  1. Just been there, see what you mean! its like some strange shopping-themed nightmare. In case anyone is looking for the toilet paper in DKH Sainsburys, I eventually found it in the far corner by the customer toilets. Which has a certain logic to it I suppose.
  2. Outside the church in Coplestone Road (last time I looked) Junction of Friern/Etherow Street (small painted box in the garden hedge) There's also a small one on Forest Hill Road by a front garden gate, its on the left if you're walking up the hill from FH surgery towards Honor Oak
  3. Would recommend local firm Critter Solutions, lots of other recommendations for them on this forum. Roger and Elliot are knowledgable and really nice guys.
  4. Found a statement lying in our front garden yesterday. At least it hadn't been opened...
  5. Also noticed one today on the left hand side of the road that runs along the top of the woods from Lordship Lane towards the Wood House pub.
  6. Still receiving Christmas cards - 3 today - so have left them on display (is that bad luck...?).So our friends and family do care! Plus a bank card today that was ordered weeks ago, had already cancelled it and replacement was sent direct to bank.
  7. Thank you, that's really helpful! Now you mention it I think I've done that in the past but had forgotten it was an option. So it'll be a mixture of online and local shopping for me as usual. Annie
  8. Delighted to get 2 items of post this week. However when I phoned the sender of one item in Scotland to thank her she said she had posted it a couple of months ago! A catalogue for my partner had special offer prices if he ordered by 10th November... The only 'good' thing that I can see coming out of this is no way am I risking ordering any Christmas gifts on the web this year, all my purchases will be made from our many lovely local traders.
  9. Mysteriously found in our garden on Goodrich Road near the crossroads with Landcroft Road. Large sunglasses with thick black plastic frames, 'Made in China', they must have been thrown over the wall - or dropped by a magpie...?
  10. I think that might be Chris Essex-Hill? He also helped me set up my apple computer, but years ago. Not very useful as I can't find his contact details (I'll carry on looking) but the name might ring a bell with someone?
  11. Not technically south-east London, but I've bought a few pieces (turquoise/silver pendants etc) in the past from Wilde Ones in Kings Road, Chelsea. Great shop, tho I haven't been over there for a few years.
  12. Very sad to hear this, agree with all the nice comments about Shannons and wish them well, would add always friendly and helpful service there. They will be missed. I sometimes walk to the one in Croxted Road under the railway arch, good selection of plants tho they don't have the room for many pots, sundries, compost etc
  13. Thanks, yes we tried that and when that didn't work have spent over an hour in total on the phone to Virgin who say our box looks active from their end. The last helpline person signed off with the words 'is there a neighbour or younger relative you could ask to help you', which made us feel soooo much better... and still no tv
  14. Virgin did some planned work (Goodrich Road area) on Monday and since then we can't get Virgin Media tv to work. Have phoned their helpline who tested our box remotely and said it was active, and told us to check that the tv is set to HDMI which it is but still can't get tv. Is anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions? Or could recommend a local tv engineer who could help? Thanks!
  15. Agree with Gaby about the British Heart Foundation, they will collect, and their specialist bookshops (the Streatham High Road one is great) will spot anything especially interesting, price it accordingly and/or list it on the web
  16. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > i was there yesterday, the pub is being done up, > but maybe pizza at he vineyard nearby, ant there > is a tea room Yes the Kings Arms at Shoreham is being renovated, we tried it today, sign says 'until further notice'. Looks like a pretty major job, lots of scaffolding etc. Agree its one of the best for food and friendliness, hope they return soon and not too changed.
  17. Would definitely recommend Critter Solutions, a local family company. Roger and his son Eliot are really knowledgable, and thoroughly nice guys who lighten a stressful situation. You'll find lots more recommendations for them on this forum.
  18. Where was your seed compost stored before you sowed the seeds? If compost is chilly from being kept in a shed or outdoors seeds will take longer to germinate or might even rot before they get a chance?
  19. Lynne, if you mean Aimee Blu in the salon at the rear of Maison Dog, I went to her for a cut in January and was very pleased with the result (I posted a more detailed review of my experience on here at the time).
  20. I've been wondering about these as well - on a Mac, they've been appearing for the last few days whether using Safari or Google Chrome. Currently ads for FIGS and Chelsea Peers (of course I do realise the Forum doesn't just run on fresh air)
  21. Another recommendation for Aimee. I don't enjoy going to the hairdresser, my hair is very fine - well, lets be honest, thin - but she somehow managed to make it look better than any hairdresser has managed before, just with a cut. The room behind Maison Dog felt safe (no passers-by seeing you through a shop window!) and she had ideas about what I might do with the colour at a later date, without being pushy. Thanks, Aimee!
  22. Change of mind, it was getting sort of depressing still having them up. Lots missing still, and we'll of course put any more that arrive on display for a while, as kidkruger says its only fair to the senders - and they can swell the number of birthday cards later this month (if I get any :) )
  23. They sell cds in the Mind shop on Goose Green roundabout, and also in Oxfam (the general one not Oxfam books) in Herne Hill, so they would prob accept them in those shops. Were you turned away in St Christophers? Last time I asked them where the music was they said they didn't sell vinyl and cds any more, I wonder why?
  24. We received quite a few yesterday and added them to our 'display'. People have taken the time to choose and send them and written newsy messages inside, seems a shame just to leave them in a pile/drawer/bin. Took all other decorations down yesterday so hope that covers the 'bad luck' thing...
  25. Who did you go to for your haircut in the end bleumarine? (I have a similar problem). Thanks, Annie
