For anyone who lives on Oakhurst Grove, Ferris and Tyrrell Road just to let you know Ive just become the Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator. It would be great to foster a stronger community spirit on these roads, so please drop me an email on: [email protected] and tell me your concerns for the area, and also so I can get a picture of the people who live around me! Anyone not on these roads - do you have a local NHW group that you are involved in?, would be great to hear tips. Tom

blood sports and other such things
Thomas Micklewright replied to Thomas Micklewright's topic in The Lounge
More fozes are killed by cars than hunts - so yes DulwichFox your right, they can't use the 'its to protect my chickens' argument. Sorry i shouldnt have added badger culling, it isnt a sport. I dont agree with it, because a) I dont think it will work b) its to protect cattle, and I dont believe in keeping cattle. Im very suprised to see such an anti-hunt react from people, whats the difference between hunting and killing a fox and keeping a cow in a shed all its life and then cutting its throat? Tom ps. just for you katie i'll go and post about something else in the general section, keep your peepers open! -
Guten abend. So, blood sports? What's your take on them, from bull fighting in Spain,.hare coursing in Ireland and stag hunting in England. Badger cull anyone? If expressing belief through a glass window doesn't do it for you, then you are cordially invited to a talk on fox hunting at the Blue brick cafe, 7.30pm 8th December. It would be great to see pro-hunters there for a balanced discussion. Hope you can all make it, Tom For more info or to chat about hunts drop me a line [email protected]

I see it now, it didnt show on my phone. Childish? I dont think environmental destruction, deforestation and the desecration of our seas is a childish subject. -

Much imposed upon blue brick? They have received loads of free exposure in international vegan and vegetarian magazines from dvvs. It's all good. No I don't think the world will crush my spirit. Not giving up that easily. I wouldn't say I'm very far outside the establishment, I have a career, a pension and getting married next year. I just think the world would be more beautiful without animal abuse or deforestation. Tom -

Hey Nette, I'm 23. Sheltered upbringing? I don't think I have ever met anyone who knew that 30 million male chicks in the UK alone are killed every year as a waste product of the egg industry, did you know that? Tom -
Superb vegan food! Delicious.

How broken was the step? As broken as morleys morals for horrific treatment of animals prior to slaughter? Harp.

Most takeaways appear to be halal now. What do people think about schools and government institutions serving halal as standard? That was the real issue this thread was trying to address. Sorry sue still no clearer? Care to try again? Tom -
Ha I was only joking, but I wouldn't be adverse to getting the c cards done now in preparation!

Interesting OP. I struggle with this aswell. Re. People dropping litter I usually don't have the balls to confront them, wish I did. Re. Bigger things like what I saw this morning (lads smashing bottles in the street) or bikes being stolen, I call the ED safer neighbourhood team or 101 to report it to the police. I think we all need to take responsibility and confront / report more. Also police funding is allocated to areas where crimes are reported, so if you don't report it nothing changes. Tom -

Harp. Explain sue - what was your point if I have missed it? Reducing meat intake is good for the environment, surely whatever way people go about reducing their intake its all good for the environment, disingenuous or not? I don't mean to be disingenuous, I'm sure you would understand that if you met me. Nette, we do have meat eaters coming to the group, they have even commented how pleased they were with us being so friendly. So please do come along on 8th December! -
