  1. Not sure what you expect. It is a large warehouse for kids in South London, are you expecting to get five-star treatment? My advice would be to do as I do: be near the front of the queue when it opens, let your kid have a good time and then get out before the great unwashed arrive. Bit unfair to expect much from the staff, if they speak English nowadays, it's a bonus. You could try the one in Kensington but it's not much better.
  2. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe it's just me... but my interpretation of > enforcing a no-fly-zone didn't involve missile > strikes. And it seems that they're not just > targetting anti-aircraft facilities. > Yes I thought they just dropped a few copies of the Guardian on Libya and they would all become good democrats. This intervention is absolutely crazy. No fly zones are aren't enough on there own, you always end up having to send in the ground troops but no one has the balls for that in case we risk upsetting our Arab friends. Let them fight it out and tell Cameron to stop watching Sky News. Anyway, why do we care who runs Libya? Just flog us your oil and don't come over here.
  3. I doubt oil and energy are the main issue here. They do not necessarily lead to corruption either, with Canada and Norway being good examples of this. These protests are against presidents and regimes that have been in place for many years and don't seem keen to surrender power. People, especially the younger generation, are getting fed up with it and the increase in the cost of living (especially food) is not helping either. But always suspicious of someone who starts a debate with inflammatory language and then doesn't get involved again. Discuss.
  4. I don't, was just trying to engineer a response from her. Her opinions seemed to be garnered from left-wing student websites or possibly she is trying to start a decent debate... Egypt could be next to throw off their evil oppressors by the looks of it. Will it lead to a liberal democracy based on equality for all (including women) or an anti-Western, anti-Israel Islamist state? Pretty obvious which one.
  5. I think the OP is a Marxist revolutionary or thinks she is and has read some rubbish in the Socialist worker extolling the virtues of Hugo Chavez. I very much doubt they have been to Venezuela or could find it on a map. Tunisia will probably become a US-friendly military dictatorship which is usually the best way of running these countries. Look at what happened to Pakistan after Musharraf got booted out.
  6. How ridiculous. Am I not allowed to sing the national anthem in case people find it divisive or offensive? If you don't want to celebrate the marriage of your future king, don't go to the party.
  7. James, if you can arrange for any Waitrose store application to be approved in Lordship Lane, then I will not only vote Lib Dem in the next election, I will also help you deliver leaflets for this alternative vote thingy.
  8. Typical. Our future King is getting married and all people can worry about is their bus being a bit late.
  9. Yes please. God bless the Royal Family, they are a great institution and are an inspiration for us all.
  10. Yes, the last thing we want is East Dulwich to improve or go 'upmarket'.
  11. Serves you right, you were illegally parked. Happy New Year.
  12. Good for you. This is what the Big Society is all about. We shouldn't expect the government or council to do everything for us all the time. If 50% of people cleared the patch in front of the house, it would make a big difference.
  13. I love it how they keep saying they need to UNITE the party, since that is the Union that effectively got him elected. Dear old Tony Woodley was crowing on Sky news after the result. Good job he was less successful with his strike against BA, otherwise we'd all be flying Lufthansa now. Enjoy the wilderness.
  14. I see he mentioned equality in his victory speech, Ladymuck. You must be delighted then. Fortunately the non-urban English middle-classes, i.e. the backbone of this country, will never vote for this man.
  15. I think we can see from the A-level pass rates today that equality did improve under Labour. Did you know that pass rates have risen from 87.6% in 1997 to 97.6% today? That's a 10% increase in cleverness under their education policies. Of course though, I worry about the people who do not pass and the stigma that they face. We need to focus on the 2.4% who don't pass and ask ourselves how we can help them. I'm not sure about all this social mobility nonsense that's going on now. People should know their place and be happy with it. John Major introduced the national lottery and there is always the X factor if you want to get rich quick.
