The current development work at London Bridge station will allow for more trains to run through to Charing Cross. As far as I can tell (I could be wrong on this), the exact shape of the subsequent timetable changes are yet to be decided. I am wondering therefore, whether we may have an opportunity to campaign for an extension to ED train service - through to Waterloo and Charing Cross. Does anyone know if anything is already underway in this respect? Are Southwark Council using their influence?

looking at the map that James Barber linked to (thanks James, interesting site) - It seems that the biggest problem area on Lordship Lane is the junction with Heber Road. I wonder why the proposal is to start the limit at Whateley (as DJKQ says, by that point traffic is barely moving anyway)?

It's in everyone's interests that cycling in London be encouraged. If you make people take a test, apply for a licence and pay insurance, the number of people cycling will plummet. You're likely to see an increase in cars, pollution, congestion, injuries, health problems, etc. what do you get in return? It's easier to trace the few hundred cyclists involved in collisions with pedestrians each year (not that there are that many 'hit and run' cycle accidents). Or is it that its easier to fine cyclist for jumping lights etc? I suspect that what's really behind the vitriol that some direct towards cyclists is the sense that they're 'getting away with it'. Those motorists who are the most venomous are probably the same people who (if they could) would break the rules themselves. You are latent Lycra louts!

I used to live next door to a hostel for those with addiction problems and its fair to say that whilst many of the residents were pleasant enough, it also contained a fair number of challenging / chaotic individuals. Of course there will be hostels and hostels, but it's not unreasonable to be cautious about who you'll be living next door to when buying a property.

I really don't understand the level of vitriol aimed at cyclists. There must be some psychological mechanisms worth studying here. Any Institute of Psychiatry EDsters fancy looking into the irrational level of cyclophobia out there? It can't all be down to gullible Clarksonphiles.
