  1. Honey! Thanks Brendan. I'll try that one when I've got round to buying some yeast.
  2. Awh thanks Mr P. I like James Tanner's no-fuss dough attitude. That's tonight's tea sorted.
  3. But either too crunchy or too soggy, don't ya think? I do have a recipe from the senior Mrs D but it doesn't quite hit the spot so wanted to try another one.
  4. Does anyone have a good recipe for pizza bases (preferably not involving yeast)? But keen to have either or both.
  5. Ha ha haaaa good one Keef. Does HSL get to be Brad then?
  6. My parents started a 'cold chart' about 20 years ago to chart the origin, duration and 'depth' of the colds in our house ... It's still going strong today and could one day be a useful documentation of the times, ummmmm er, if you like that kind of thing.
  7. Good luck CWALD
  8. Cooeeeee! I'm still here but now Polly C really and finding I have less and less time to spend catching up and commenting on the news of local chums but still here and still keen.
  9. Just had Nigella's salmon, Nigella's baked squash and someone's spinach - all for ?1.85. Super subsidized staff canteen.

    Small world

My brother and his wife had a baby in 2001. At the time I was in my final year at uni in Sheffield and was living with 3 Spanish friends, two of whom were brother and sister. When my brother rang to say they were calling the baby Elias, I mentioned that the brother and sister who I lived with also had a brother (and a nephew) called Elias. Turns out, their older brother had also been to Sheffield (Erasmus) and had lived in the same halls as my brother ten years before that and they knew each other. And then, Chantoozie from this 'ere forum sang at our wedding recently. When chatting one eve in the Plough, we both mentioned Sheffield and she had also lived in the same hall, the same year as my brother. Maybe she knew Elias (I) as well ...
  11. Have a super day Mr and Mrs Keef. Pace yourself is my advice ... and try and remember it all! Bestest wishes
  12. Surely these are the same trio who are mugging school children further up LL - see North Cross road thread (sorry, don't know how to do that blue link thingy).
  13. Thanks guys. We're getting a deadlock fixed. Hindsight is great *Bob* ... thanks. redrouge: that is absolutely awful and we were lucky in comparison. Honeymoon was great - thanks chaps! >:D<
  14. The end which comes out onto Lordship Lane, past the library. Yeah, the mugging in North Cross is a horrid story and I hope the poor girl isn't too traumatised by it. I have to say, our neighbours were brilliant and sorted a lot of stuff out for us while we were away, like getting door fixed, sorting out keys, coming in and turning different lights on etc. so we do feel the community sprit is working. However, in the middle of the night, I reckon it's a different story. Still, could have been worse and I just wanted to warn others that there could be other similar incidents; check what can be seen through your own letterbox.
  15. We don't have an alarm no, what do people think about alarms? Would you get out of bed in the middle of the night if you heard one, or would you assume it had gone off by mistake and regard it as an annoyance?
  16. Came home from honeymoon to find we'd been burgled ... they 'only' got into our communal area but this was enough to steal a v expensive bike. They ripped our letterbox off and maybe squeezed a (thin) arm or some device to open the door. This was the top end of Upland Road so watch out chaps (it happened last Monday night, late we think).
  17. Mr D and I are very much enjoying the new-look Plough but every time we go there, we wait for ages to be served and there always seems to be a problem with a pump or they can't quite be sure which beer goes in which glass.
  18. Thanks Mark for a great party and lovely to see y'all again and meet others. The books were just a random selection grabbed from work as I left last night as a birthday present to the forum. Some were taken but sorry some got left behind. Can you take them to the charity shop?! Wish you hadn't mentioned the Kerry Katona (it was an eclectic mix).

Mockers! Go for it, I feel like a new person. I'm currently sinking under a pile of books so please save me a beer.
  20. Will be there but no hairy smelly love I'm afraid (stag do tomorrow)
  21. Oh Tim - how awful. Wishing you lots of luck that it'll find its way home.
  22. Ooooh I think had you turned up with a home-made quiche and your face-painting skills honed with crayons at the ready, you'd have all been very welcome. Was just about getting to know your neighbours; bit like the forum really.
  23. I'll find out Mark. I know there were a few households involved. I'll try and talk to the main organizer and report back on Friday. Reckon you could have sneaked in Pickle!
  24. There was bunting Ant! And cakes. Much like you, the last one I attended was in 1977 for a certain lady's Silver Jubilee ...
  25. Just want to tell you all about the fabulous street party we enjoyed yesterday in the top end of Upland Road. Organized by some super residents and with the support of the council, we had a great afternoon of live music, neighbourly chat, games, food and even a visit from the Mayor of Southwark! Highly recommended community event - try it in your street!
