My daughter starts at the Hamlet in September (3S) and I have foolishly mislaid the information with the link and password for the online uniform sales which was given to us at the new parents' induction. Hi just to clarify this would be in a voluntary capacity - i.e. work experience would be unpaid. Although she would eventually like to work in psychiatry or surgery she is realistic in that any work experience would be in this setting rather than in this field - i.e. that she would be answering phones, filing etc. If anyone has any suggestions do please PM me. Hi my daughter is currently sitting GCSEs and will be 16 in July. She is studying locally and already has two GCSEs at A* (ICT and Maths Statistics) and is taking a further 9 GCSEs. She hopes to study Medicine. She is highly trustworthy and hardworking (and is a volunteer Police Cadet). She hasn't been able to secure a work placement as yet for this summer, so if anyone is able to offer her work in a medical setting for a week or so (she would ideally eventually like to work in Psychiatry or Surgery) do please PM me. In the early seventies the shops in the parade on Lordship Lane where Streamline was included a Spar (the lady who ran it had a budgie in a cage), Mr Rossi's sweet shop which would put Hope and Greenwood to shame with its selection of sweets in jars, the hardware shop run by a man in brown overalls, and Mr Nee's chemist where Barcelona was (it became a restaurant called La Pharmacia for a while, retaining all the fixtures and fittings - wooden cabinets and large glass apothecary bottles on display). Walsh Glazing on Shawbury Road was an ice cream factory I think for a while, with the ice cream vans in the area based there. I also remember Jones and Higgins in Pekham - they used to have a menagerie in the basement at Christmas. It's always useful to speak to the Head and maybe some prospective teachers to find out their attitude and approach. Also useful to know about classroom sizes and after school activities/ provision, ask to see some samples of recent (pupils') work and also ask about their policy of working with children with special educational needs. May also be useful to find out whether music lessons are on offer - some schools loan out musical instruments. This helps you build an overall picture of a school, regardless of which sector, whether state or private.

Can anyone recommend a suitable private space for two adults, a teenager and one four year-old child to meet near Dulwich Plough? We will be meeting once a fortnight probably on Thursdays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. My daughter's taking part in a Healthy Eating (HELP)trial run by Great Ormond Street and this involves counselling sessions once a fortnight for the next six months. HELP's budget is ?15 for the hour. Dulwich Library, Christchurch, upstairs at Soupdragon and Push studios options have all been explored. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Pugwash this must have been awful for you and your husband for the guy to have ended up in your kitchen. The guy initially had a go at smashing our front window with a brick several times to get in the house, then when challenged (as people were in) mumbled 'sorry', left behind an empty bottle of Port and an empty can of lager then just shambled up the street and went on to break into/ attempt to break into a few more homes, pausing only to be sick down an alleyway, my builder in hot pursuit having alerted the police. My daughter got a cut leg from the resulting glass debris and of course we were left with having to replace the glass in the window but I dread to think of what would have happened had he got in. Well done to your husband for staying so level-headed.

That would be at my house which was his first 'attempt' of the afternoon. Raffles he ain't given the clumsy try at gaining entry. Luckily people were there so the police were alerted straight away.

This is to do with a number of alleged break ins that happened today along Barry Road. Can't post any more as Police are investigating.
