  1. Oh my goodness, that is terrible! Such a hard lesson for such a young child. You are her mummy and want to protect her. For me, there is absolutely no way you should just accept it. Personally, whenever possible, I would approach the parent/carer of the child straight away and mention what has happened so that the other child continues to learn not to do it. Getting away with it doesn't help the child to learn (in my humble opinion). It is also in the way you approach the adult - no guns blazing type of thing lol....just acknowledge that you understand they are only children but it has to be mentioned. No help at all I'm sure but my heart went out to you when reading your post as my six year old son was very similar to your daughter and because of their lovely, gentle natures, it makes you want to protect them a zillion times more. Don't stop going to your local park. Though it's a harsh lesson, your daughter will soon learn that not all children are as gentle as she is. It won't change her, just look at it like an education in life. My son is still gentle very gentle, loves babies and toddlers (like his mummy), treats his younger sister like a Princess (though the feeling isn't mutual) but knows that all children are not like him. Big hugs. Kim x
  2. Morning all. I do apologise for those of you who showed up at All Fired Up cafe this morning to find there was no music session. I also arrived at the cafe early to set up only to find tables and ceramics laid out in the back area. I understood from the Manager, Vicky, that they had a recent delivery and so space was very limited, hence no class this morning. Vicky kindly mentioned she would take names and numbers of all who turned up so that we can contact you in the future should anything arise. Once again, I do apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you all again at 10am next week. Best wishes, Kim 0790 361 8432
  3. Hi everyone I am running several baby massage programmes for NCT groups in ED. One programme has unexpectedly become available on the following dates: Tuesday 15 March (either 10am or 12pm) Tuesday 22 March (either 10am or 12pm) Tuesday 29 March (either 10am or 12pm) Tuesday 5 April (either 10am or 12pm) The mums either take it in turns to host a session at their home or one mum hosts the whole four week session at her home. Each session runs for no more than 60 mintes to make it a comfortable experience for both mother and baby. What to expect: You will learn the art of massaging your baby, the wonderful benefits involved and, of course, take this life long experience away with you! Baby massage is a wonderful way to communicate and find that special moment between you and your baby. Research shows that baby massage can help improve blood circulation for babies and relieve stress for parents! Baby massage can also help relieve the discomfort of gas, constipation and colic and, as well as aiding digestion and not forgetting to mention, promotes better sleep! These are just a few examples of why baby massage should be an activity that is incorporated into your daily routine to give you and your baby that special 'moment' that you might otherwise miss out on due to busy life-style. Included in this programme, all participants receive a 50ml bottle of pure vegetable oil, class handouts explaining all the relevant strokes as well as other useful information and a certificate on completion of the course. Fees: Two participants - ?160.00 Three participants - ?200.00 Four to eight participants - ?260.00 By the end of the programme, you will be able to massage your baby confidently, have found a way to incorporate massage into your baby's daily routine and, of course, help your baby relieve discomfort in the most natural, nurturing way possible. This is also a wonderful oppotunity to show what you have learned to your partner so that they may take over and have their own bonding session with your baby and perhaps give you a much needed break! If you would like further information, please contact me on: 0790 361 8432 or [email protected] Many thanks Kim Certified Infant Massage Instructor
  4. LOL no, not at all, though I'm sure it would give me plenty of inspiration for future activities!!!
  5. Aww, thanks for the love!!! I'm in the process of sourcing a larger venue so I can incorporate more movement into my class structure - will keep you informed and truly hope you will all continue to come along. Kim xx
  6. I got it done there this morning, brilliant, thank you!
  7. Hi Fuschia Have you been to these churches and would you recommend them personally? I dont want to go round to random churches, prefer recommendation or better still, someone who would be happy to greet us at one :)) Thanks Kim
  8. Hi - can anyone recommend a place in ED or surrounding areas where I can get a child's passport photo done? If all else fails, I'll pop into a booth and plump up with cushions but is there an equivalent Snappy Snaps or someone who would happily take them? Many thanks Kim
  9. Does anyone know any child friendly churches in the area with a nice Sunday school attached? Church of England or Baptist would be fine. My children are asking lots of questions and are keen to attend. Many thanks in advance. Kim
  10. I'm planning ahead!!! Any fun workshops going on w/c 21 Feb? Things like cookery, sports, dance, that type of thing? My children are 6 years and 4 years. Thanks Kim
  11. Hello @new mother I run a baby and toddler session (under 4s) on a Monday morning at 10am to 10.45am. I also run a baby only session (3 months to 12 months/walker) on a Thursday morning at 10am to 10.45am. Both of the above sessions also have a play and stay session after the class which finishes at 11.30am. Hope this helps. Kim
  12. Tippee Toes do a baby music class on a Thursday at 10am (45 minutes) with a stay and play session. At 3 months, your baby can be stimulated through music, singing and percussion instruments. We use lots of colourful props to keep their attention. The venue is: All Fired Up Ceramics Cafe, 34 East Dulwich Road. It is a drop in class so no need to pre-book - ?3.00 per session. Thanks Kim 0790 361 8432 www.tippeetoes.co.uk
  13. Thanks for the replies. I did think 2pm was too early but I'll ask at Monday session also.
  14. Hi everyone Your opinions would be very helpful. I have had a lot of requests from parents who attend Tippee Toes on a Monday morning to run an additional class. I currently only run one baby and toddler session on a Monday morning and this class is very busy. My only other available slot is 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Like the Monday morning session, once the 45 minute music session is finished, there will be a stay and play session with toys and you can stay any time up until 3.30pm. Whether you come along to the class or not, in your opinion, is this a good or bad time for your little one? I am thinking that 2pm coincides with a lot of nap times so not sure it would work but not all children are the same! I will put this question to my Monday morning class but a wider opinion would be great. Many thanks Kim
  15. Hi Adelle You could hire soft play to your chosen venue - this is very popular for babies and toddlers. If you want to see the range of equipment, please visit: www.tippeetoes.co.uk Interestingly, the equipment is hugely popular for 1st birthdays. Best wishes Kim
  16. Young children learn through play so it's 'fun' teaching :)
  17. Interesting perspective p1f0s - a few of my friends share your views about social skills at a state school. This comment really does make me laugh as private schools are not only full of academics and discipline - the children have wonderful social skills and fun, there are a great mixture of races, it's very family orientated with lots of parents getting involved in the running of the school and of course, they do receive a wonderful education with lots of one-on-one assistance and support. The decision to send my child there was because his speech was delayed and I didn't want him to get overlooked in our local school, he needed a lot of support which he got at Oakfield and still does. However, my friend's child is thriving at their local state school - I would never knock it and, if I were to be in a position where I couldn't afford to send my kids private, I would happily send them to our local school. I consider myself lucky to have the option. Oh, and my children have impeccable manners but this is due to how we raise them! Just like our next door neighbours who go to the local state school - very well mannered young children :D Our nativity play does not have such a title as "oi, get off my tinsel" but it did make me laugh because why not! It's a play and something fun!
  18. Thank you for for your reply Belle. Yes, I had similar thoughts that if it was that much of a concern, the Consultant should have pointed it out to us. We have always tried to keep his ears dry ever since he had his op - we have not always succeeded but obviously it made no difference to the grommets. Interesting perspective, that you were told not to worry about getting it wet - I was told the exact opposite. I appreciate your opinion - I think I will relax with this one now, perhaps keep him with ear plugs for swimming (as he's quite used to it now) but keep his ears uncovered for hair washing/showers.
  19. My son had grommets fitted a few years ago (he is now six). Today he had a hearing test and we are delighted that his hearing is now 'normal' in both ears. However, there is still a grommet in the right ear but the left grommet is on its way out but still there. In my haste to rush out and tell hubby the good news, I failed to ask the Consultant whether it was still necessary for my son to wear ear plugs when swimming, having a shower etc. What do you think? Do you think I should still continue to cover his ears even though his hearing is now normal? Would it be detrimental if the water flushed these out or should they be left to drop out naturally by themselves? Your opinions greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Kim
  20. My music class was packed out this morning, was lovely to see so many parents make the effort to come along in this awful weather. Most of them did comment that they had to get out of the house, at whatever cost!!!!!! I agree with soft play, one o'clock clubs and music groups - give your week some variety and don't let this awful weather beat you! Good luck! Kim

  22. You can massage your baby from birth. Research shows that babies and parents benefit from the closeness of massaging as early as possible. With saying that, it's never too late either! I am qualified with the International Association of Infant Massage - we encourage massage and nurturing touch as early on as possible. Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me for any further information, I may not see the messages on the board. Kim
  23. Hi everyone My November course is fully booked. I am now taking bookings for December 2010. Classes will be held on a Tuesday or Friday morning. However, the venue is only available from 10.45am to 11.45am - is this generally a bad time for babies having their mid morning naps? I guess I need to go with the majority in order to find out whether the timings will work. In the meantime, please see details below: Tippee Toes Baby massage programme WHEN: Four week infant massage programme held on: Tuesday or Friday mornings at 10.45am to 11.45am DATES: DECEMBER 2010 LOCATION: PUSH Studios, Blackwater Street (off Lordship Lane) SE22 FEE: ?55.00 for full programme.
