  1. If dogs can play billiards and poker, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to regulate their behaviour whilst out walking
  2. My experience of DMC is that, in effect, it doesn't actually exist as a surgery but rather a referral service to Peckham drop in centre. I left a short while ago as I realised that I was quite capable of referring myself to the drop in centre and didn't really require their services in this regard.
  3. That sounded like I was commenting on the amount of time it takes to be asked for 50P (cross posted) - I meant a whole year before the cinema might open.
  4. They've returned to the previous frequency after being cut. So the net gain is nought. Anyway, this was in response to the topic of the thread - weekends, when there is rarely any service at all.
  5. Blimey, that long? I guess it makes sense- lot's of work to change it into a cinema. Guess this is the kind of thing they'll be able to clarify at the 'open days'.
  6. If you want to keep a large animal in your home, maybe there could be an inspection / vetting process, leading to the granting of a licence? It would mean a significant restriction on the number of people who could keep animals, but I'm not sure that would necessarily be a bad thing. first mate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would agree with that, problem is how to do it.
  7. The trade in buying and selling live animals and who can own them should be more tightly controlled IMO.
  8. In the last 4 recorded years (between 07/08 and 11/12 ), the number of travellers getting on or off a train at East Dulwich station has increased from 1,360,087 to 2,085,892. It would be good if this exponential growth in traveller numbers could somehow be reflected in the number of trains provided.
  9. I used to be disturbed by the sound of fast cars, but I'm alright Nyyyyooooowww.....
  10. Couldn't agree more. Very exciting. VicCraven Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Let's all get behind this and make it happen. > > Vic :)
  11. I really hope you're wrong on this, but fear you may not be. NewWave Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I foresee LL and ED becoming a mix of chains and > empty shops and all the nice interesting > independents moving out to Sydenham at this rate.
  12. In the case of the toyshop, they did move out and it's still not got a permanent tenant to replace it. Surely the landlord must be considering whether they've set the rent too high? Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well if the businesses all moved to cheaper > properties, the landlord would probably be forced > to drop the rent. However, in terms of location in > Dulwich, that's a pretty hot spot.
  13. This would be a great addition to East Dulwich. Who wouldn't want a new cinema close to where they live? For once, let's keep a good news thread positive.
  14. A quick google search turned up this comment on the Camberwell Green station option and makes some interesting points (notably that it would serve twice as many destinations as LJ because of it's location on a branch of the line): http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33106 Maybe it's time to try and resurrect the campaign to reopen it?
  15. LJ is very close to both Brixton overground and tube. If it had to be a case of one or the other, IMO Southwark ought to have pushed for Camberwell Green. It's not remotely on the cards any more though. Boris is not too bothered about courting SE london votes - it's too much of a Labour stronghold - hence most of his South of the river transport plans are targeted at the 'bluer' SW postcodes. It would benefit the whole of SE to reduce congestion at Camberwell green. Even some Boris bikes would be an improvement.
  16. ... actually, I think it was opposed by Southwark Council
  17. Network Rail considered closing Loughborough Junction and replacing it with a (reopened) Station at Camberwell Green in 2007 - the platforms are still there, but little else. I think it was opposed by Lambeth Council and locals to LJ and so never happened. Here's the link (page 27): http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20documents/BusinessPlan2007/PDF/Route%202%20Brighton%20Main%20Line.pdf Personally, I was disappointed that this didn't happen - it would have made a lot of sense. 18. Very exciting. Please don't anyone start moaning about parking.
  19. If this happens, I can see lot's of Baroque painting fans milling about confused outside the Dulwich Picturehouse on Lordship Lane.
  20. Yep, Sue's right I think. Anyone got an electronic copy of the leaflet they could share?
  21. How's the training going?
  22. I believe that they got close to an agreement on reopening a few years back, but only if there was agreement to close Loughborough Junction. Personally, considering how close LJ is to Brixton tube and train station, out of the two there is a better argument for a Camberwell Green Station (although I'm not entirely sure why they couldn't keep both. Bakerloo line does already travel down as far as Burgess Park, although it's only used for turning trains I think. Sooner or later (definitely later), they will extend the Bakerloo line. The degree to which SE London's public transport provision keeps falling further and further behind the rest of the capital is a scandal. Even in terms of Cycle superhighways and Boris Bikes, we're a vacuum on the maps. 23. I really hope this comes off - would be great to have a cinema.
  24. It does seem strange how we have these huge rents being demanded at the same time that there are a number of empty properties. What happened to supply and demand?
