  1. Anyone know when they'll be opening?
  2. I really like it. The cooked breakfast is great and good value at ?5.60 (inc fruit juice) which rivals most greasy spoons. It can get slow at busy times because the people taking orders also make the frothy coffee which takes ages.
  3. The green looks fine I think. The flaking purple was very sad indeed.. stuck at work and gasping for a pint just thinking about it.
  4. Yawn.. I agree with *Bob*. The term YM is really tedious. They're just mums doing stuff like the rest of us.
  5. Is it still the case that any grudgingly praise worthy South London restaurant review in Time Out is prefixed with "In an otherwise barren area of London....." ?
  6. I had the misfortune of getting a 197 last week. Never again, it was full of noisy riff-raff.
  7. The Rye Fry in the Peckham Park cafe is delicious.
  8. Maybe one of these fine bakers would start a morning bread delivery service?
  9. Not quite as OTT as I imagined, it is like the ones you get in latin countries where someone has missed a hairpin bend and driven into the abyss. If you want to see a really impressive grave visit Jamie's bench in the Forest Hill Rd cemetery.
  10. Sounds like the council need to remove it before it causes another accident.
  11. I've lived on Bethnal Green Road (noisiest flat in the world), by the railway tracks in Bow (thundering express trains), on Lewisham Way (non-stop sirens), and just off Lavender Hill (sirens, yobs, drunks and scooters). I love hearing nothing but birds and the occasional City Airport plane now.
  12. I also back onto the old cemetary. I got up this morning at 6am for a bathroom visit and the whole house was filled with the sound of chirruping. Didn't hear any crows though.
  13. Lee McQueen seems like a thick mockney oaf. I hope he's made project manager soon.
  14. The Horniman is probably nearest.. but it's horrible. There's a boozer on Tooley St too.
  15. Good question. I'm supposed to vote at the Harris girls Academy yet the Herne Tavern (yes it's a polling station) is nearer and I could have a pint while voting.
  16. The same thing happened to me the missus and Tiny Jimbo on Sunday. We went in there to take shelter from the rain and buy some tea. We were immediately ushered to the back room by a strident bespectacled woman. She said "I can't have kids and stuff up here" then she gave an audible 'unbelievable' as she walked away. Needless to say I won't be troubling them again with my cash.
  17. Organic bakery I think.
  18. Some people's behaviour when driving is appalling, the same idiots wouldn't behave like this outside of their tin boxes. I'm sure i t's all to do with low self esteem and stunted emotional growth.
  19. Right on Curmudgeon. Gina Ford my a*se, let the babies be free to find their own way.
  20. I'm with you all the way.
  21. Bring back the steak house.
  22. I've had my share of fancypants meals, but my favourites have always been eating simple seafood by the seaside. Grilled prawns, ailoi and an ice cold beer, El Cotilo, Fuertaventura, overlooking the Atlantic ocean Scallops at the Inver Cottage, Loch Fyne Lobster and fries, Ogunquit, Maine Grilled squid and a Greek salad, Istron Bay, Crete Almost any food anywhere in Normandy.
  23. euphemism? very funny It's not great.. too much bun and terrible chips.
  24. That's terrible. What have the police done? Like Brendan says it should be destroyed (along with the owners). I hope your little girl makes a speedy recovery. I have a toddler and live just around the corner so I'll keep my eyes peeled.
