  1. It may well be too late now but a lot of stolen bikes end up at Brick Lane market on a Sunday. It might be worth your friend going up there next weekend.
  2. I remember the yoga lot.. bearded hippies. They ran a Saturday morning cinema club/drama club for us kids long after the cinema proper had closed mostly showing 1950's sci-fi movies (my memory is a bit hazy about it but I think the seats had been removed). They had an old double decker bus parked in the car park next to it. I think most of the theatre props got 'liberated'and the bus vandalised. That was the end of that.
  3. We had our reception on HMS Belfast (not ED I know but it's on the 78 route). It was brilliant.. The venue hire was really reasonable, we bought our own booze and paid corkage and had a buffet which was very tasty indeed. Luckily for us it was a warm night so we spent all evening swanning about on deck.
  4. I've read several stinking reviews too. It seems to be a (con)fusion of French and Japanese cuisines.
  5. Where are you getting married?
  6. That would be the place. Used to be Belair.
  7. What a beautiful sight. I assume that's Fireman's Alley in the left of the building.
  8. I'm just in the process of moving from Clapham/Battersea where there are plenty of baby/maternity shops (but we do have the highest population of toddlers in western europe). I think their baby clothes are quite reasonably priced. I've bought a few things for my son in there and they are made from nice materials and they aren't covered in gaudy Disney characters, unfunny slogans or corporate branding. Bearing in mind that until your little treasure starts throwing food over him/herself you don't need many baby clothes so a few nice ones are better than a lot of crap. I'd still look in Snapdragon first as an independent shop (not sure if they sell maternity wear).
  9. I saw Planet of the Apes there.. and many more.
  10. I've never had a bad meal at the Mirash. When I shared a house with my mate on Lyndhurst Grove they were on our BT friends and family, gave us Christmas card too.
  11. I hope the FHT is good as it'll be my local. Can't make this Friday as I'll be away but I'll be up for some drinks at some point soon.
  12. I'm just in the process of buying a house in Ryedale. I'm returning to the area after about fifteen years away (I grew up in Friern Road and went to the old St John's primary on Archdale Rd). We looked all over ED and liked the feel of Ryedale (my wife loves Peckham Rye Park). At the moment I have a house just off Lavender Hill and I'm fed up with late night revellers shouting their way down the street after a bit of binge drinking so I steered clear of the roads just off Lordship Lane. Ryedale seems to be a nice spot. Our new house backs on to the old cemetary so nice and peacefull. The CPT isn't that far away which seems to be this forum's boozer of choice. I've got a nine month old baby and he seems to like the Herne. Now tell me there's a crack house and nightclub at the end of the street!
  13. Ah Spaghetti Classics on Coldharbour lane. I used to love that place. They did a fine squid ink dish.
  14. I like the Mirash on Grove Vale. Always top quality.
