this is surely all too much information for a public forum? Gel, cervix, pain? I mean fair enough we've all been through it but by that stage it is surely for the domain of partner or actual birthing site. Has anyone had a baby literally on the forum before?

Juggling advice from the founder of JoJo Maman B?b?
berryberry replied to Gem14's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Keef Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I thought it was funny berryberry. I concur keef. littleED why call me snarky? why not make your own comment without being personal? when I was shopping for baby berry I had already decided to get my moses basket from jojo so thought I'd get his baby equipment from there. I had to get different stuff from different shops and when comparing the price of items that were non jojo branded sold at jojo, jojo charged considerably and significantly more for the same item than other retailers like mothercare. I still got my basket from there because I loved it but saved myself a fair penny buying from other shops as well. Having a baby cost enough without. I buy stuff from jojo but I approach with caution. That is just me though. -
Whatever one you go to be careful. Dulwich college was targeted by thieves yesterday and a fair few people got pick pocketed.

peckham soft play - a bad experience or normal?
berryberry replied to Saila's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I, personally, do not go to the playground or soft play and expect to spend my time looking for some badly behaved child whose parent who should be watching them in the first place. I go to have quality time with my own child and teach my child how to interact with others appropriately. I think it is poor show to expect other people to pick up your slack. I think that goes for the times I've stopped some kid trying to stamp on my child's head, 6 year olds kicking and punching toddlers, picking up kids who fall off climbing frames that are not age appropriate. I find this is not all the time but uncomfortably frequently and it pisses me off that it tends to be that the parents are off having their own social hour at the other end of wherever whilst other parents keep the stray children safe whilst trying to mind their own children. Not good. -
peckham soft play - a bad experience or normal?
berryberry replied to Saila's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I go soft play and no matter where you go there are obnoxious kids with oblivious parents. The parents want to be oblivious and go gossip when their children are being little monsters, so I just tell them off now. More often than not the children then behave and strangely start trying to play with us. It is sad because it seems they are being monsters for some and any attention they can get when their parents should just play with them in the first place. -
pushchairs and which is best for what?
berryberry replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
sb - new mum journalism bumpy - second hand maclaren quest all the way (?50 on here or ?12 on ebay) failing that, chicco buggies are cheaper and also quite good. -

berryberry replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
City- bugaboo bee or maclaren quest (any serious city folk need bus and tube access. These are public transport friendly options (you can always fit three of these in the space on the bus)) Country -Bugaboo chameleon or moutain jogger. The front wheel of three wheelers gets stuck in dips. Jogger - phil and teds or City Jogger Style- Bugaboo tops it, stokke I would put as a style buggy because its a lump of a beast, it tips over on the bus if not held, there is no shock absorbers so makes for a jiggly ride, It is a pain to pack away. Looks great, it is functional enough but doesn't do better than other buggys at anything except bring you physically closer together. Traditional - Not the silvercross actually, I had one as a baby but I never see them in london only in magazines. Modern Silvercross prams are cumbersome and heavy. I actually think Maclaren wins traditional buggy though I can see why you wouldn't think of it. I also had one which lasted over 20 years and is nicer than the modern one -they used to make the seats out of corduroy. (I actually had a stint as a pram/buggy tester, it was so much fun) icandy, bebe confort loola, silver cross and mamas and papas all not so good. -

The disrespecting of remembrance day by Muslim extremists!!
berryberry replied to untamedstylist's topic in The Lounge
Spelling and grammar tend to be learnt sometime before you get to university. Did I say I was a writer or university educated? It is not a little error your writing in both posts is erratic and hard to follow. I'm not a perfect writer, in fact I am actually dyslexic but I still manage. I'm not going to be blamed for misunderstanding if you cannot convey yourself clearly. Either way, a poppy is a symbol for something bigger but in itself is just a bit of paper and plastic. Don't let the actions of a few dent your bolder belief in something. Cartoons, satirists and general idiots in this country take the piss out of muslims all the time. It is not worth starting a war over now is it. That would be my response. Also, sometimes by giving airtime to nonsense just fuels more hate one way or another. Calm it. untamedstylist Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Berry berry I do appologies if my illiterate > writing confused u somewhat, I guess we are not > all writers but we can get our point across pretty > clearly to those with an open mind who don't > criticise EVERYTHING that does not conform to > Thier standards!!!!!! Can you really not oversees a breastfed baby?
berryberry replied to reren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
we've all been there. The cluster feeding drove me a little crazy so I upped my milk supply by expressing milk with a pump. It was just a more effective stimulant for the milk production and led to shorter more efficient feeds. -
thanks andy, I appreciate the response. I'll just assume someone was having a bad day and look forward to joining you all at some point.

The disrespecting of remembrance day by Muslim extremists!!
berryberry replied to untamedstylist's topic in The Lounge
It was hard to follow being badly written and ranting all over the shop. I think most sensible people will give poppy burning the time is deserves but don't perpetuate nonsense is the general theme. -
Be mystified. I was turned away and my offer of help reject at the dulwich festival fair at dulwich park. The woman I spoke to was unpleasant, he name was Louise or Louisa, had messy blond hair and was about 45. I'm a member of the public and that was my experience of DGG. It came across as a bit personal actually and I was shocked because I've set up a similar scheme in devon and was really looking forward to getting involved.

berryberry replied to untamedstylist's topic in The Lounge
Untamed what do you hope to achieve with this? If 35 english caucasians did the same would that be bring down the entire ethnic group? 35 self appointed people can not be held up as speaking for all muslims, across continents, countries and cultures. You are just making yourself an example of stupid vs. stupid. -
I tried to get involved with dulwich going greener. I went to speak to them about volunteering as a gardener and was told my help wasn't needed and but I could leaflet for them as no one wanted to do that. The woman was actually quite rude and inferred I didn't have horticultural knowledge. I'm a qualified gardener. I then saw another DGG trying to encourage someone else to help with gardening. I hope if you sincerely want people to join your group you need to get truly open minded and inclusive of all of dulwich instead of moaning that the rich people have taken all the land and its not fair whilst turning down the help of people who you don't perceive to fit the DGG image.

I think it can be weak to get pedantic on forum grammar as its people trying to talk and type. I think it is closer to an utterance than a sentence. But each to their own.

If people are dealing drugs in your area it is because people in your area are buying them. Supply and demand. It is probably more honest to deal with the demand than the supply. It is not like people go, oh my some chap is selling a bit o' coke at the end of my road I think I'll buy some. Its people in east dulwich want crack, I'll go to where my business is.

Baby allergic to our cats - what would you do?
berryberry replied to Layla's Mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Get rid of the cats, steam the house and get a vac cleaner with a hepa filter. You can start of with one allergy and watch it turn into a dozen as your system is constantly under attack. Nappy Lady is right, don't dismiss the visual symptoms as being as bad as it is. It feels like a symptom less heavy cold and its hard work day after day. It is horrible. I'm surprised you still have the cats, most people lose the cat before having the baby because cat allergies are very common. -
Where to go for a winter holiday in Dec / January?
berryberry replied to arworld's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think the point is that it is sunnier than here come mid winter. December is a good month to take very young children to egypt and the like because it is too hot otherwise. I was there last march and horrified by all the little kiddies crisping up in the sun or miserable from the heat. -
I thought pampers were terrible, they smelt worse than the wee and poo for some reason. They leaked, fell apart and then the lining stuck to my baby's skin. I can't understand why they are so popular. Tried the own brands and they leaked. Huggies have been the best by far. I think its a little like buying different dresses in different shops. There is a style and shape to suit different babies.

Lets look at the popes visit as an opportunity to
berryberry replied to dulwichmum's topic in The Lounge
So, Here is one I wish the world knew... Working backstage at the bafta awards this year I got into a conversation with Nicholas Holt, his agent and a nameless bafta representative. Turns out Nicholas Holt is to begin filming the next mad max film in 2011 in Rome. The Bafta rep lives in Rome and is best friends with the POPE'S BOYFRIEND! No word of a lie, the current pope has had a male lover for a few decades and the pope and lover own a house in Rome. Nick was invited to visit as apparently the pope and his lover would love to meet him as they appreciate fine young men. Nick responded politely. I smiled and nodded and tried not to laugh or cry. I made some enquiries and apparently the aid who advised the pope that the uk is like the third world is the other half. Brilliant. This needs to be outted as not only can I not stand the homophobic nazi paedo twat but this is just too hypocritical. Anyway, you never heard it from me. -
