We need to save all that precious tax revenue so we can keep bailing out our dysfunctional banks.

Surely it's a waste of public funds installing all that hardware and running/maintaining it when so many people have smartphones anyway?

  5. It depends where in ED you live. If you're near ED station, London Bridge is easiest. If you're near Forest Hill or Honor Oak, East Croydon is easier and cheaper.
  6. A shed in the front garden would be OK if it contains a ground anchor that bikes can be locked to securely. Ground anchors can be as cheap as ?20 but you may need to pour concrete into a hole to create a solid fixing point.

No, the figures apply to the whole of Southwark. Try putting in SE15 and you'll get the same figures (see below). East Dulwich and Dulwich probably have a lower rate of crime than the rest of Southwark as the residents are wealthier. 8. Station was open. Might be worth changing the title of this thread as it's a bit misleading to people planning to use the station..
  9. The walking routes option on Google Maps is quite handy for planning bike routes. For SE22 to Oxford Circus you can avoid both Vauxhall and E&C roudabouts with this route. If you use the walking option remember to zoom in and check for grey one-way arrows and adjust accordingly (hence the white pins). http://i55.tinypic.com/29amvs.jpg If you want to avoid any main roads, just drag the route off them and see what alternatives pop up.
  10. Fabricio the Guido Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I have some pitchforks if anyone is interested. haha! Probably no need though - I don't think anyone with serious intentions to take on hoodies would be stupid enough to discuss their intentions on this forum as the police would be able to identify them immediately if they seriously injured anyone. The tough guys on EDF are all mouth and no trousers.
  11. another one from the Forbes article: "If you?re down for making money, we?re about to go hard in east london tonight, yes tonight!! I don?t care what ends you?re from, we?re personally inviting you to come and get it in. Police have taken the piss for too long and to be honest I don?t know why its taken so long for us make this happen. We need a minimum of 200 hungry people. We?re not broke, but who says no to free stuff. Doesn?t matter if the police arrive cos we?ll just chase dem out because as you?ve seen on the news, they are NOT ON DIS TING. Everyone meet at 7 at stratford park and let?s get rich."

If there are two buses waiting at the lights, you can't get in the lane and have to either hold up the traffic when the lights turn green or crash into the buses. It's all the more dangerous because cars waiting behind the buses can't see your indicator. Equivalent situation where ED Road meets Peckham Rye gives you much more room to get into the left lane from as early as Fenwick Road.

Yes I read your post. I found it sarcastic and a bit rude actually. Hey ho. My post wasn't really directed at you personally. The point was a general one intended for all the people who've been frothing at the mouth calling for vigilante action in East Dulwich. I think it's mainly a knee-jerk reaction inspired by righteous anger. Understandable, but stupid.

Just > hope that it happens to someone else. We were failed by the police on Monday, for various reasons. I believe that has now been put right. I don't think vigilante gangs are necessary, and as we're already seeing on the news, they can very easily make things worse. It's important not to let rage, hatred and vengeful emotions get in the way of level-headed thinking. At the moment, there are far too many emotions flying round, even on this forum, and people are thinking with their guts rather than their brains. Let's hope for a few more days of calm, less of the knee-jerk anger, and a better equipped and prepared police force.

  19. Lots of sensible people on the news calling for calm. A bit more calm on this forum wouldn't go amiss either.

The car was driven into them deliberately. As I said earlier, things don't necessarily play out in the way you might like to imagine.
  23. Scotland Yard now advising people not to engage in vigilante action.
