  6. Hi, does anybody have the Guardian 'Weekend' magazine from last Saturday 2/2 please? I can collect. PM if so. Many thanks.
  7. Neighbourhood vets are lovely (for our kittens) and have been quite reasonable so far...
  8. Just wanted to say how lovely the new(ish) ethical clothing/homeware store is on Grove Vale/corner of Melbourne Grove by the station. The staff are lovely and the clothes, accessories and home bits are beautiful and the design is v current not like some eco/ethical stuff. I think it is predominantly an online store but this is a small selection of their stuff. The shop doesnt actually have a sign but it is called Fashion Conscience.
  9. I keep forgetting to pop by! Will do tomorrow, sounds lovely.
  10. Hi I have press/PR experience and am currently working as a PA in Westminster. I love central London but I am thinking about looking for a local job. Any tips or suggestions please? It would be great to find a role in a creative workplace - full time or part time - or even working from home. Press/PR related would be preferable but I am open to admin and PA opportunities. Are there any PR/media/design agencies or art/photography studios in Dulwich or the surrounding areas? I know of some and intend to do more detailed research but it would be great to get some local info. I have thought about some of the galleries and museums (Dulwich Picture Gallery/South London Gallery/Hornimans) but vacancies do not arise often. Have any of you swapped a city job for something local? How do you find it? Do you prefer it? Again any advice/info would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively if you or your company needs some additional support and you would like me to email my CV or meet up for a chat please PM me. Thanks, Louise
  11. Admin... Would you consider a jobs section on the forum? I understand jobs get posted from time to time in the businesses and trades section but I think it would be really handy for ED employers and those in ED looking for work to have a dedicated page for jobs. Just a suggestion... Thanks!
  12. I don't think it is sterotypical to worry about running in South London (or anywhere else in London) it can be quite rough and if it is still dark at 6am I wouldn't feel comfortable despite living around here all my life and being quite street wise. I think you have to be careful because people are often up and about at that time coming home from clubs or just hanging around! You do hear of stories about women runners being targeted. I would say go for it but just have your wits about you and stay away from any parks or woods
  13. We went for dinner yesterday evening and were told to wait in a local pub for 45mins to an hour for a table. It was super busy! After 30 mins they found us a table for two so we didn't have to hang around for too long but once seated it was really cramped. The food was nice, not the best Thai ever, but definitely good value for money! I think the best way to put it is that you can go to a gastro pub and have a boring same old same old dish for ?8-15 or go here for something vibrant and tasty in a casual environment and it's cheaper too! The staff were so friendly and polite and despite the chaos they were calm and relaxed and took the time to recommend dishes and check on us during meal etc. It would be nice to be able to book as the outdoor tables were highly desirable on such a sticky evening. Or maybe it was just sticky as it was so busy - not sure! Anyway I will return in a couple of weeks and I reckon it will be even nicer once things have quietened down.
  14. The old gothic Nunhead cemetery is perfect for walks. Skehan's pub (near the station) is a good proper community pub - great for live music, with a pool table and thai kitchen! Telegraph Hill park is lovely with amazing views of the city. FC Soper fishmongers is great. Ayers bakers for bread and cakes and delicious doughnuts! Grocers is good too. Old Nun's Head is alright they have a Thai cook who is amazing. Where are you moving from? All the surrounding areas are great too! Lots in ED, Peckham Rye, Brockley etc. I love Broca food market in Brockley and Ganapti South Indian restaurant on Bellenden Road (in Peckham). Bar Story (nice cocktail place) under railway arches by Peckham Rye is another favourite! North Cross Road (off Lordship Lane) is nicer and quieter than LL with better shops and nice market at weekend. Welcome to the area as you can probably tell I love it!
