  1. Thank you all for your advice. I will have another talk with the head of school to explain our situation. I understand that schools don't want the disruption of pupils leaving during term time but every family situation is different.
  2. Hello Has anyone taken time off with younger children (under 7 years) that the school didn't authorise? If so, what was the outcome? Did southwark fine you?
  3. Hi there Did you have Any more thought on this? I would be interested in attending/helping
  4. Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated
  5. Good on you for posting.. if it is a parent or nanny no one should be treating children badly (we all understand the difference between discipline and neglect )
  6. I think this is a rather difficult question as many factors are involved in the descion making process (your child, local schools, being able to afford it). I do think to much focus is on exam results (some private schools get high exam results by putting extreme pressure on young children). Then again some state schools are not unlocking many students talents because of budget/time restrictions. I do beleive no school can be a substitute to parenting -spending time together as a family for me is a far more important than working 24/7 to pay for school fees.
  7. We are about to start my son at dvis and have a question regarding school shoes... Having grown up aboard and not had a uniform what type of shoes would you recommend? They said no trainers but would like to buy something that he can run about in and also are durable/warm... Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. 9. Hi there I am moving back to East Dulwich from aboard and am looking for a gp. My son has a medical problem which requires me to attend doctors appointments often. When last in ED we were with Dulwich medical centre on crystal palace road- I found them very hard to get appointments with and never saw the same gp. Is it possible to find a GP In the area where I can get an appointment and see the same GP the majority of the time? I currently have a great relationship with my GP and he is always happy to squeeze us in... Also is there any private clinics in SE London which offers a GP and other services (X-rays ect). Please correct me but it seems from previous threads ED lacks a doctors practice where you get reliable service and can develop a relationship with your GP.

  14. I am needing advice on the bugaboo bee 2009 model. Does the bugaboo cocoon work with this model or is the foot muff the best product to buy? Also what age does the cocoon go up too? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  15. Hi James Thank you for your response, we are only collecting signature because a lot of people are unaware that southwark are trying to get a controlled parking zone. I wish southwark council would consult all residents that would be effected. Rid
  16. As noted on my previous post we are collecting signatures from the surrounding roads of the CPZ to show Southwark that many people in East Dulwich object to this proposal. Thus far i have had volunteers (including myself) to go around the following roads: hinckley gowlett keston Nutfield Archdale Frogley Northcross Oglander Road If you live on a street affected and want to stop southwark getting this proposal through please PM me and i will send you the template. Thanks
  17. I have never suggested any roads to gather signatures from, I am just providing the template for people to use- who am I to say that certain roads won't be affected? I do not know how congested these roads are but if people who live on these street are concerned that the CPZ proposal will affect them and are willing to give up there own personal time to make a change then how can you judge this? I hope the comments above have not put anyone off gathering signatures, if you feel you will be affected then please get in touch.
  18. I have had another volunteer for Everthopre Road - please let me know if you can gather signatures on your road to stop the Controlled Parking Zone. Roads we are gathering signatures: everthopre hinckley gowlett keston Nutfield Archdale Frogley Northcross Regards

  20. I agree with many of the posts above, i also live on Nutfield Road and find it impossible to park at present. I have spoken to the council employee who is drafting the final report and explained a few of my concerns -no one has consulted the roads around the controlled parking zone -they will only be moving the problem from controlled parking zone to the surrounding roads therefore not solving the problem -some roads around the controlled parking zone are closer to the station than within e.g Spurling Road 0.3miles, Ondine Road 0.4miles). He explained that due to budget cuts they could not consult everyone in the area. Therefore i will be going around Nutfield, Archdale, Northcross and Frogley Roads to get signatures against this proposal - if you live in another road surrounding the proposed controlled parking zone and are unhappy with the proposal then please PM for a template to get your neighbours to sign. I can totally understand the residents within the proposal who want to introduce permits but this is just moving the problem from one congested street to another.
