Does anyone know of a guitar teacher who could work with a creative 8 year old? We've tried the school teacher but he was very old fashioned in approach with those standard guitar books full of joyless tunes. What we're after is someone who can start her learning properly with a passion, using modern songs. Not fussed about exams! Would love some reccos, please. Helena

Hi Sofia. Are you still looking for cleaning work? if so, what days could you do? We are based in Dulwich SE22. Many thanks Helena

I can't believe this is happening. Cycling is not really an option when you have to get 2 small kids to get to school and there is literally no other way that the South Circular and a car, electric or not. The standstill traffic is horrific for pollution and traffic AND not all the schools have even gone back yet. We might have to take ours out of their school as we just cannot afford a 1h 45 min round trip twice a day when we're both working. Totally mismanaged and selfish by the looks of what I've read. You cannot just do this to people. It stinks of NIMBYism

Thank you to @EastDulwichNewbie for raising this. It's a heartfelt plea to those who love our community: Please can all those who can afford to - and we appreciate that many people can't right now - find time to go into or call up their favourite cafe /bar/restaurant/pub etc in the next couple of days and hand over a chunk of money for credit when this madness ends? Yes, it maybe not be enough to save everyone and that is a risk we will take, but if lots of people give a little, it will make a huge difference to those businesses we all know and love. I'm talking about V?ro at the French Cafe Bistrot, those lovely Italians at Signoria. Places we love to be in, not just 'a place' to get something to eat and drink. Expecting these establishments to suddenly develop a voucher system is unfair, so we are asking them to get hold of a small notebook - a 'book of hope' to record people's details and offerings. If we are truly a community, this should be enough. Many of us are on first name terms anyway with our faves. Who's in? #LoveEastDulwich

Supporting local businesses
Mrs Nicklin replied to EastdulwichNewbie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm going to start another urgent thread about this. I know many of our community are freelancers and just lost all our work, which is devastating. Some on salaries can afford to help a bit however, paying for a few meals up front for when the coast clears at your favourite cafe or restaurant could be life changing for the owners. -
Thank you, I will pass this in. She is keen. You haven't said which caf? though, Please confirm! Helena

We've just done the same on a tall house with three landings but with only one door to paint. It cost us double that... I actually think that's not too bad at all. Does it include the paint? if so, I would say it's a decent quote.

Hello everyone, My daughter will be starting in Reception at Rosemead in September. We live in East Dulwich (Marmora Road) and wondered if anyone one else was close so we could potentially start sharing some picks ups and having play dates after school so the kids are not always having to do the after school club. Please PM if interested!

Getting au pairs insured on your car. Help!
Mrs Nicklin posted a topic in The Family Room Discussion
Please forgive the 'first world problem' nature of this message, but has anyone managed to insure an au pair who has just arrived in the country to drive their car? Are there any companies that will do this? It's kinda crucial to our whole childcare set up in Sept. Thanks for any advice! Helena -

Hi all, We recently used Lucy Sparkles for a joint birthday party for our 2 and 4 year olds. She was brilliant. All the adults hid next door (drinking wine!) as she kept 15 small people enthralled for 1.5 hours. There was singing, dancing, games, sparkly tattoos... The kids loved it and she was really good value. This is her webiste: [www.lucysparkles.com]

Hi Forum, I've bitten off more than I can chew trying to build my website myself. I have a Divi theme on wordpress.org and there seem to be some bugs that I just can't fix. I;ve asked their forums but as I don't speak html so have no idea what advice they are offering me! Is there any local expert who can help me out? Paid, of course. I just can't afford the fortune I was quoted by an agency.. Thank you!
