  1. Getting conflicting info re. When charity shop's are allowed to open their doors. Some sources saying 12th April others 15th June. Can anyone clarify please?
  2. I've been with bulb for a couple of years now I think, very simple and easy, but yes, they are pushing smart meters big time. I don't particularly want one so hanging on.
  3. If you want to get Hyde to do anything, you have a VERY long wait. I would suggest joining the independent residents Facebook group for support. Here is the link... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1495535657339414 Oh, and I mean 'anything', not just get transferred
  4. I have just sent off an email. Fingers crossed!
  5. I have checked on Southwark's website, and it's said that the subscriptions for 20/21 closed in February. That must be last February as it includes 2020, but I can't see how to subscribe for this year. Am I missing an important link or process for this? Any input would be great, then it might save me trying to get through to them!
  6. Would be really great if people were encouraged to edit subject lines in the sale section with SOLD when their item had gone, rather than editing the post body. It's irritating to open a post to find SOLD somewhere among the description of the item! *Pedantic moment over*.
  7. it eventually goes through to this with clicking other links. https://www.josteopathy.co.uk/ and not local! Rear of, 14 Lesbourne Road, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 7LD Not a great way to advertise your business and bring a level of trust!
  8. Going from just off East Dulwich Grove to Sainsbury's today, normally only takes around 5 mins via car / bus, took me 20mins door to door having been stuck in traffic on EDG. How can that benefit the environment with cars sitting slowly moving down toward Lordship Lane junction? At least with side roads open traffic moves at a reasonable speed without build up. Crazy.
  9. many thanks Ontherun for the email address to send 'evidence' of address. (as well as uploading). A most frustrating process, although I had no issue using my mobile number in UK format. It seems ridiculous to have to send evidence of address when they already have the info via council tax. What I did notice during the process was that I was unable to access other open tabs on my pc. Seems very strange. *Edit to add, I got an automated response to my email then a confirmation of the documents being verified within 1 hour of sending the email.
  10. I had EE signal loss yesterday but it's back up now. There have been others also with problems.

  12. Anyone else having call issues with EE? Trying to work out if it's my phone!
  13. I find that if I just place the unwanted item on my front garden wall (preferably when it's not going to rain) it disappears very fast.

It's up to all of us to educate ourselves and our children, not expect black people to educate us. Let's be honest, the BAME community have been TRYING to educate us, get us to not just listen, but to really hear them, for how many decades? Even now, in 2020 we are still not hearing them. Whether it's about the colour of someone's skin, race, religion, sexuality, gender, disability it's up to us, the people who want/need to learn to take on the responsibility for OUR education. It is NOT up to an oppressed, marginalised group to educate us.

None of this will help black > people... none of this will help anyone. History and culture are not being compromised, they are being exposed. The ugly truth. That's why we all feel uncomfortable. So we should be. This isn't about pulling down statues, book burnings, street name changes, that's all symbolic BUT respectful. Is anyone here actually proud of a statue of a slave trader? Or a street named after one? No wonder the BLM are pulling them down, they're angry. So would you be if you had spent hundreds of years being enslaved, beaten up, killed, treated like second class citizens because of your skin colour. What it is about, is white people learning and checking their ingrained prejudices. This country was built on slavery and racism. Nothing to be proud about. We have an opportunity to change the future, can't change the past, but we CAN acknowledge it rather than hiding behind our white privilege. It's up to all of us to make this happen. Of course all lives matter, no one says they don't, but right now (and for hundreds of years) black people are suffering because of the colour of their skin. What's problematic about 'all lives matter' - lots of different explanations https://www.vox.com/2016/7/11/12136140/black-all-lives-matter This is US, but black parents in the UK have these conversations. https://www.facebook.com/538470420/videos/10158474333170421/ Still think we don't have a problem in the UK..... 16. RE. original post, face coverings on public transport.... From TFL "Although the wearing of face coverings is mandatory there is a long list of exemptions. Drivers can't tell who is exempt (e.g. passengers with breathing difficulties) and who isn't. They can politely remind passengers that if they can wear a face covering, they should do so; and they can make announcements to remind passengers to cover their faces. However, drivers have no authority to enforce the wearing of face coverings; that power lies with the police (who can issue fines)".
  17. I agree with a postponement, after all so many people who will need to pay this money out probably don't have it to pay out due to being on SSP, or losing work etc.

  19. this evening there were no loo rolls, no fresh meat other than expensive cuts. No bread. Barely any milk, no butter, no bananas, biscuits pretty much gone. No rice, no pasta. I feel immense sadness for all those who can?t bulk buy, or who can only buy when their money comes through. What angered me was finding several packs of meat dumped on a dry foods shelf by someone who couldn?t be bothered to put them back in the chiller. No way of knowing how long they?d been there. On a normal day, that would be wasteful, on a day when there?s nothing on the shelves that?s..... I have no polite words.
