Gibraltar sounds good. Should be entertaining.
  2. http://maps.nls.uk/view/103313165 Try this not a photo but a very clear map showing the property. You'll need to zoom in.
  3. I might be wrong but I thought I saw some (french) oysters in Moxons the other day at ?2.50 each or ?30 a dozen

  5. We're 28-1 looking at Oddschecker, to win the Trophy
  6. Saw the actor Paul Brooke in Sainsbury's on Monday
  7. I think that there's absolutely no chance of us leaving as the vote doesn't stack up. Virtually the whole of Scotland, Wales and Cornwall will be voting to stay as will most of London and probably a great deal of England will vote to stay in as well. But, don't take my word for it have a look at what the bookies say, the odds are 4/9 to stay and 2/1 to leave. Good idea for an independent ED, I'd vote for that.
  8. Ah, gone are the days of drinking a six pack on the bus on the way to a gig somewhere in N London. Most people are responsible eating on the bus but I remember on the 176 a lady eating a large amount of fruit and dropping the skin and pips (and anything else she didn't want) on the floor below her for some other poor so & so to clear up. Where do we draw the line? Like booze it's probably easier to ban any eating on the bus. After all a bus is not a cafe or pub. As for the breastfeeding, what on earth is the matter with you? Surely we have moved on? If you want a return to some prudish semi Victorian imagined Utopia, move to the USA and vote Trump.
  9. My choice would be brasserie Zedel right by Piccadilly Circus and much more reasonable than the Delaunay or Wolsley of which group it is a part.
  10. I think the Dulwich Society has been pressing them to put in lifts, maybe this is the start?
  11. Agents will now have to apply for consent from Wandsworth Council in London to display boards in the town centres of Putney, Balham and Clapham Junction, as well as parts of Lavender Hill. Any agency which erects boards without express consent from the council will be guilty of an offence under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and will be liable for a fine of up to ?2,500 and up to ?250 per day should the offence continue after a first conviction. Wandsworth Council was awarded the powers to ban boards which are displayed without consent after putting in a request to the secretary of state.

  13. Talking of Peckham Hill Street one of my earliest memories is the canal there and going over the bridge, which is still there, and seeing timber being off loaded to the timber yard that was in Colgrove Road. The timber yard was there for years after the canal but it's been redeveloped for housing now.

That can't be right Mr Fox. I am suggesting a way to alleviate aircraft noise over East Dulwich and London. Clearly the airports we currently have are insufficient for demand and in order to remedy this they?ve come up with the brilliant idea of extending either, and possibly both I think , airports. This will only make noise more of a problem in London. So, despite my lust for travel, I think I have every right to complain.

All the more reason to redevelop it for housing. Both Gatwick and Heathrow (in particular) have very good transport links. And think of the noise improvement over London itself. We get a plane going over our house in East Dulwich low just before six EVERY BLOODY MORNING!!Don't know which airport it's going into but it would be lovely to lose it. Even at a cost of billions!
  17. Can you tell me when you play Altonaer 1893 in Hamburg? Is there a fixture this season for instance?
  18. Oysters are delicious, I first ate one, very reluctantly, in France in the early 1980's and have been a fan of them ever since. The only reason they are expensive is because of demand. In France they remain a staple of the working class and very cheap. Particularly outside of Paris. They are also relatively cheap in most of the rest of Europe and seen as more of a working/middle class food than anything particularly snobby. I also like Caviar but I only buy a small jar at Christmas every year to treat myself. I'm not trying to be posh I just love it. Anyway the guy in the Village will, I hope, be successful with oysters. So if you've never tried one because you don't like the thought of it be brave, you're in for a real treat especially with a nice glass of dry white to wash it down with.

  20. The worry is that they'll take over the asylum.
  21. I remember Tony well, a regular in the Castle when I used to work there almost 40 years ago. I'm sure he worked in the Tax office which was above the old Iceland in LL? Can't remember who his drinking pal was though. Thanks Louisa I hadn't thought of him for years. I shall lift a glass to him later.
  22. The Ivy House always looks very children friendly
