  1. If you have carpets the moths are likely to have laid their eggs in dark places, under sofas, under beds, around the edges of carpets, behind and in long curtains. They especially like to lay the eggs in dust and on clothes that have been worn and have traces of skin and body grease. This is why you should wash woollens before putting them away for the summer. If you look closely at infected areas of carpet or clothes you will see what looks like little rolls of dust, about 2cms long and pale grey. If there are several they may be sort of meshed together with a sticky looking substance. Inside these 'rolls' are the grubs. Eggs can live in the carpets for up to two years before hatching into grubs and eating their way out. The female moth dies after laying the eggs. The pheromone strips attract the male moths and break the mating cycle over time. You need to hoover the carpets well, especially around the edges then steam if you have a steamer and spray with the sprays shown in other replies. Dulwich DIY sells the strips and sprays or you can buy them more cheaply online. It helps to not have too many crowded dark corners in rooms with carpets that don't get hoovered regularly or thoroughly.
  2. Just want to leave a recommendation for Roberts and Denny who organised my house move last month. I had a lot of stuff but they packed it all up, loaded it onto two trucks without any fuss and were friendly and cheerful throughout.Reasonable price too.
  3. Just wondering if you could double check that Renata as we were originally told that the renovation works were to last for 5 weeks, this week being the fifth week. Erroll seems to think that he will be able to hold a Taekwondo class in the Rye Hill Hall next Tuesday.
  4. Does anyone know if the renovation work is finished at the Rye Hill Residents Hall. Trying to find out if there is any Taekwondo there this tuesday evening.
  5. Why doesn't Southwark Council just print a map of the whole park and shade in the areas where dogs are - 1. not allowed. 2. allowed but on lead. 3. free to roam with their owners. These maps could be posted at all entrances and if necessary in each designated area.
  6. Friend in West Wickham with TalkTalk has same problem - can call out but nothing coming in..
  7. Looking for a local dog boarder/minder for elderly Jack Russell. Three days at the end of March.
  8. I had the same problem - got quotes from a couple of loft conversion companies and an independent builder all of whom said I'd need to have bedroom ceilings lowered - but Classic Lofts eventually carried out the work without lowering any ceilings. They have done a lot of conversions in Landells Road.It might be worth contacting them.
  9. wow - I can't believe people have the confidence to leave keys in the lock on the inside of an external door then go to bed !!!
  10. This sort of incident isn't new. Over 30 years ago I was living in Crystal Palace Road and was watching TV in a darkened room with the window open slightly at the bottom only to glance up and see a man trying to get his head through the small gap. Even then we knew to have stops on the windows to enable them to open up to 7 inches but no further. I was also advised by the police to have the high hedge lowered as the man was shielded from sight of the street.
  11. I was told by one of the gardeners that there is a cracked pipe.
  12. Try Classic lofts - they have completed numerous loft conversions in the area including mine. I'm very pleased with the result.
  13. I contacted Daniel after reading so many positive reviews but it turned into quite an unpleasant situation when I decided against going ahead with the quote. Certainly wouldn't recommend his company.
  14. Classic Lofts built my loft conversion at the end of last year. They are good at getting the best space out of a small loft and good at explaining how the the process works.I've had lots of compliments from friends and visitors, you can come and have a look if you like.
