  1. Kidskriger will check and get back to you. I agree with you on the sheer wastage of water feeling criminal, and despite calls we cannot seem to get anyone interested to come and sort it out ASAP. Twfsoll I know it is really odd, after two phone calls to Thames water, they have said that they will come out on Monday .... Which is about 48 hours of water running. I would have thought that a broken pipe would have allowed them access onto an open lot! Mustard, thanks for suggestion I have sent renato a PM (although she might well be away over this period) I have also sent southwark an email and will keep on pestering anyone that I can!
  2. We have noticed that the empty lot on 85 Stuart Rd (nunhead) has a broken pipe (?) and water is gushing out. We phoned Thames Water to report it but they said they csnnot get onto the land as it would be trespassing. I have emailed Southwark to report it, and tried to phone a number that may or not be the contractors number for the land. Does anyone know who I could call and who would be responsible for this. it is a terrible waste of water and I am unsure of who to try and contact next to sort this out? Any ideas or contact numbers appreciated.
  3. Reg I would be interested! I will message you me email and you can come and have a look at the wall I have in mind!
  4. I have wall space but it's on a wall on my house! Happy to "donate" the space! I wonder if the council could help you identify spaces? There's lots of "wall space" around deptford (creek road, where all the artists rent space ) near the Laban dance building. I have the book you mention and have really enjoyed reading it. Good luck with your project.
  5. If not, there is someone collecting toys for an orphanage in Africa .... Can't link but they have posted in this section.
  6. Monkey we have also started on the morpurgo Xmas stories, I especially loved the one about the boy and the goose! Another one beckons tonight!
  7. Thanks for recommendations, much appreciated. will look at Rocca, belair and Nunhead. Guess it might also depend on availability!
  8. I cannot remember the cost, but we had Tricky Toby at my daughters 4th birthday party, and she still speaks about him! He easily entertained 20 children for two hours. See his website below .... http://www.trickytoby.co.uk/
  9. As it seems we will be based in London for Christmas, just us, I thought it might be a good idea to book somewhere to eat Christmas lunch - as we do a big meal (Danish style) on Christmas eve. Has anyone got any recommendations of where they might have gone - anywhere in the East Dulwich area .... would like to stay local .... Would like something fairly relaxed and family friendly. (It is Christmas after all!)
  10. we also love How the Grinch stole Christmas The Tomten by Astrid Lindgren - not exactly Christmas, but lovely and wintery http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomten-Astrid-Lindgren/dp/0863151531/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416831527&sr=1-1&keywords=the+tomten I have bought the Michael Morpurgo for this year http://www.amazon.co.uk/Michael-Morpurgo-Christmas-Stories/dp/1405268956/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416831603&sr=1-1&keywords=michael+morpurgo+christmas+stories Not read yet, but looking forward to it and another favourite is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Story-Brian-Wildsmith/dp/0192727303/ref=sr_1_51?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416831713&sr=1-51&keywords=christmas+stories which is a lovely parallel story about the donkey in the story of Christmas .
  11. This is an interesting one. We have an open plot next to our house, and we had the owner/builder burning fires constantly! (Instead of getting the rubbish taken away he decided it would be a better option to have someone on the plot with a constant open fire!) We asked him to stop he didn't. We asked Southwark to come out as didn't think it was legal, we had smoke and ash covering our backyard. Nothing really happened. I will try and find a link to the thread we started on this, but after getting a wood burner in our house, and following all the regulations for what we could have, what we could burn etc, it felt a little bit odd that someone could have a billowing fire on constantly. Southwark told me I could report it to the Fire Brigade, but I told them I did not want to waste their time/resources unless there was a problem. But to answer your question I would complain and ask if they could stop!

  14. I use Amazon for my godchild who lives in Geneva How about something Peckham / or london related. My god-daughter had loved london type t shirts or bedding. Lou does some lovely peckham branded t shirts.
  15. 16. Searchdog thank you for that, I have not wanted to come back to this thread to comment, as I didn't want to enter into a debate on such a tragic post, it felt the wrong space to "argue" a point. However, both your information, and that from the Salavation Army that someone else posted is really useful. I will remember what you have written.
  17. My daughter has been to a few parties after school, not all parents can make it, and usually birthday parent and a few others walked all the kids back to the house. I think if children are happy to go without their parents this would work out fine.
  18. Scout hall on bellenden rd. I have the contact details somewhere if you need.
  19. Have you seen the VTech kidizoom cameras, they are around ?25, quite sturdy, takes digital pictures, has a few games on it as well, quite basic but good for travelling! Not brilliant quality but good enough for this age range. You can also add frames to pictures. My daughter has one, got when she was 4-5 and used it a lot. You can also take videos on it as well. If you google on amazon you will see them.
  20. I wonder if you could perhaps edit your title, so that if any family members or friends of the man who has died, perhaps don't have to read about it on here.
  21. Bawdy nan you are right, only 6 tickets left for Christmas Eve at greenwich, and unfortunately not seated together, so will try cat ford! Thanks for the tip nanny-Sally
  22. Thanks for all the recommendations. Much appreciated.
  23. I would like to book some tickets for panto on Christmas Eve. I know there is jack and the beanstalk at greenwich theatre but was wondering if there were any other local productions? Does anyone have advice or theatres that they go to and recommend?
  24. Could you see if you can contact Dulwich Festival, organisers perhaps, to ask them.
  25. I have the VAX steam mop. Really handy, easy to use, lightweight. It is not quite like the adverts, (which depict a brilliant shine as you use it) but it cleans easily, and far better than my mopping! You can also wash in the machine the bits that attach at the bottom. I am not sure I could return to a normal mop / bucket and all that wringing out of dirty water,
