  1. OK, so sounds like we've narrowed it down to either Wednesday, November 16th or 23rd then (before the 25th, not Monday or Tuesday, and a different night than Thursday). I personally can't do the 23rd, but appreciate the 16th is very short notice. Happy to book space somewhere however for either night and if the 23rd, I'll catch up with you in January! How does the East Dulwich Tavern suit everyone? Or is there an alternative local in mind?
  2. A belated greeting to everyone. It was great to meet so many fabulous EDF Mums last week and I do think I volunteered to help organise the next one (er, could have been half of the bottle of red wine I shared with Yak, how did we go through a whole bottle????). Is anyone up for a November meet? Think someone might have also suggested December. I'm not in town this December, so happy to find a suitable venue and book November or will pick up the first FR drinks of 2012 as an alternative (positive forward thinking that we will continue to meet in the New Year). Happy Halloween!
  3. Look forward to meeting you at table 18 then. Just logged in to check that people were still going. See you soon.
  4. I'm doing the same for my 7 month old. 7PM bedtime in long sleeve vest or sleepsuit and a 2.0 tog grobag (have 2.5 on hand for when the colder nights arrive). I put a small cellular over her around 10PM and even though she moves around a lot at night, she stays pretty well covered. Because its a cellular blanket, I'm less worried about overheating or suffocation. Per Pickle's post, mine definitely lets me know if too hot / cold. She generally sleeps straight through the night, so if I hear a wake up these days, its generally because she's hot or cold. Good luck with the radiator.
  5. Well I'm in then. Will ask hubby to watch our LO. I look forward to a glass of wine and conversation. Assume a local ED pub then? Will check thread for further details.
  6. Is this open to all? I'd love to meet a few of you who's posts and opinions I've read and enjoyed my first 6 months of motherhood (wd152 thread for example). Don't want to crash an exclusive party if not open. P.S. I'm not itchy
  7. Okay everyone, the pears are finally ripening. I've made loads of puree for my 6-month old and will never get through all the pears on the tree. Please PM me if you are interested in FREE pears. I'm located in ED near Upland and Friern roads.
  8. We're flying in December (via HK) with our daughter who will be 9 months old. We've booked stopovers both directions thinking a bath and a sleep might be helpful. We shall see how that works. May I ask abourt Piriton? Why is that suggested?
  9. We have a GINORMOUS pear tree in our backyard full of fruit. The pears probably need a few more weeks, but we have more on the tree than my family old will ever need. I'm stage 1 weaning as well. Where are you located?
  10. I used the Natal Hynotherapy CD and book and really benefitted. About 2 months before giving birth (round about the time we started antenatal classes) I started to get really, really fearful. A friend recommended the CD and I was really skeptical not really being into alternative therapies, but I decided to give it a try. I listened to the CD every evening before dinner and each time, got better and better at going into a state of deep relaxation. It got to the point that while I was still working, I looked forward to getting home to have a listen. The ladies above are correct, it is helpful to get your partner on board so they are clued up on how to help you relax and what cues to give durnig labour. Fast forward to my birth experience, I used the 1, 2, 3 relax technique and towards the end, becuase my husband knew what my cues were, he was able to talk me through the last phase of labour. I know this sounds a bit strange, but it really worked for me. The booklet that comes with the CD is really straight forward, explains how it works, when to use, how often, etc... The NCT website does sell the book and CD as does Amazon. Happy to speak more about it if you would like. Good luck, Heidi
  11. Hi Mums and Dads, Many, many thanks for all your feedback. I think its probably a Tripp Trapp for us. Of course I'm going hunting on the forum first and might have found one already. Now wish us luck with the weaning!
  12. Hi there. We are about 2 weeks away from embarking on the exciting adventure that is weaning and will need to buy a high chair for our daughter. Any recommendations on what to look out for? I've seen a huge range in price, materials (e.g. wood, plastic, fabric) and functionality (swivel, tilt, travel). Many thanks, Heidi
  13. Our 5 month old is now a tummy sleeper. My husband spent two sleepless nights flipping her back over every time we heard her moving about, but it was useless, she loves sleeping on her tummy and just quickly rolled back onto it while still asleep. Other Mums from my NCT group are experiencing the same thing.
  14. There's also baby massage in the holistic health centre above Soup Dragon on LL. My 5-month old loves it. Think its ?10 a session.
  15. The best baby gifts I received included a swaddle blanket (a lifesaver for newborn fussiness, its the magic blanket that helps our baby sleep soundly, ours is by Summer, sells on Amazon, and has velcro fasteners) and a nice blanket from the White Company's baby range (Little White Company), which is super soft, washes easily, and still looks lovely 3-months in. I too received some expensive clothing (still not used) and appreciated those two gifts the most. Good luck!
  16. Hi Eden, My husband and I are new parents of a 3-month old baby girl. I too am an American Jew (ok, a J.A.P. sometimes) looking for Jewishness in SE London. We live in East Dulwich and had been thinking about reaching out to the Streatham Liberal Synagogue. Our daughter has a way to go to being a Shabbat ima, but we would be interested in meeting up and even sharing a shabbat dinner sometime. Kind regards, Heidi
