I also the printed form better than this internet stuff or worse those e-books! I want the smell of a new book and to browse not download a file to an updated etch-a-sketch. SE22 mag has become increasingly irrelevant - the Rumours section quickly became hilariously out of date and fairly pointless now that we have the likes of Macroban on the internet thingamiggy keeping us well informed. Even the property in the ads had always been sold by the time it went to press. And the early excitement of the newly arrived middle classees on learning of a long awaited fresh fish shop/bar/baby wear store opening is all looking a bit 2005 now. It'll be a gradual turnover of these established businesses to variants of the same and more chains from now on. Then there was the My Week column, an exercise in mind boggling vanity on the editors part as she shared the minutae of her rather uneventful Dulwich week with us in detail. Like a printed blog but without the action. The one exception? Roullier White's column e.g. "At Easter we love to have friends to stay.... and what better to sustain them than a quails egg souflee!". Brilliant.

Almost everything that could potentially be done with the CPT is explored on another thread... Someone needs to buy the lease off that joyless woman, stick Keef in charge, the Inside 72 jukebox in and an Aussie bird with big tits behind the bar. And everyone will be happy again. Until that happens I'm sorry but it will remain a faded backwater pub that about 4 people drink in with silly wall paper out front and a velvet morgue in the back.

Regulars at William Hill by the Uplands grumbling that they are delayed laying their bets on the dogs as the long haired clueless masses (ok just ME) queue up to ask silly questions about betting slips. I have: Brooklyn Brownie E/W @ 28-1 and Parsons Legacy @ 18-1 to win I have just mowed a lawn, the sun is out and I have cold beer. Don't really mind what happens to my stake!

Is ED about to experience another property boom?

I agree Louisa. And I dont actually think you are joking. If I have to live in London then East Dulwich is a great place to be. But lets be honest there are a million better places to live for quality of life. Amazing city but truthfully it's serving a purpose, a place to find a nice girl, make some money, have a bit of fun....and after I've had my fill why would I live here longer than I need to? I fell in love with Sydney when I lived there, an awesome place to raise a family and for general quality of life. South of France if you want lifestyle but an easy flying time home. And Scotland if you want to stay within the UK. The borders is a beautiful place. All I need is my macbook and a Blackberry. Edited due to hangover -

The police are containing different sections of protestors which is causing aggravation as they cant all join up. Just as weel as I'm enjoying teh peace of the climate camp where an obligatory drum circle has just kicked off in earnest. Did anyone see Southpark when Cartman was a Hippie exterminator? A pest controller for hippies. "I'm sorry but you appear to have a drum circle in your garden and it will need to be removed". A nice girl in a bikini is dancing without any shoes on - highlight of the day so far. Well that and Police Skittles. -

Who needs Sky or the beeb when you have the EDF and your "man on the ground" Mr Ben? Tenners now waved out of windows - the old 1999 joke - and not clever nor funny. -

A few more mini riots now on Threadneedle but best of all is the Climate Camp outside my office on Bishopsgate. Hundreds of tents planted and its very peaceful as everyone is stoned and the police have other things to worry about than class C possession. If this was Glastonbury then Bishopsgate is now the Green Fields. -

Behind a line of 10 policeman prtecting Cornhill a group of about 30 guys in black suits, hoods and masks gather (are these the Anarchists?). Out of the blue they charge the police, break through their lines and have just steamed past us. I've ducked up an alleyway. About 5 arrested the rest have ran down alleyways to regroup. Nobody hurt (yet). Its only 12.50pm....I bump into a lawyer mate in a suit with his 35m Canon wound his neck - boundaries are a bit blurred here as usual... but it's the police getting grief. I wanted to witness this. But heading back now. At a gym on threadneedle a crowd has gathered to watch the TV pictures beamed onto sky from events happening just 100 yards away -

12.28pm I'm outside Bank of England, Cornhill side. A New Orleans jazz band is playing "We shall not be Moved". Mardi Gras feel as colourful skeletons of bankers and other effigies are hoisted aloft. Cheers as another march arrives from Moorgate.... -

I'm now locked in a building off Bishopsgate - surrounded by a ring of steel. Strong police presence with 8 anti riot vans parked in our lane alone. Helicopters overhead. Police observers on roof tops. I came in my jeans but you can spot a dressed down city boy a mile off so wont make much difference. I agree with lots of the reasons behind this protest (and would join the peaceful demonstrators) but I also risk a smack in the face by the virtue I make a humble living in this area. There is a feeling you get when an uprising of the people is in the air - it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. And I have not seen it for a long time. I'll try to keep you posted....the sandwich run could be interesting. MrBen -

There will be a jolly and very friendly Candian mum and sister on (almost) their first ever jet lagged night in the UK. Their first ever vist to East Dulwich too. Do I take them to the london Eye? or out for a meal? No i'll take them to the forum drinks! Hope you'll make these far flung guests welcome :)-D Edited for descriptive purposes! -

I don't agree with the point I think you're trying to make here DD. It's sad, tragic to have two in one street within a month. But such is fate. It doesn't mean Barry Road is the badlands and you'd be two pickles short of a sandwich if you honestly think it does.
-
Er guys...someone died as a result of this. Show some respect? Also worth reminding anyone new to this fantastic area that despite a some recent tragic events, Barry Road is not the centre of all evil. It's a beautiful street with a park at the end that just happens to be in London where, shock horror, stuff happens.

Great stuff Snorky! Jacki - I reckon based on what you said...try Magnolia / Green & Blue first for a quiet one, then Black Cherry then perhaps finish off in the EDT. And if I was single... I'd bash the Bishop. Quite literally.

Agreed - clearly written for him. He's naturally good enough to ad lib himself without a lame Elton John gag written by one of the producers. His appearance on the One show the other night was a prime example: On truants - "Round 'em up and make em watch an Alan Yentob documentary until they go back to school".

Interesting.....I recently received a CV from an Apprentice candidate from the last series asking me for a job. It was a good, strong CV until summer 2007 when it read " X then took 18 months off to star in the popular TV series The Apprentice when X made it to the last four". This person called me up, we spoke briefly and it would seem that after their fleeting spell in the limelight and the usual 12 months opening Business Centres in Romford / falling out of nightclubs it's back to (real) reality. With one helluva bump. And to be honest there was no way I'd realistically consider them - so career suicide too. Great TV though.

Suffice to say this is gourmet middle class friendly pizza we are talking about here! And I think that's 2-1 for my Gowlettini concept so far. Anyone else? Ice cold peroni's, fresh salads and Gowlett pizza's delivered to your door. Come on...it's a f****ing genius idea.
-
Yep far less of a loss. Question: if I bought it, fitted it out nicely, did a partnership deal with the Gowlett, called it Gowlettini, fresh rocket and tomato salads, Peroni beers, stone fired Gowlett style pizzas delivered quickly, small chilli oil for free. Sit in area....too Would you buy it?

Hisar is brilliant. It does its thing extremely well. It can't close. I'd like to know why as its packed most nights. I'm totally gutted.
