  1. @ DJKQ: could they stretch the anti social limb to include acts not connected to flats or estates or building? I imagine there has to be a nexus between the anti social behaviour and the tenancy agreement. Overall, I think its just a silly idea. Great for the headlines, and great for the chattering classes. Remember the Dangerous Dogs Act? It got to the point they couldn't tell what dogs the Act applied to any more.
  2. Why should we follow the law when you can bring in special rules to deal with the dispossessed? I fear this article will be accused of moral relativism, I mean, the bank bail out has no relevance to this looting, or is there some strange connection that I am not seeing? Pitchforks and stockades, blistering barnacles....
  3. I have some pitchforks if anyone is interested.
  4. Do numb nuts, nut-job right wing trolls belong to a union? Do they meet off line? How big is their particular rock?
  5. Heard something is happening towards Herne Hill. Don't know for a fact though.
  6. oh we didn't have a pot to piss in when i were a lad so we just did it wherever we liked!
  7. On the one hand, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, on the other, the police must exercise reasonable care and skill in discharging their duties and ensure that proportionate force is used according to the degree of risk a situation presents. The difficulty with proactive policing such as in the recent shooting incident is one gets the impression that the police do not strike the correct balance. It's a difficult job but if you cannot do it, you should not be out on the streets wielding violence on behalf of the realm. Not a single serving officer has been convicted of an offence related to a death in custody or death whilst under the supervision of the police. This leads to understandable concerns about our system of accountability in this country. Authoritarian reactionaries don't appreciate nuances, the world is Manichean divide to them.
  8. The is an inverse relationship between complexity and knee jerk reactions, the more complex is a hot button topic the more simplified is the public solution. riot + looting = violence >greater violence = solution. criminals break the law therefore more, violence, more prisons, more cops, tougher sanctions = less criminals!
  9. Thanks Loz.. stand corrected. You aren't a banker are you or do you just feel like you have to defend them on a public forum. My point is about reacting to current events so feel free to comment about that, if you have something to say about it. And, I was only responding to someone else on here who was making glib comments about the basle 3 and capital adequacy requirements and whether that is connected to the looting on our streets, which is being done by mindless, automatons, who's only interest is in the creation of disorder and the acquisition of consumer goods.

WELL bankers take their money out of a country or downgrade the USA's credit rating and the yoof, what have they got? How do they show their anger? And don't tell me about the vote,as Ill point to Florida or this Con-Dem coalition govt. Obama is speaking and pouring calm on troubled waters, as much as I love his oratory he'not talking about the anger out there.
  11. I need to get some goat head for a soup!
  12. Capital adequacy is a weak measure compared with control of bonuses, every street urchin knows that so they wouldn't wear such a T shirt!
  13. Well aware of the IPCC, are you aware of the tussle that goes on between them and the police about gathering evidence? You need to read some more about operational control of a scene/ crime scene.
  14. These investigators are humans, no? Or is it some sort of independent oracle we consult in times of unrest. interesting how the CCTV evidence is often the first to be taken by the police. I guess they hand it over when they have viewed it. One assumes the investigators will have the full information, nevertheless. They are not dependent on the police to collect evidence in situations like a shooting.

  16. @ Jeremy, you talking to me? I drive a taxi :-) Besides, you have your facts wrong. Go up thread and all will be clarified.
  17. Err metaphor for curiosity about the world around us. But touch?.... I geddit...
  18. We may all be sitting in arm chairs, but some of us are looking at the stars.
  19. I am all for an investigation but not for the misinformation often used to manage the news by the police as it allows ill informed arm chair theorist to spout abject nonsense in the name of law and "order". Deliberate emphasis on order there as the law requires that everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and the problem with proactive policing is it denies criminals their day in court. No wait, am missing something?
  20. I was waiting for this topic on LBC this morning. Please feel free not to discuss it. Seriously, don't.
