  1. I may have missed something... how do stencilled anti poo logos help?
  2. Trains running through south london fine, but not stopping at inner london stations because of weather conditions. Same lines, same routes, passing the same stations, just through running.. go figure.
  3. The shop haven't published people's names, addresses, or any other personal details (or have I missed something). All they have done is put up CCTV images in the window, presumably in an appeal for information. This doesn't infringe anyone's human rights. Is it being suggested that CCTV images shoudln't be used to identify suspects of crime?
  4. If you've got CCTV evidence of someone committing a crime, it's not unreasonable to use it to identify the culprit. This may mean appealing to the public in the form of posting the images. It's basically what Crimewatch has been doing for years. If the individuals had been identified and there was evidence of their involvement in a crime, presumably they would have been prosecuted.
  5. Could be a familly of rabbits?
  6. It amazes me that estate agencies bother with these huge, expensive shops in this day and age. Surely the vast majority of people search online for property (I know I did when I moved). You could pretty much operate out of an upstairs office, with much lower overheads.
  7. I always thought this kind of made sense. Those living very close, or to the west of Loughborough Junction can easilly wak to Brixton overground and underground. Those north or east of Loughborough Junction could eailly still walk to a station at Camberwell Green. A station at Camberwell Green would place a lot more people close to a rail station. 8. This bus stop is still closed and no sign of any work going on to fix it. Grrrr.
  9. This is fantastic news! Good stuff.
  10. Possibly a cheaper alternative would be to supply some secure bike parking at ELL stations. 11. ...I suppose they're on the outskirts of Camberwell. The fact remains that SE London has only 10 tube stations (or worse, 3 if you class zone 1 as 'central London). This is out of a total of around 268. No one can seriously argue that SE London is not very poorly served by the tube network. The rail network within inner SE is on the whole irregular, overcrowded and unreliable. There are one or two exceptions. The new overground / east Lodnon line trains are excellent, but atypical in terms of the general state of public transport in SE London.
  12. SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > doesn't Dulwich have 3 existing train stations? yes, dulwich does have 3 stations, but Walworth and Camberwell for example, have none. Southeast London as a whole only has 10 tube stations and 7 of which are in zone 1 (so central london really). I just think that any extension of the northern line from Kennington should come south east (to help fill a little of the gaping hole in the tube map). Also, hwile it's true that developers of Battersea may contribute ?200m to any extension, the overall cost will be somewhere in the region of ?663m, so not an insignificant bill to the tax payer. Crossrail which largely involves increasing the already exceptional tube provision in west london, is costing ?15.9 billion. Yet, always the reason why lines cannot be extended, even into inner SE London, is that it's too expensive. Pesonally, any future expansion south of the river, should involve improving infrastructure in what is clearly the most poorly served quater of London.
  13. Just been reading about plans to extend the Northern Line from Kennington to Nine Elms and Battersea!?!? Yes, the Battersea with three existing train stations and excellent existing transport links. It does seem that the public transport strategy for London is to saturate west London with as much transport as possible (crossrail anyone?), whilst doing everything possible to ensure that southeast london continues to be completely whitewashed from the transport map.
  14. Personally, I take the train to London Bridge and then the jubilee line to Bond Street. Avoid the 12 bus, it's a bendy / cattle truck - absolutely horrible.

The train often takes longer than the 12 minutes claimed. My morning train takes closer to 20. An extension of the Bakerloo line would connect directly with far more places in central London - London Bridge is fine as a starting point for your journey, but for most it's not the destination. And the frequency is a big issue - Two trains an hour post 8 O'clock. Only four trains an hour, before 8 on Saturdays. And on Sunday, two trains an hour up to 10pm, in the rare event of their running at all! This is hardly a 'turn up and go' service. The tube has it's faults, but at least when it's running properly, the service is frequent and it takes you were you want to go quickly.
  16. Medley Wrote: > Technical reasons - may be the most pressing being > not enough rich and connected people live in SE > London?! Yeah, I think this is probably closer to the truth. It amazes me that cross rail get's the go ahead, whilst SE london, which has crp transport can't even secure the much cheaper tram. Ealing really does need that forth tube station eh?
  17. As I understand it, the tube tunnel does extend for some way down the walworth road (to Burgess Park) and is used for turning the trains. If the bakerloo line was extended, even just as far as Camberwell, it would massively improve journey times in inner SE London. I've always thought it would be a good idea to extend it underground to Camberwell, where it could prehaps surface onto what is now the strange little loop line on the Thameslink network. This wouldn't effect the rest of the Thameslink services which come in from the east and use the Walworth Road stretch of line and as the loop line which turns on itself at Tooting, only really serves inner London anyway, I'm sure no one would complain at it's being replaced by a tube service. Probably lot's of good technical reasons why this isn't possible I'm sure...
  18. Pretty lame of Southwark to hold their only display at the very northern tip of the Borough. Could have held it somewhere more accessible to a greater number of residents - Burgess Park prehaps?
  19. If someone's sitting in their car dealing drugs out of their window for 3 hours, you might want to consider reporting it to the police.
  20. Anyone know why the bus stop outside East Dulwich station has been moved? There's no sign of any road works.
  21. It's ridiculous that Waitrose don't own a single store with an 'SE' postcode. What's that about? Personally I'd like to see one in ED, or somewhere nearby. Would be funny if they opened one in Peckham, just for of the indignation it would cause amongst ED residents. The original post was clearly trolling by the way. Must have touched on something though as we're still talking about it 5 pages later.
  22. James, great work on getting the baby changing sorted out. I too was amazed that it had been ommitted. Glad it's being sorted now.

  24. There is no way to be sure of anything, except of ones own subjective (filtered perception of) experience. Life is no more than this, or at least we can't be sure that it is. Therefore, if you want to find meaning in life, live by a set of personal values.
  25. Saw the yellow house yesterday. WTF?!?? Wow, I feel for their neighbours. It's such a nice road as well.
