  1. Hurrah - thanks Mark and hari
  2. I walked past it on Tuesday and it had a sign up saying it was closed for a few months for refurbishment but I read the piece about it in the Guardian and thought that it was ready. It does look so nice from the outside and hari, from what I could see when peering in, there was a bar. Discounts for EDFers would be great - we want to put it on our wedding invites. Can you work your magic Mark?
  3. Or is Tom (see above), Tom Parnell? After all, 'twas he who was quoted in the Times a while ago re ED becoming Clapham. Congrats Mark!
  4. Have any of you ever encountered 'Super Scrabble'? Just been to visit 99 year-old great aunt who is a Scrabble keeno and this was one of her birthday presents. Bigger board, double the amount of tiles and quadruple letter and word scores ... I fear there's no going back to a normal board after some of the scores we've just enjoyed.
  5. Please don't berate us for being nincompoops, but we cycled up and down Landells Road last week and couldn't see the houses in question ... where are they?!
  6. Climbs in stealthily through the window, lands on DM's trolley, plucks a book from the pile and settles down in the hammock for a good read. Feels proud of the good lady, sigh.
  7. Hope this isn't judged as off-topic but does anyone know what went on along CamberwellNew Road yesterday - at about 6pm?
  8. Agree Citizen Ed with the layout biz. Knew about the fair 'cos a family friend had a stall in the craft bit in the picture gallery - shame it was ?2.50 to get in just to even have a look. They said it had been pretty quiet.
  9. *Passes on the early-morning beer and drinks one of Keef's cream soda's instead.* *Removes boots and puts flip flops on - hurrah the sun is back.* *Whistles a happy tune while trying to unfold the deckchairs on the veranda.*
  10. Wonders who ate the ** ** from thread about 116 Lordship Lane

I want to go home My tummy is rumb(er)ling What is for supper?
  13. How about printing some of the excellent limericks on the postcards?
  14. Veggie scotch eggs too, I think
  15. You could hold the reception in that space rocket Huguenot.
  16. I'm a buffoon. On closer inspection of the bag this morning, I see the design is not of a big (acorn) tree but more an explosion of something green and leafy. It could even be a hyacinth seen up close. Either way, it's an enjoyable bag. Don't think I could roll it up and put it in a handbag; it's too sturdy for that. Incidentally, when ED reopened -a couple of years ago?! - they were giving away cool cloth bags with purchases. Still use it, maybe they would do somethiing again?
  17. Definitely no 63. Agree with Sean and Ant - 7am and a good book. HSL does it every day.
  18. The bag I bought has a big tree printed on it - it might be an acorn tree - and this website: http://www.dulwichgoinggreener.org/ It's made of hessian it seems - sorry for my apalling pre-lunch description ...I've filled my tummy now
  19. No and they're not cloth. They're made out of harder stuff, sorry I don't know what it's called - like a cross between sea grass or raffia. Nor can I remember exactly what it says but it's got a pic of a green tree and the word Dulwich is in it but not I 'heart' SE22. Must be one of the bags Monica talked about in the first post. Sorry for rubbish info, I'm too hungry to think. Anyway pop along to RW and see for yourselves.
  20. They're selling the Dulwich bags in Rouiller White for ?2.50 - nice and I'm not embarrassed by it!
  21. Alan Dale - the Sally Army recommendation is brilliant. Thank you!
  22. Kathryn - excellent idea. Have done a fair bit of research into B&Bs and hotels near ED for our wedding guests and there is very little around. Can you get yours done by the end of September?! Ha ha
  23. Hurrah!!!! Enhorabuena a los dos! A toast to the future Mr and Mrs Mockney. :)-D Only this morning I dumped loads of bridal mags in the recycling bin, I could fish them out and send them down ...
  24. There was a young man called Mark Who was addicted to quark At the Festival Fair He shaved off his hair There was a strange fella called *Bob*" Possessed of a bottomless fob With this in mind He polished his behind
  25. I know, so cringeworthy. It absolutely did not work of course, but I'm sure it gave his colleagues something to chuckle about for a while. :-$
