  1. I didn't take a photo as I felt a bit vulnerable (quiet street, I'm a woman he was a guy bigger than me) and I didn't want to provoke as he was clearly a bit dodge. I gave a description of person in met statement.
  2. Careless driver drove into the back of me when I stopped at traffic lights. He admitted as much and I took a photo of his number plate and he took a photo of mine, but when I asked him for his name address number etc he refused, saying number plates are enough. He refused to swap details basically. I called 101 and asked for advice and they said they would investigate and to report to insurance. After the call the guy was still refusing to swap details and as I had been there for a while I left. Later I reported it to insurance and I've now filled an online traffic incident form with the Met. Anything else I could have done? He admitted it wasn't his car so I suspect he doesn't have ansurancev(although the car is insured according to my insurer). Worried the other party could now claim I did a hit and run? Should I have asked for police to arrive? 101 didn't mention anything about sending anybody so I assumed there was nothing else I could have done?
  3. In the mornings I see secondary schoolboys catching a train to Victoria from Denmark Hill, and I'm wondering what school are they from? I have a boy so intrigued to know what secondary schools local boys travel to (apart from the charter/Harris/elmwood). Their logo has three golden stars on it. Also sometimes I see boys travel from the platform to Dartford, also intrigued what schools are in that direction?
  4. Thank you for all your replies. I have gone for genuinely can't remember and in meetings from now on to recap at the end what has been discussed. It does have a slight impact on performance result but I have found out higher powers who are sympathetic towards me have power to overturn the decision so I'm going to leave it at that for now. I've also updated my cv and yes it does feel better already.
  5. I am in a situation where my line manager says that something was discussed during my recent appraisal, which I genuinely have no recollection of (no malice intended). It is over an incredibly petty point, and generally I wouldn't bat an eyelid and let it go, however relations with this manager are at an al time low, I feel bullied, and generally miserable (ongoing, not just over this issue). The manager insists that this conversation did take place. I don't know what to do next. It is a very small organisation with no official HR person. There was a third person present during the appraisal but I don't have a good relationship with this manager either and it could swing either way for me. I could concede that perhaps it was discussed but that I genuinely have no recollection and suggest that in future meetings a recap be done at the end of the session, or I could ask the third party present to mediate and if it swings her way risk reinforcing the bulling behaviours and get a bad reputation (or lacking memory or whatever) to boot, or I could just leave it and hope it goes away. I haven't signed my appraisal and I need to soon. I just want the conflict (all of it) to stop! I am tearful over this and this insecurity over how to respond is totally unlike me as the thing being 'argued' over is so insignificant it is laughable (but for some reason it matters hugely to my manager).
  6. Thanks Spitfire and bawdy-nan, have dropped them an e-mail.
  7. Apart from the usual cafes, where could a freelance set up for a few hours each day locally? Any suggestions welcome, I am going insane working from home every day. Plenty of options in the city, but need to be relatively local as I am a carer too.
  8. Hi, I need to hang 5 internal doors. Would I need a carpenter for this job or could a handyman do this for me? Also what is the going rate for this type of work? Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks.
  9. EPB Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A qualified plumber can cost between ?60 and ?70 > per hour. Barristers, solicitors, management consultants, etc earn a lot more per hour. Teachers, teaching assistants, nurses, firemen, policemen etc earn a lot less per hour. Is your point to try to make a quick buck and ask for as much as you think you can get away with, or charge something that is fair, reasonable and affordable for families and that will allow the family to afford the teacher for a long time so that children, even those whose parents don't earn loads-a-cash per hour, have a chance to learn an instrument?
  10. We had our reception in Beauberry house in Belair park. Beautiful setting. We had a table full of kids, although the toilets might be a problem (from memory they were down some stairs but I don't know if there was a more accessible toilet)
  11. So sorry to read that you are going through this, it must be heart breaking. He sounds very abusive and I think he is taking advantage of you - to him you are probably the means to having a roof over his head and I suspect that he will try very, very hard to keep a foothold on your house. If I were in your shoes, I think what I would do is change the locks while he is out, pack a bag for him and leave it a friend/relative where he can access it, and take myself and my daughter to a safe place (my parents or a friend). The reason of changing the locks is because if you leave the house go to your parents it would not seem unlikely that out of spite he would change the locks himself and although the house is yours it would put you in a very stressful situation until it gets resolved. Have you contacted the citizens advice bureau? They might be able to tell you free of charge how you can legally get him to leave your house (I don't know if you change the locks if that would be enough to keep him out permanently or if he would still have any rights)
  12. This morning I bought a Christmas tree from the St Christopher's Hospice stall in the Plough, they said that they would deliver this afternoon at 4 but nothing yet. I need to go out shortly and I was wondering if anybody else on the forum had had a tree delivered today by them or if they knew how to contact them? I guess I should have asked for a contact telephone number at the time but I didn't really think.... Edited to say that having done my research I realise now they are nothing to do with the charity! I feel like such a mug, I genuinely thought that all the money would go to the hospice. Edited to say I went back to the site and staff were happy to give me another tree which we then carried home. They may make donations to the hospice, but when I spoke with them this morning (and their flyers) led me to believe that all of the money goes to the hospice and I don't think it is right to be obtuse about this info.
  13. We have been trying for 2 years and unfortunately because we already have one there isn't much you get on the NHS in terms of fertility treatment. I've had bloods (all fine) and a scan (all fine) done on the NHS, but if we wanted to do more invasive tests or start hormonal therapy we would have to go privately. I know loads of couples who took ages with the second, my own mother in law took her 6 years to conceive her second child, so i am not losing hope (for now....)
  14. Her account has been spammed. I've had this too from friends' accounts
  15. I do admit that there was fluctuation in prices between resorts and some were cheaper than others (I can't remember where the nearly 2k one was I think it is the one nearest to London), but by the time to factor in petrol, food, activities and all the extras it made our eyes water.
