Words that have become fashionable for no apparent reason.

I bridle at middle management "target driven" speak. ( though thankfully I don't have to work within earshot that often, which is a joy ) I've tried to analyse why. Is it just the very people saying it or, Is it the terminology employed. I conclude that it's a combination of both, the "ying & the yang" ( see how easy it is ) Anyway I was on the lovely L.O.E.L train last night & we stopped at Canada Water; dangerously near to Canary Warf. I witnessed the following phone call. "Hi Dave, yeah" "Just want to touch base" "I've a window in my diary" "Just wanna knock an idea about" "Like outta the box, blue sky" "Click me in on that" "Gotta go" In my mind I punched his BlackBerry down past his teeth, BUT breathe I thought. "In with anger out with love" * must dash now as I'm having a deep tissue massage * " Have a nice day " NETTE(6):)) -

Huh & Haaaaaa... >A blackberry makes you look like you > actually do some work" Well depends who you're trying to impress/deceive as your thumbs go at lighting speed .... *clik clik....clikity clik* "I'm a workin' down here boss" Reminds me of that scene from Cool Hand Luke where Paul Newman escapes after tying a thread to a bush "I'ma workin' down here boss" If ever a device transmits weird kind of neurosis via its operator, it's a BlackBerry. The Android sounds good, indeed it does My geeky computer tech cousin has one BUT the i-phone still makes you feel slightly geeky, when really you're a screen prodding bozo. A Blackberry just makes you look like the c.nut you really are. Nette

Should ED make a stand and boycott News Corporations NOTW
Annette Curtain replied to georgegarrett's topic in The Lounge
Any publication that has PETER ANDRE snivelling in it deserves a boycott. * goes back to reading "The National Enquirer" * "Oooo look, Whitney's teeth have fallen out again " Nette(tu) -

Really Frankito-poos Oh but the snake provokes much fascination in the philosophical world. http://pervegalit.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/snake-eats-itself.jpg From death, it is from the fear of death that all cognition of the All begins. Philosophy has the audacity to cast off the fear of the earthly, to remove from death its poisonous sting, from Hades his pestilential breath. * scratches head * .....and that aside, the snake eating its self is pretty cool. I mean, how do you eat your own teeth ? ( answers on a postcard please ) Nette:)

Oh lordy lorks..... David Haye is asking for a re-match against Klitchko. Quoted from the Bbc website: Haye is only interested in meeting a Klitschko before his planned retirement in October and, with the brothers refusing to fight each other, the Englishman is their only obvious opponent. Please spare me the excitement. Nette(td)

He'll slide into obscurity now. Really, who'd want to see a film starring "the heavy weight who broke his toe" that is DH. I mean bless him for his valiant efforts and all that BUT in movies after failing to do what he set out to do. As for the goatee/tache combo. Get rid of ASAP it looks rank & while your at it crop off the barnet too. Nette:-S

Just what Borough market needs I think. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4b/PepperswithscovilleCentralMarketHoustonTX.JPG/800px-PepperswithscovilleCentralMarketHoustonTX.JPG A heads paradise. I can't imagine where our food would be with out the chillie. Though It's not prevalent in some cultures like Greece or Germany. I've also been using a Mae Lay chillie which is red, dried and about finger length. They don't give much heat but they do add a smell & flavour which I like , the best way I can describe is the smell of "pipe tobacco" in a pouch. Slightly fruity and dense. They are cheap ( ?1.59p ) for a big bag at the Chinese shop on Camberwell green, I use about 3-4 in a curry along with 2 or 3 other chillie types. ( I'm fixating now on a veggie curry ) Lovely. The Portuguese introduced chillies to Goa when it was a colony. The "indian" dish Vindaloo is a bastardisation of vin (wine) and alho (garlic). Birds eye chillies are from Africa & the Portuguse colonised a number of countries there. So, not such a great leap to see them taking the piri-piri (birds eye chillies) with them to Goa. Nette
