  1. He also bought Peckham thinking he was getting Durham. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > is that the same as the yank who was sold the > original London Bridge itself, thinking it was > Tower Bridge?
  2. I found a pair of babouche and a fake rolex on my bonnet this morning.
  3. Didn't they sell the original London Bridge station to a yank who thought he was getting St Pancras?
  4. They were using electric cattle prods to herd people in the pen this morning.
  5. Camberwell Green post office is quite otherworldly. It's how I imagine limbo to be.

  7. Must admit, I haven't been there for years. It's a shame - nice pub, but just a bit too far from the main drag.
  8. I don't get why that butchers has never invested in a shop sign. Seems like a false economy.
  9. I love the new steel cattle pen they've created for herding commuters at platform 15
  10. I'm confused. Isn't this picking up a very old thread?
  11. Train to Gatwick, then fly to Heathrow
  12. Godwin's a right fascist.
  13. To be fair, when I moved house (admittedly several years ago now) I had the same experience. Estate Agents were great. Solicitors and surveyors rubbish.
  14. It wasn't great. Took a long time to get off of the platform. Is there a published programme of works anywhere, with timescales for each platform renovation, bridge openings / closures etc.
  15. Sorry Jeremy, wasn't my intention, didn't phrase it well - it just seems sometimes, it's more about 'they've take MY space' rather than any real inconvenience (a couple of spaces along aint no biggie). I accept that if you have to park a couple of streets away it can be a pain. Personally, I never have to park more than a couple of 100 meters from my front door, but I may just be lucky.
  16. pecuniary - nice sounding word
  17. People seem a bit obsessed about parking right in front of their house. Seems to me to be primitive territorial instinct. Yes, there are a small number for who it is important due to mobility issues of one sort or other, bit for most people you may just accept a minute or twos walk to your car. Is it that big a deal?
  18. ... no really quick way though
  19. You could take east london line from Denmark Hill, changing at Clapham Junction for train to Feltham. From Feltham there is a shuttle bus to the airport.
  20. Never trust an incorporeal being when it comes to house negotiations.
