  1. Sure is, they steam their hotdogs with the utmost care.
  2. Yes Mlteenie, travelling by public transport can seriously damage your health. Imagine attempting all of that ^^^^^ in a wheelchair or with a buggy and child.
  3. *grabs some popcorn and settles down to watch the fireworks*
  4. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you're going to need to save twice as much as you think you do. Currently one of our pounds (or quids)is going to cost you just over two dollars. Couch surfing is a refined art, or so I hear, never having surfed nor had my sofa comandeered. First you find yourself a friendly looking pub, then you select a friendly looking group (no shortage of those in ED!) to regale with humourous tales of your homeland, college days etc. It is important at this stage to ensure you have sufficient funds to stand your own rounds, thus coming across as a throughly decent sort. Then just as you are leaving the pub at closing time, someone will ask that all important question "so where are you staying mate?" - that's when you hit them with it! Guaranteed to get at least two offers of a couch!
  5. There you go Asset, Jah has kindly volunteered to provide the food, well maybe some of it. I'm sure his nuts are of generous proportions, but maybe we should lay on some nibbles on the side?
  6. I live near that end of Lordship Lane and heard the accident from my house. We saw the air ambulance coming down to land, but fortunately it wasn't needed. Apparently the guy collided with a tree and has seriously injured his leg, but is otherwise fine. Haven't been out to it myself, so only have this information second-hand, but it doesn't seem as if anyone else was hurt. Was going to post it just after it happened, but thought it best not to so as not to cause worry or stress to anyone whose loved one rides a motorbike and had yet to return home.
  7. Most of my ill this season has been self-inflicted! Now that does sound like fun!! Well, the actual inflicting bit!
  8. Maximay, I'm so very sorry for your loss and quite understand how bewildered, angry and frustrated you must feel at the shattering of your family and the continuing threat to it. Like Keef I doubt whether this man would actually be stupid enough to do anything, but realise that in itself is little comfort. I too have posted but a few times myself, and as yet have never met with any hostility. Yes, some people seem to get very excited over the strangest things, but as a rule I find the forum very informative and at times quite hilarious! I don't 'know' anyone here, well I probably chat with a few of you at the school gates or see you about, I may even have sat on the 176 whist you were chucking up, but I couldn't actually put a face to any of the names, with the exception of Chav, but then that was easy because she has a picture on her website. Have now realised that our children go to the same school and I have often seen her riding her bike down with the dog, haven't really talked to her save on the couple of occasions that my son has asked to stroke the dog. From what I've read on here she seems an honest woman, if maybe a little too open at times (squirts!) but that's just my opinion, (the sharing, not the honesty!). I commend Chav for taking her life and turning it around and for her quite obvious passion and dedication for bringing about changes for the good of the community. If we're all totally honest there is bound to be something in our past or even current life that we would rather wasn't out there for all to see, so let him who is without sin and all that jazz.
  9. Goodness, so Lemsip Max cures colds as well as ensuring the taker passes their driving test. Remarkable stuff! We've been playing pass the cold in my house for weeks now, it's on it's second round at the moment.
  10. OMG! I'm shocked to the core, to the core I tell you!
  11. Guess that means you get the job Asset! Could you manage a hog roast in the garden? I quite fancy that.
  12. Badgers Bakery does sell good bread, but their cakes are atrocious.
  13. odd and odder still - just came home to eight overdue packages, one of which was sent out on October 30th. Some cages have been rattled me thinks.

  15. Yes, the guys at Silvester Road are great, really cheerful and polite. Now I don't work for the Royal Mail, nor have any connection with them, and believe me I am just as peeved as the rest of you regarding post arriving weeks after it was posted and 'ghost' parcel delveries, but quite what they are supposed to do to clear the backlog with the resources available to them, I'm not quite sure. Lets face it, if they employed armies of casuals we'd be no better off. Maybe if they had sent a letter instead of a card advising that they were having trouble managing all the deliveries due to the strike backlog and explaining that it would be really helpful if you could collect your parcel from the sorting office in this instance as a temporary measure? Of course they would have to accept that some people are unable to collect from Silvester Road for a number of reasons, including the fact that as the sender paid the postage due in order to have the Royal Mail deliver the item, it would be reasonable to presume that they would do so. Can you imagine what Christmas is going to be like if they don't sort this out now!
