    Breaking Bad

It's a bit nerdy. But I've just bought my own original "Better call Saul!" T shirt. It features the man himself, with wireless phone headset and socks, and a snail trail of randoms in neck braces behind him. He is one of the best characters by far.
  2. Now we are a good 15 years in, I had this thought on the bus this morning. Will there become such a thing as vintage /antique websites? Will there be web archaeologists in years to come whose job is to retrieve quirky historical data reflective of its time? Just coming across random early sites like this got me all nostalgic: http://quantumplate.com/ (I have no idea what this business is or was, and it's reason for existence has become lost in cyberspace)
  3. 6.55am - all buses are running. Trains running too (about 5-10 mins late and on a very slightly reduced timetable).

Southern trains are running on time this eve from Honor Oak/Forest Hill which is a decent indicator for Dulwich stations tomorrow. A reduced timetable is in place but there's still a decent frequency due to run. If they are screwed then I plan to walk it and or and bus again from Camberwell (if buses can't get over the hill).

Well said that Marmora Man. It's a mere frosting - get on with it!

Well, I can't help thinking we've gone a bit soft. The snow in Jan 2009 was a shock as London hadn't seen any for 15 years but it's been a regular fixture every year since. This weekends snowfall was predicted over a week ago and we're well prepared but it shouldn't stop central Londoner's getting to work. I'm sure we didn't all head to the pub in the 50's, 60's or 70's when some snow fell but correct me if I'm wrong....

    Snow go

4.30pm in the engine room of Great Brittania PLC and it has STOPPED snowing and the roads are all CLEAR. One FTSE client vacated their entire office at 2.30pm, another said anyone could nip off if they lived beyond zones 1-3. *depressed*

Got the new puffa jacket on and some boots. But why dont people just say they fancy bunking off earlier to laze in a pub looking at snow instead of getting the wheels of British industry moving again etc etc? Lightweights.

    Snow go

Been at work since early this morning and can't believe the number of conversations I've had today already with clients, mortgage adviser and basically anyone saying "not sure we'll be around later this morning/afternoon, given the weather". Most live within Zones 1-4. It's not like we're trekking to get to the artic circle is it? Yes we'd all like to bunk off early on a Friday but.... grrrrr.

    My Lidl Pony

For me its just another wake up call as to where some crap food actually comes from. Some (who enjoy mechanically recovered flavoured meats) will be like "meh its just food". Anyone who cares will avoid anyway. The source is looking more like a meat producer on the continent and that got me thinking about the numbers. Meat sludge from France is shipped to Ireland (by lorry), rusk /spice and crap are added, then they are shipped back to the UK by lorry frozen. And 8 burgers are sold for ?1. It's almost evil. Edit: Taking out all that overhead, I reckon each burger has meat with a value of 2 to 4 pence.

  13. Gordon Strachan for Scotland. Will he save us from eternal doom? Or did the SFA just offer more than his TV job?

  15. Jackie Brown was decent in an understated way no?
  16. Is it just unemployed or the elderly that watch more of this $hite. Or are there really sane hard working people out there watching it as the perfect remedy to a hard days toil? Just wondering....

  21. Two proper rip roaring Scottish Ceilidh bands in Scotland in my family and they've played in all kinds of places. It will be travel expenses + 1 nights digs + a fee (which is usually not too big as they just enjoy getting out somewhere new)

Quotes like this really bug me about your average British builder. You're the customer and so you can have whatever you want really provided you know what that is. It sounds like your typical fob off because knocking out a window is extra work and may involve another skill set. Very few things are technically impossible. Some are inadvisable for practical reasons but, within reason, this doesn't sound like one of them! You've had a bad experience previously but I'm sure there might be someone who does architecture or design on this friendly forum who could give you an initial view if you send them a few pics.
  24. Both. And also the entire ground floor....if that was where you are going :-)
  25. Nope - as they were sound, well seasoned and almost all level.
