  1. The real solution is to remove the illusion of 'choice' and just make children go to their nearest school.
  2. I have an 18 month old child and she is becoming very challenging, hitting and throwing tantrums when she doesn't get her own way. I am not sure how best to discourage this behaviour - she seems to understand when I speak to her, but her language is limited so it's hard to be sure what she comprehends. I was thinking of using a 'naughty step' when I believe that she is deliberately acting up, but is she too young for this?
  3. Is this the beast.... http://clouddragon.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/tribbles-cute-kitten.jpg

  5. I was having a picnic in Dulwich park today with some mums and babies and three dogs attacked our picnic and ate our food. The 'professional' dog walker who was supposedly in charge of them apologised, but did virtually nothing to stop them (except shouting, which set one of the kids off crying). After they had finally left us alone, yet another, unrealted dog came over and nicked a scotch egg. What the hell is going on? Do people not use leads anymore. Should I have my picnics in Catford in future?
  6. Please don't tell me that this will mean more speed bumps?!
  7. I was nearly run over by a lady in a merc speeding down heber road. She stopped with a screech outside the primary school and ran in. Clearly late picking up a child. Totally thoughtless. Speedbumps just seem to be considered sport for the White van drivers who sail over them at speed (perhaps they've misinterpreted the name). Unfortunately bumps seem to have replaced actual enforcement.
  8. Homeopathy is complete nonsense. If antibiotics don't work, a placebo is unlikely to do the trick in my opinion.
  9. Hello My 2nd baby is due in 6 weeks and I have been suffering from sciatica for the past 2 weeks and it is showing no signs of going. Physio has been recommended which I am obviously very keen to start asap as with no. 2 due in 6 weeks I need to make sure I am in 'peak' condition for the birth! So, if anyone can recommend a good local physiotherapist I would be very happy to hear from you. Thanks very much Vicky
  10. Saw a 2 bed flat for sale on the estate. Asking price ?190,000. This would require any purchaser to have around ?19,000 cash deposit and a ?57,000 pa salary.

  12. Pearson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You need to go to bed later. That way they won't > keep you awake ;] True... unfortunately I have a baby who wakes up at 5am. Oh for the days of going out drinking on a Saturday night!
  13. ....keeping me awake. Anyone know what they're upto?
  14. Well done James. I hope other councillors take note of your excellent example.
  15. What is going on? Seriously, does anyone have any insight into what is turning 13 year olds into savage murders? This is just inconceivable. Condolences to the family. Let's hope that the animals responsible are caught.
  16. Hello I have a 16 month old daughter, and her grandma is going to start looking after her on a Monday. Any ides about what they can get up to on a Monday? All suggestions very welcome! Thanks very much
  17. Thanks for the responses. She wasn't in our room before, just moving from her old room to a new one (with all her old stuff). We've actually (touch wood) turned a corner the last couple of nights. Had a week with very very little sleep though - We perservered and she seems to be getting used to it. I swear I am never moving her again!
  18. We have just moved my 15 month old to a new room. She has responded by refusing to sleep - crying for well over an hour after we put her down and then waking up around 2 / 3 in the morning screaming and refusing to go back to sleep. It has only been 4 nights, but I am already reaching the end of my tether. Any advice greatly appreciated. I'm considering moving her back, but at this point, I suspect it might just cause more upset.
  19. A Waitrose would be great as far as I'm concerned.
  20. Police are searching for any evidence of mythical Waitrose store.
  21. I'm with orange - Usually around 10 -11 mbs download.
  22. Travelling into central london, fair enough, it's difficult if you can't drive and public transport is down. But zone 2? Really? Most people drive, the main roads were (on the whole), fine. I understand that some people won't be able to make it in, but surely the majority should be able to.. enough to keep the organisation running (there should be contingency plans in place for some unexpected absence). It does seem that the schools shut down sooner than any other organisation. Snow in December isn't that unexpected.
  23. I don't understand what responsibility a school has for the Health and Safety of children outside of school hours (i.e. on their way to school). Surely it is the responsibility of the child's parents to ensure that they get to school safely. The shcool's responsibility is to remain open for those who can make it in and ensure that they are safe whilst under their care.
  24. I'm surprised it makes an impression on the owners - maybe it's the dogs who are being put off. Either way, I'm glad to here that it stops the poopers. I must admit, I quite like the logos - a bit Banksy-esque.
  25. I may have missed something... how do stencilled anti poo logos help?
