  1. What *Bob* said. Those horns are starting to bug me - I can see me watching most of the games on MUTE with the ipod on. What odds can I get on 2-1 England tomorrow?

    First ever gig?

I should add I was 7 years old...still even so....
  3. Inspired by Keef...and SURELY this thread must have been done before...but I can't find it and have a guilty secret to get off my chest (don't laugh). Bucks Fizz - Edinburgh Playhouse, August 1983

One more and we have a conspiracy. I'm your third. It's pretty good. I just think by the time Second Coming out we'd all forgotten about them. And the band imploded which killed any come back fever they may have started to gather.....
  5. GIANT ENGLAND FLAG IN FLAT ABOVE WILLIAM ROSE ALERT...chances of them wheeling out a plasma and beer fridge onto the roof? Evens. I'm looking forward to watching Saturday's first game with my English mates. My prediction: the yanks will score first, bursting 4 years of over expectation. Then the scouser with the low hairline will bang in an equaliser, Lampard will miss a penalty and Crouch to score the winner (2-1 to England).

    Dishwasher

Just been through this pain. Bosch - always. Also known as "the smart landlords choice". They last for ever And Comet have a summer sale on - with some chunky web discounts.
  7. Darn...I've just noticed four emails asking me about that opening night! I didn't stand a chance with work - I'll take a look at the weekend if I get a sec....Help-ma-boab see you there (or at our usual Sat early pint meeting spot). Does it have any outdoor seating?
  8. All hail The Shorty. *Tips hat*
  9. I think its a race to see which forumite gets there before Sean -looking forward to one of his "opening night bar reviews" for which we've not had one for a while?
  10. I'd do the risk / reward maths - risk to personal safety and for your relationship with your wife vs the reward of an "ok salary" and the cultural experience that comes with living in an expat bubble (behind 12 ft walls of concrete). I reckon it's one of those interesting offers that instantly gets you dreaming of an escape from the hum drum of London office life but which also doesn't live up to the dream in reality. The one I always wanted as an employee was New York, Sydney or Singapore. Then you'd be talking.....
  11. They say life's over when you keep looking back. (And start getting up at 5am on a Saturday). Ever looked into your garden at 5am? "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?"
  12. Also BBC Radio 2 doc broadcast last night and now on BBC iplayer .here.
  13. Decent thread alert! I'm with the Captain....don't mess with a classic. I have fond hazy memories of listening to this for the first time...21 years old, totally broke, but actually IN the south of France with a nice girl I was seeing at the time. We were staying near Nice in this wee villa (free) with a punchy stereo, ten cold beers and a view across the hills. Made sense to listen to it then. GG/Keef - you're right the Stones are chasing the buck now but the reality is that they've always been business savvy since the earliest days. They moved to France in 1971 to work on Exile to escape a 93% top rate of tax. And as Mick Jagger has said about the film, "We weren't sure whether it was all over then....as moving abroad for tax reasons isn't really very cool".
  14. * Takes cover *
  15. - People met each other, became friends and cut out the middle man. - Or met each other and had a spat - Or got married (hats off) - Most topics have now been done to death. Square plates being a notable exception. - Lack of new posters with a brain (would a quick glance tempt you to post if you were new?) - Inanity (as per Rosie's post above)...and yes you Woof! - I'll say it....ED is far less interesting now than it was in the Great Age of Gentrification (circa 2000-2007) when property was cheap and new services, shops and bars sprouted by the month to the excitement of all concerned. (If you enjoyed the ride move to Nunhead or Bellenden fringes for the next one) - The suit count started to outweigh the creatives (always a sign that the next wave is elsewhere - see hoxton now).
  16. Boys and their toys eh? Doesn't matter how old we get does it? I'm still waiting for someone to give me a Tamiya Hornet for Christmas (it never happened). This all brings back glorious memories of sherbet flying saucers, white mice and quarters of cola cubes. My last Panini purchases were in 1984 and what was always odd was that the stickers you thought would be rarest (like the silver and gold foil European Cup) were easy to come by but others (like John Wark, Ipswich defender) were nigh impossible to come by unless you swapped all your marbles to the rich kid that had one. If anyone has John Wark from 1984 please let me know.
  17. Judging by the veritable volley, nay, DELUGE of cross PM's from Woof fans across the expanses of, er, Lordship Lane, the consensus appears to be that whilst annoying/loved in equal, Marmite-like measures, the dawg should be allowed to roam free and unfettered. I also thank the forumite who messaged me to remind that behind every Orville there lies a Keith Harris. http://thedailycrazy.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/orville1.jpg Long live the dog...... *Groans*
  18. When walking along a quiet street yet the only other person for miles is walking just ahead of me and at the same pace. I have to either cross the road. Or stop and let them get ahead. Or accelerate to a warp speed walk and overtake. But I cant walk just behind them. What is the correct etiquette in this situation?
  19. Dear Admin, Thank you for your continued and often unappreciated work behind the scenes to support this wonderful online resource for the community of East Dulwich. I would like to propose a separate Woofmarkthedog section - as a kind of ring fenced "sandpit" for Woof to continue his deluge of aimless, pointless, ADD ramblings by himself without spoiling the Lounge for the rest of us. Whilst the Lounge is meant as a place for light hearted banter, we have our limits and I believe I would have the support of many in giving Woof his own space to play in to spray his flotsam. He'd be able to have conversations with himself and piss/crap to his hearts content without spoiling forum enjoyment of others. What say you sir?
  20. That was a bit harsh Woof.
  21. He's the sort of guy who wears white pointy shoes from Burton, Lynx "Oriental" and too much hair gel. That alone is enough.
  22. I used to work with Gerrard Butler after my Dad employed him as a trainee lawyer. Gerry and I used to sneak out for a pint at the Conan Doyle and talk about girls. He left to take up acting at 28 and I didn't see him untill 5 years later when his chiselled torso graced a huge billboard on Times Square. The whole thing is a bunch of bollocks. But I'm secretly hoping for a party invite in LA sometime soon. Unlikely I think...
  23. What's fame anyway? I'm less impressed the older I get. Thanks to the fantastic but super tired nurse who stitched up my missus at Kings A&E the other night though. Our society is like, warped, man.
  24. Pickle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Kate walks past my house nearly every day, she is > ALWAYS on her phone. I've started wondering > whether she's actually talking to someone, or just > uses it as a cunning ploy to avoid having to talk > to people! Kate Ford is indeed a genuinely lovely girl. And she's not always on the phone. She's always happy, down to earth and makes a good cup of tea ;-)
  25. I don't blame the Lib Dems for trying and for a few more mailshots than the other parties given the bigger picture. Are 3 or 4 or 8 extra pamphlets really enough to make you want vote for another party? If that's a good reason then there is something surely wrong..... Annoying yes but no more so than the constant plague of low rent pizza and curry house menus. And also due to stop in 3 days time.
