I have the VAX steam mop. Really handy, easy to use, lightweight. It is not quite like the adverts, (which depict a brilliant shine as you use it) but it cleans easily, and far better than my mopping! You can also wash in the machine the bits that attach at the bottom. I am not sure I could return to a normal mop / bucket and all that wringing out of dirty water,

I have two inflatable rings for swimming. One yellow and one barbie ring! (Which is a nice tight fitting ring for a smaller child) If anyone wants for their child for swimming, let me know Free to anyone who can collect.

You could do mini hotdogs with those vegetarian sausages. I have done this before and on the whole were eaten by all. (Squirt of ketchup and mostly eaten). But they are mostly only sold by the bigger supermarkets, (bitter lesson learned as I raced around trying to find some the day before a party!)

Wavelengths in Deptford is good for a splash around as a lot of the pool is shallow and good for smaller children. There's a small elephant slide as well, as well as been very warm in the pool and swimming area in general.

Try Lou at captured on rye, he has a candyfloss machine. He made some for my daughters birthday party. They were delicious!

Fuschia, I hope you are feeling better. I broke a bone in my wrist this summer and was prescribed cocodamol, which I see you are on. You probably know this already, but I had forgotten the horrendous side effect of cocodamol being constipation! If you are taking them remember this so you can eat some prunes, dried fruit etc. Heres to a good recovery ....

Hi Hayesgrover My daughter is at a state school so I cant help you with private schools, although I think most would agree that the schools you have listed all sound good! The Independent Schools book (and I think their is a website, you can have an online subscription) will give you further details of the schools and a write up which might make selection a bit easier.

Library? You could phone but they used to have these facilities,or perhaps phone snappy snaps! they might do that.

My daughter went to a climbing party at Jags when she was 6. I remember having to sign a consent form.

Scout hall on bellenden road about ?25 an hour. Has a small kitchen as well, tables and chairs, toilets etc.

Jags do a climbing wall party. Crystal palace does trampolining.

If you do not already have a scooter then that would be my first recommendation, or bike. Cas art do lovely sets of felt tip pens etc if your daughter likes to draw and make things. At this age my diaghter loved those play doh sets (where you push out various things, e.g. Ice creams etc) If you look around for dolls houses you can find cheaper ones (I got ours of some website and it came with all the furniture etc) Play kitchen always popular Miss kitty stuff was very popular at this age Dress up clothes, this has been a constant source of fun for my daughter and friends. We have a huge basket filled with dress up clothes (mostly second hand, but all loved and played with) even now they squeeze into things that are too small! New books

You could try the dry cleaners next to dish and spoon, or also the dry cleaners (jb impress) where the shops are near good green playground. I have had alterantions etc done on clothes at both.

Also Lou has a candy floss machine. He came and made zillions of candy floss at my daughters birthday party. Definitely a hit with all!

Have a look at the pool in Deptford (Wave lengths) they may have some sessions on today? Or peckham?

I know this is slightly off the point, but i loved this recent photo of Jamie lee Curtis and what she says about growing older (I realise the distinction within the debates of wanting to look fresher, and the points she is making about age,) but thought this might be a good place to add this ....

I can second the spa in bethnal green (basic, cheap, a nice room with reclining chairs where you can chat ) and you can book treatments (I have only had good ones). Then you are a walk away from shore ditch / Horton for a fabulous lunch . If you do wan treatments book in advance as they get booked up. You can usually pay for a 2 hour slot (excluding treatment time) to be in the spa.

What about somewhere like forge wood (just near tonbridge wells). Although it is camping there is a place where you can buy breakfast and a place where you can buy dinner. They also offer childrens activities which you can book them on to give yourself a bit of a break. (Art tent etc)

I am not sure about a swing, but I do remember when my daughter had this that putting her in the sling (baby Bjorne) she was upright almost and walking her helped. Good luck, I do also remember how tiring it was!

I can second kuki (bellenden road). As pickle says you will need to phone to get an appointment ..... But they are reasonable and good.
