is huge and bubs likes to stretch out and out his feet up. Bee plus is better because you can fold it up in the rear facing mode and you could not with original bee, the seat is much bigger and practical, both were better for under seat storage I found than other prams, bee plus wheels don't get stuck with mud like original bee. The adjusting height on the handles is better too. Its all small adjustments that make it so much better and more realistic for three years use as opposed to the 11 months you actually get out of original bee. Do not waste your time or money on old bee or anything that says bee 2010 makes sure its the bee plus with the spoked wheels. -

Some positive birth stories at Kings, please.
berryberry replied to Fidgetsmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Having said sorry if I caused any offense I don't feel you need to patronize me as well. -
My LO woke up in the middle of the OP so sorry. fmay, I wanted to go to the dulwich park meets but my son is at nursery tuesday-thursday so I'm looking to meet up on mondays or fridays? There seems to be a few mums interested who have children the same age so it would be great to encourage the young social skills and making some friends to play with. Maybe monday at dulwich park?

Nursery will not give me Child friends names
berryberry replied to reneet's topic in The Family Room Discussion
That is odd. My son's nursery make a point of introducing us to any new friends he makes in class to encourage his social skills. Its quite sweet. I agree with nunheadmum, just print up a general invitation and invite children in his immediate age group and wait for the confirmations. I hope it goes well.
